Sawmill - South
Brunch was wonderful. But once the section filled up with a party of 35 the noise level increased to the point of not be able to hear what was at our table.
The reservation we made through OpenTable did not get received by the restaurant and unfortunately, we were seated at a table that was obviously less desirable due to its location between two large tables. We made a reservation in the hopes of having a nicer table rather than whatever was available when we walked in so this was a little disappointing.
It was a good experience overall. However, a little disappointing when we first entered at 6:15.
The first eating section was extremely noisy and the hostess was not as welcoming as she might have been.... again, a good experience overall.
Sawmill should be intimate and cozy.
No ambiance. High ceiling. Looks intimidating with heavy drapes more like a palace than a sawmill.
Meal was fantastic but service was a bit slow. Waitress was wonderful.
A while to first come to table then to get drinks.
Very enjoyable evening as we could hear each other. Some food excellent but some misses surprised us and detracted from experience. Yourshire pudding with no suitable sauce. Sauteed mushrooms too salty
Overall experience was very nice however the roast beef was disappointing, quite tough and difficult to cut.
It was our 29th anniversary so a special day!
We made reservations on line for Sunday brunch, Nov.10th, the whole process was easy to complete...
The whole experince was 10 stars out of ten stars... The food / atmosphere / the service / the manager, except for the prices of the food and beverages... Need more TV's in the lounge... I will recommend the Sawmill Sunday brunch to all my friends & family... My girlfriend & l will definitely be going back to Sawmill ...
The service was great but the food could have been hotter. Nice ambiance
The food was great as usual!! We love the Sunday brunch!
It was pretty busy there and the table we were at was is a high traffic area.
Overall it was a good experience!
A little disappointed that the staff did not get the notice on our reservation that we were celebrating our 53rd anniversary but overall we were very pleased with the service and our meals.
Food, Ambiance excellent, Service extremely slow, had to find someone to order a coffee and beverage, sat for 15 minutes, then went and dopa waitress, she brought us a coffee even dough it wasn’t her section, she finally found our waitress and she brought my wife a drink. Took a long time to get a refill, said her section was to large?
Server friendly and very efficient. Food was excellent and plentiful. I took the majority of my food home for the next day. So yummy! The sides were perfectly cooked and so tasty. I haven't had prime Rib in years and it was excellent. The only downside was where we sat. It was in the Lounge area. I would have preferred to be in the dining area. I really enjoyed the live music. Can't wait to go to Dueling Pianos.
The dining room is very dated and could use a renovation. Lighting was overly dim and I saw some customers had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu. The complimentary bread was very very dense. If it weren't warm, it would've been rock hard. There was also a piece of green onion or herb stuck to my bread that wasn't supposed to be there. I came for the 2 for 1 prime rib deal which was pretty good value. The meat was decent and the au jus was not bad. The Yorkshire pudding was overbaked and very crunchy to the point of being hard. The side of veggies was good. I got mashed potatoes that tasted like canned corn chowder for some reason. But I heard the baked potato was better. I had to get a drink for the prime rib deal and ordered a mochaccino while my dining partner ordered a latte. The latte was filled to the rim, but my mochaccino was only half full. Not sure why but it tasted ok. Overall it was an acceptable meal for the price I paid, but I wouldn't consider going back at full price.
Couple things waited over 45 minutes to get our food, had to send a steak back twice, steak was ordered medium which should be pink in middle when we first got middle of the steak was rare. got it back a second time still blood in middle.
One of our favorite spots always well done good service, good food, nice and relaxing no rush to leave.
Our meals were amazing and our server, Steve was awesome! He really made our experience great! He was knowledgeable in helping us make our choices and was very funny as well! We had a great evening.
The former Moose Factory (now Sawmill), which has always been the signature restaurant of the Sawmill Restaurant Group, has constantly evolved to meet the very high expectations of it's customers for food quality, service and ambiance, whether patronized by single customers or various sized large groups. Now, along with entertainment regularly scheduled, the Sawmill is a must for my wife and I on a frequent basis.
3 meals out of 4 had to be returned to the kitchen. One meal was ordered as steak bits and the server came back and said they were out of steak bits. What the hell. Out of steak bits in a steak house. Take a steak and slice it into pieces. Your chef the evening we were there was very incompetent to say the least. I will never return to the Sawmill south. I have been going to the sawmill south since it originally opened in the 70s
Overall experience was good but service was extremely slow.
Food was delicious. Did not like that at 7.45pm things ran out and were not refilled and heard the one man say to a customer it wouldn't be. Waited around an hour for a server to come back around and ask if we wanted a drink.. I had to flag her down so allot of lost sales I suppose. So service was average.. However the food saved the day.
Buffet had a lot of great options and reasonably priced.
Excellent food. Amazing service. Highly recommend brunch buffet.
Amazing service and food as always. The entire family enjoyed their time at the Sawmill for Brunch. Love the waffle station!
The food was fabulous!! Love the decor and the ambiance. Our server was another story. He wasn't friendly, never came to ask how our food was, anytime we wanted his attention he would rush right by us. There was music in the lounge and it was full. I'm not sure if he was working in there too or not. Where we were sitting was the opposite side of the building so was quiet. Not very busy on that side.
We took friends there for the first time and they were not impressed.
We noticed a manager or something went to the table beside us and ask them how thete evening was going. He never came to ask us. We were thinking after that maybe because we weren't drinking alcohol and spending more money they ignored us. We all had an expensive meal and soft drinks (none of us drink).
Very very poor service. It will be awhile before we go back and our friends won't.
We attended the dueling pianos and it was awesome. The service was very good. It was really busy so the food was just ok. We would go back. Very cool show.
It was our first time at the Sawmill and probably our last.
- food overall seemed under seasoned, nothing special
- took forever to get some ketchup
- no melted butter for seafood
- English muffin on the eggs benny was super hard to cut so we ended up taking the toppings off
- cheese cake seemed under baked
- our table was levelled with coasters
Food was good. Service was good. Overall-good.
The food was good. Was hoping for more flavour in the prime rib. Overall experience was good. Just not 5 star good.
I have to say I love this place! the staff was so friendly and accommodating. I brought a friend for Sunday brunch the were 5 of us total and we had such a great time we didn't want to leave. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be back :).
Food was cold. Way to high Price for what was on plate. Unfriendly waiter. Thought I was at Domo for Anniversary. Bread pudding desert hot no taste. Long Islsnd Ice Tea Cocktail was in a 4 oz glass. 100.00 just wasted. Thought it would be like the Old Sawmill for quality but was mistaken. Should have gone to Fatburrger.
We enjoyed our night, food and service were excellent. Love the Saturday night entertainment atmosphere is great. Pot roast is highly recommended. Thanks to Roy for being a great host. Barb, John and Dan.
The atmosphere is great, not too open and noisy. Live music on the Saturday we were there- excellent even though a bit on the oldies side.
Staff is so friendly. They had the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen and the Prime rib was fantastic. We are just visiting from Brandon MB but if we ever come back to Edmonton, this will be our first stop.
It was very disappointing.. the service was very poor ... didn’t get the appetizer until after the meal , didn’t get the wine until it was asked for .... never did get the dessert. This was the Thursday special which was described to me incorrectly.
Great food, wasn’t too noisy, good location, lots of parking
Good and delicious food, attentive staff who went above and beyond. And perfect ambiance for a family gathering
Sadly our five meals arrived freezing cold, and then were reheated making the steaks and prime rib like rubber. We ended up going somewhere else to eat but the management was outstanding on how he handled the issue.
When we arrived our table was not reserved for us. Obviously they didn’t get that we had hoped to be at the dueling piano night. They offered a table but without heaters it was too cold to be outside with the way we were dressed. We did not get that this was on the patio. We ended up sitting in the bar hoping to catch some of the music.
The ladies who served us were learning and so the confusion continued. This was a special evening for us as we were celebrating and thanking friends on our anniversary. If we would have know it would set up like this we would not have drove one hour fifteen to go here.
When served we weren’t given any bread which in other Sawmill restaurants is always brought. We are very disappointed but made the best of it and our friends were very gracious about all that went on.
great food and service, very decent crowd and great prices
Sawmill South is one of our favorite dining rooms. We love the quiet ambience, the large comfortable seating, the food and the service. We were somewhat disappointed this visit as both my husband and I ordered a steak, both requested medium rare. Both steaks came out well done. We did comment to our waiter, and he did send over a manager. He was apologetic, and did offer to bring out another steak, but by this time we were almost finished our meals, and declined. He did offer, and we accepted a free dessert for my husband, and a special coffee for me. When the bill came, we were both a little surprised that no deduction was applied to the bill. We didn't expect that an entire dinner be taken off, but even 10 to 15 percent would have been acceptable. We don't 'cheap out' when we dine out, we ordered an appetizer, a bottle of wine, and I had the add on of a lobster tail. I know we will return to the South side Sawmill location, however, if there is an error in our food again, we will directly ask for a discount.
HI Annmarie Thank you taking the rime to review, we are sincerely sorry for not delivering an memorable experience,we will connect with you , i would love to follow up and make things right, Thanking you
