Went for valentine's day. Shared three dishes from the a la carte menu. My favorite was the foie gras/banana bread. Scallop dish was a good portion but could have used acid for balance. I wouldn't recommend sitting in the outer portion from the main building as the lighting and seating is less comfortable.
Every dish we got was absolutely amazing! I normally can think of some thing I would change and I cannot think of anything. The service was exceptional.
You must go here! We will be back for sure.
No wonder it's hard to get a reservation here - everything is terrific and the prices are superior to less accomplished competition.
First time at Sawyer. Our group of 4 shared plates (the best way to experience Sawyer). Everything we ordered was wonderful. Artichoke, House Salad, Burger, JoJos all had great flavor. The salad is the winner of the group, as it was tasty, but also fed 4 people. It’s huge! Great ambience and vibe here. We will be back.
Sawyer is a great spot in Ballard for brunch. The food was delicious and well portioned. It was very busy when we went but the noise level was very tolerable. However, service is hit or miss. I would still recommend this spot for a casual meal!
Food was good but odd. Got brunch potatoes and that's literally all it was, a bowl of roasted potatoes. Now, they were darn good taters but jeez, throw an egg on top or something...
Sawyer was fantastic! Highly recommend to anyone in search of a low-key fine dining experience. Food was interesting and delicious but unfussy. We came with a group and the service was excellent.
Great service- very helpful waitstaff
Loved this restaurant!! It exceeded our expectations and we are already excited for when we get to go back! Especially our server, he was amazing!!
Amazing service, fantastic ambiance and music choice/volume - food was on point 5/5
Excellent customer service. Staff went above and beyond to ensure my partner and I had a special night.
The food here is off the hook.
Was not drinking this visit and found the shrubs to be a perfectly delicious alternative.
It was my husband’s birthday and his parents wanted to treat us. We love Sawyer for everyday dining but wanted to choose something we thought his picky parents would like. They did! We loved our meal. There’s something to please everyone and every taste. The Porchetta is our personal fave.
Great, attentive service. Nice open space. We ordered their cheesy bread with pimento cheese, potato gnocchi, squash torta, tuna crudo, s'mores choco taco, and cuatro leches cake. All good was superb. I ordered the Bicycle Sidecar (peach & cognac), it was amazing!
Food was very good and our server did a good job! All 4 of us enjoyed our brunch selections!
No one brought water to table. Was dying for a refill the whole time. Server was very nice though but I really needed more water
Well over priced and under value. Decent salad with chicken and a very mediocre (small!) Bloody Mary was $38. Confused by the up charge for fair wages but only for back kitchen staff. So what are we supposed to tip the server? Certainly not 20%?!? I left confused and underwhelmed.
Flavorful cuisine and a great overall vibe, especially loved the creative menu choices.
Amazing, interesting food, great service, fun atmosphere.
I took two girlfriends here who were visiting from out of town. We loved the small plates and cocktails.
Celebrated a birthday and we had a wonderful experience! The food was amazing our server was the best and we cannot wait to go back again!
The food was amazing. Everything and just had such amazing flavors. The waiter was awesome. I bring new business associates there all the time and they all love it. It's my favorite restaurant in Seattle.
This was my second time at Sawyer, and it was fine, not great. The dishes are just so eclectic, it's hard (for me) to find a through-line. We were seated in the closed-in balcony - a little drafty, much less special/ upscale than the main dining room, but same prices. So - it was fine.
Menu is family style, which I always find fun when with a group. Food was tasty, some of it very tasty. Highly recommend the squash tostada and pork belly sticky buns. Ambiance was really nice. Beautiful building. Likely to return.
Our server made the evening and the food was superb.
Brunch here is AMAZING! Loved the food, service, ambiance, and overall experience. Definitely coming back!
I took my wife to Sawyer for our anniversary dinner, and we left with a new favorite restaurant. The food was as delicious as it was creative, and they plate their dishes to be shareable, a major plus if you enjoy trying as many new things as possible. The service was equally top-notch, and the ambiance was bright and inviting. When the bill arrived we were shocked at how little it was in proportion to the quality and quantity of food and beverages we’d enjoyed. I cannot recommend Sawyer highly enough.
The food and service is amazing. You need white table cloths and candles on the tables.
I have absolutely the highest compliments to give on the food and our actual server. The food was lovely, and our server was so attentive and gracious...once we were actually sat down. The hostess wasn’t very pleasant and we were pretty displeased that our reservation was for 8:30, and we had to wait until 9:10 to be seated. She didn’t offer any explanation or apology for us having to wait that long when we already had a reservation. To be honest, it was oft-putting and had the food or the service been in any way deficient, I wouldn’t have wanted to go back. I’m a little perplexed that the first person to greet us, the hostess, had such poor customer service skills to not offer an apology or at least comped us a drink or dessert for having to wait almost 40 mins for an already planned reservation. Again, I hate to detract from the food, and our server...they were both lovely and amazing, but it was definitely worth mentioning that it dampened the experience.
Great experience. Great for a small group esp as it is more family style small and large plates.
Delicious. Incentive. Loud. Parking is tough but otherwise great new find.
We had such an amazing time at Sawyer! The food was delicious and the service fantastic. Avery was our server; he was so friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. He was a big part of why we had such a good time. We had a group of 8 and he made great suggestions for sharing and was able to handle all of our requests for substitutions based on allergies and preferences. The food was great and with a big group we were able to sample so many different menu items. We wanted to get dessert, but were too full from dinner.
Delicious food, expensive bill, but worth it! Would recommend the duck and the scallops, as well as the beet salad!
Good selection of food. We underestimated the size of the salad, but it worked out just fine.
I could not have picked a better place to celebrate my birthday. It was an amazing first time experience for my friends! All of them raved about the food.
Our server remembered we had dietary restrictions and was really good about going over the menu with us and the other guests who had food allergies as well. We always appreciate the kitchen accommodating these things for us.
Thank you for the complimentary monkey bread starter. We really felt so cherished! Loved the patio seating! Hands down the best brunch in town.
Service, food, experience fabulous... will be back sooner than later!
Took a friend out for a belated birthday celebration. The waitperson saw to it that my friend had everything to his liking - from serving dessert first with an appropriate beverage to an appropriate beverage to accompany his burger.
We were fortunate to arrive early, before the restaurant filled up. We very much appreciated the fact that the tables are not packed close together, so that we didn't feel cramped and didn't have to overhear others' conversations.
We absolutely love Sawyer! Incredible food every time we go!
Our service was exemplary! Every dish we had was a piece of artwork and prepared perfectly, I'd like to go again and order the other half of the menu. There were three of us and it made it possible to order many items. A very creative menu.
Sawyer is a bright and airy place with the peekaboo view of the water in Ballard, just off Shilshole. The entrance is Tucktaway on 22nd and it’s easy to walk past. The service staff was wonderful and accommodating. One of our party got stuck in a bridge accident close to the end of the lunch hour, but they were still able to accommodate us. The vodka bloody Mary was beautiful to look at but average to drink. It was a chili farmers market day so we had a hefty brunch dishes, the Texas chili over breaded and fried potatoes with cheese and onions was fantastic. I gave up the fried egg to top my friends avocado toast which was enormous and delicious. The third member of our party had the egg sandwich with the walkie patty which was tall enough that it could only be eating with a fork and knife. Even though we were there at the end of the lunch hour, no one rushed us.The service was attentive but not hovering and very accommodating. The one thing that I would change would be the very hard seats. Also even though you were there at the end of brunch the noise level was high because there was nothing to dampen it. All in all, a very enjoyable meal And I will go here again.
