It was a great meal, great service and wonderful food. Always a great place to come for some fine dining.
Amazing dinner and a wonderful experience
Easter Brunch...the restaurant has seen better days...furniture and decor are old and dirty. Food was only ok...definitely not up to Sawmill standards.
My Son In Law and I both ordered steak medium rare. Both steak were almost rare. Neither of us finished our steaks. Very disappointing. Was not up to the Sawmills usual standards.
The steak was poor. My child could have cooked one better tasting on our BBQ. Overall..... nice decor and ambience, but definitely not even close to being worth the money we spent. The service was very good however.
Restaurant undergoing renovations but despite this, we received excellent care from staff, including Manager Roy Robinson. Food was excellent, presentation sublime! This was just a casual late lunch but I recommend to anyone for any ocassion to treat themselves to dinner or brunch at the Sawmill.
I used to love going to the Sawmill. This experience was really disappointing, the salt and pepper shakers were sticky. The glass my sons drink came in was dirty and the prime rib was dry. I won’t be going back, ver pay disappointing
Everything was wonderful
Wife and I stopped for the prime rib and yorkshire pudding and they didn't disappoint! The hostess was a little cutie petutie (as my wife said) and our server, Steve or Steven (something like that, I'm bad with names) was fantastic. Splurged and added the lobster tail, Devine! Oh, and don't pass up on the desert chocolate bowl! We definitely over indulged. My only complaint would be them all wearing masks. I miss seeing and interacting with faces. Maybe when society gets over their mask dependency we will go back, if nothing else just to see the real smile on the cute little hostess!!!
Amazing food. Had a great family dinner.
Our waiter was amazing!
Our appetizer was greasy and inedible. My steak was extremely undercooked and the food was average in flavour!
Expensive night out for a subpar dinner
The noise level was excessive from the Scottish soccer team. We booked in the lounge to get happy hour price drinks, was seated just outside of lounge (but still VERY noisy) & paid full price for drinks. Not near as enjoyable an experience as we were looking for when one in our party hadn’t been out to dine in 15 months!!!
It was not bad. We all had a good time. The food was great, the service was good and it was a pleasant experience all around.
Excellent service and great food!
I was disappointed to see that The Sawmill no longer serves bread before the meal.
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Wonderful service and excellent food. I’ve since recommended your establishment to others. Keep up the good work!
The food was outstanding and all the staff were extremely hospitable, attentive, and kind - especially our server Steve. He was amazing with us and with all 4 of our kids. Would absolute recommend!
Excellent food and service. Menu printing too small.
Service was fantastic
the decor is pretty dated and the food was not as good as it used to be. Likely would not go back
There was not enough staff in the restaurant to do their jobs properly. i don't blame the server, rather management. ALL of our steaks were undercooked and the sides had only the bare minimum. Not worth the large amount of money spent here.
After hearing positive recommendations we decided to book a reservation for a date night. The table location was not great, but better then the table beside us that was sat in a corner without any light source. Food was okay, but definitely not worth the price. And while the server was polite, it was hard to get any service. I suspect this is just due to reopening during the pandemic, so hopefully will improve as things get figured out but it was a quite disappointing this time around.
Food and service was good. The venue is in need of renovations though. Out dated interior, there is still signage from the previous restaurant that was in the space and the furniture & carpet is worn out. A bit of a disappointment after being in some of the newer Sawmills.
Amazing food and drinks! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!
First and last visit at this location, inspire of pre booking still has to wait 25 minutes for a table and when we got one it was in a makeshift sitting. Felt like we were sitting in an old smelly damp banquet hall turned into a restaurant. You guys should not book off can’t offer proper seating to your guests. The food was tasteless and supremely overpriced.. Booked sawmill because i had a great experience at sawmill capilano location but i was so disappointed and that too on Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Was disappointed in the quality of the food. No seasoning. Just boiled veggies with nothing on them. The steak also had no seasoning and pretty boring. Was excited to go out since covid has put a damper on life. Wish we had bought our own steaks and had dinner at home.
Me and my fiancé wanted to have a nice dinner out on Valentine’s Day for the first time in a while. The sawmill wasn’t our first choice but everything else was booked up. So we looked up there menu before we booked knowing full well what we wanted and how much it was going to be. We arrived at the restaurant and were given a special Valentine’s Day menu and the prices for the food were double that of which were on there regular menu for the same food. I asked the waiter if it was some sort of couples deal so for two meals you pay this price and that’s why it was almost double he explained to me that it wasn’t and that I also couldn’t just order off the regular menu. So I proceeded to pay 120$ for two meals rather than the 60$ it would have been normally. I had never eaten at the sawmill before so I wasn’t sure at that point about the quality of the food and with high hopes I waited for my very expensive food to arrive. When it came my jaw literally dropped there was more plate than food I received a teeny tiny piece of steak that was over cooked and I kid you not 4 slices of carrots and no not whole carrots but slices of carrots. They didn’t even bring the fries out and for each side dish I had ordered I had to remind them to bring it out. Though the food service sucked the waiter was kind I just felt bad cause at the end of the night my minimum %tip it allowed me on the machine was an extra 35$ On an already 150$ overpriced meal. I opted out of tipping by percentage and gave an extra 10$ at the table he waited needless to say I will not be returning to the sawmill worst restaurant experience I’ve had
Great menu, excellent quality . Nice to eat out for a change
Thrilled with food, service & ability to be out for a special occasion. Thank you to all of the staff - extra guidelines in place which is a challenge- for making our dinner experience special! People ... get out there & support restaurants (specifically Servers)!
I’m a nurse so my comments are unbiased - thank you!!!
Not great, staff was rushed and plates were sloppily presented. Spent over $150.00 and didn't even get offered bread to start. Had to split a topper feature for our steaks, which was tacky.
Bill was given as a piece of paper, not even presented in a billfold. Won't be back.
Our experience at sawmill south was amazing. The ambiance in the restaurant was great because u could actually carry a conversation with your guest. The manager on shift was very pleasant to accommodate any questions we had about the menu or anything else. Our server was very pleasant and always had a smile on. Definitely will be heading back.
Made reservations. Got placed in the lounge... then got moved. Didn’t get appetizer we ordered. The steak I’m pretty sure was still twitching came out bloody rare when we ordered medium. Won’t be back
We had a reservation for 6 PM to celebrate Valentines Day
We were sat at table and then waited approximately 15 min to get acknowledged
We then waited 45 min for appetizers
Managed to get one cocktail but didn’t get a second one until we complained to the manager. He tried to tell us that they were having challenges as they had just reopened. Did not want to argue with him but they have been open since Monday and they would have known how many reservations they had....just very poor planning and lack of organization.
Finally got our meals at 7:30. They were fine.
We weren’t asked if we wanted dessert or coffee.
Paid our bill and left at 8 PM at which time there was a crowd of people waiting at the door to get in.
Considering it was Valantines weekend and the first Saturday reopening after Covid restriction it was very well organized. The food and service was excellent. My only issue was the Valentine menu was not explained to us we thought the price was for two . Will definitely be back in the near future.
Just a note that seating people with reservations was a little chaotic due to them only being open for a few days for dine-in after the last lock down. They seemed a little out of practice. There were two or more staff seating people and they seemed a little confused about which tables were open and which were occupied. And it was Valentine's Day weekend to add to the busyness. The phone was ringing off the hook, and they were putting out curbside pick up orders as well. All in all the food and service was very good for our table given the stress they were under. Our appetizer and food order first went to the table beside us, but was easily redirected to us. I was told that the table we were seated at is not usually on the floor plan, so might have added to the confusion. Prime rib was tasty, cooked properly and the sides were hot and flavourful. Good job all round.
Felt like the service was a little over baring at first then by the end there was no service. The server had taken payment for half the table and then left the table for almost 10 minutes I had to flag down the manager to finish our payment. Main meals also took quiet a while to come out. Food was very good, the manager also gave us a dessert because we were celebrating a birthday which was very nice.
Food was good unfortunately service was bad . Staff were very apologetic due to them reopening starting issues. Staff issues obviously will go back later when staff gets added.
Are fault for going opening week. Should of waited for the fresh lobster instead of the pre lock down inventory! Knowing what lobster should taste and texture should be! They were very understanding at Calgary trail location. Very much appreciate for realizing that meal was not up to standards or quality.
I found the price of the food in way matches the standard of the food you were selling on our visit. $45 for 3 slices of carrot and 1 floret of broccoli and a 1 inch slice of sweetcorn with a fillet steak is a bit much if I'm honest. That and the fact that my wife and myself had to share 1 portion of fries between each other that was delivered 5 minutes after the steak had arrived seemed wrong too. A total bill of $160 for couple of steaks and starters and sharing fries I actually consider to be extortion. The service was ok I can't fault that and I've been to buffet at that Sawmill and that was amazing but if your trying to serve Keg style food and prices I would suggest you get Keg qualified chefs that actually deliver that.
We have been to the Sawmill many times, but this time we did not even get any bread before the meal. Everyone around us got bread except us, so I asked the waiter why he did not bring bread and he said he was too busy - which was not an acceptable answer.
I don't think we will go to the Southside location again.
