Always enjoy dining at Sawyer & Co. Today's server was Claire, who was very friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. Today was extra special when owner/founder Stephen Shallcross stopped by our table for an enlightening and delightful conversation. I love both Sawyer & Co. and De Nada and will soon try out Lil' Easy, the third component of this wonderful Austin trio.

First time to visit, great atmosphere, good food and drinks. The noise level inside made it a bit harder for our table of 6 to hear each other, but wasn’t too bad. Will definitely be back!

went to Sawyers with our service dog and to eat on their patio - area was nice. The menu is limited - I had the chicken fried steak and my wife at the pot roast - both were very good. we did share a choclate bourbon pecan pie which was excellent. Service was great (thanks LIV). this is a restraurant in the hip industial area.

My last visit to a once-great diner. I have been a fan of Sawyer & Co. for years, they had done a great job with new-orleans influenced diner fare. Food quality and service have been declining over my last 10-12 visits, but last night was my final visit. * Lack of parking (taken by patrons of the sister restaurant) *Glacially slow service in a near-empty dining room (15 minutes before they took our food order, 25-30 minutes more before food arrived, no water refill until we were half done with food). * THE MINIMAL MENU - good items had been cut back over time, (I’m thinking fondly of Chicken-fried chicken with Crawfish Etoufee). And for a “diner” to have only one breakfast-type item? No! As someone who tries to be carb-conscious there wasn’t much for me on the menu, nearly everything came with grits or some sort of white potato. *Food Quality and portions. Two of us at the table got the redfish: $24 for SIX forkfulls of fish, and much more “fishy” tasting than any redfish I can recall. Another diner at our table got the burger and fries - the burger was decent I’m told, but the fries were tragic: greasy, smelly, clearly the oil needed a change in the fryer. *Atmosphere - the decor is pleasant, but the constant stream of sweaty people walking through from the restaurant next door going to and from the bathroom - no thank you. It genuinely saddens me to write this review… that all I have to say about a once-great favorite is a list of grievances… honestly, none of this is new, it’s been going downhill for a while.

Consistent East Side fare. Only drawback is I miss the Red Beans and Rice as a side once they opened Lil Easy and moved the N'Orleans menu there.... ;-)

Great restaurant! Seven of us. Delicious food and fantastic service and atmosphere. Parking can be difficult for Sunday brunch even though they have a large lot with lots of parking. There is street parking behind the restaurant on one side of the street however . I will definitely go back!
