Sawmill - South
This location has built its reputation on the Sawmill formula. Serving over half a dozen different cuts and sizes of "AAA" Alberta beef one can't go wrong ordering any one style. The Moose Factory has become known for many unique qualities like it's luncheon buffet Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. which attracts the busy luncheon crowd with dozens of salads and an array of hot items to choose from daily.
Private dining rooms, banquet rooms, 40-foot ceilings, outside patio bar and grill, Tom Goodchild's Moose Factory will have a place for you any day of the week. Come to experience the ambiance and enjoy the entertainment of a classic tableside Caesar or Chateaubriand.
Server was excellent and food was tasty. Thought it was a bit expensive, especially for the kids. Wish they had an option for having a Caesar salad done at the table.
Have been here a few times and always have an enjoyable experience. Food is tasty and a nice variety; something for everyone! This time I was not impressed with the service. Every time we needed a coffee refill, we had to get the attention of our server and ask. Not once did he come around and offer. Same goes for water, it was never refilled.
Disappointed with our dining experience at Sawmill (south). I remember the food being of better quality in my past dining experiences. I ordered the chicken and rib plate - the chicken was extremely dry, even the dark meat was dry! The ribs weren’t very “fall off the bone” soft. The dish was very ordinary, nothing amazing about it and quite expensive for what I received. The ambiance of the restaurant is very dark, old rustic, dated interior. For this $20-35 price point there are so many other great restaurants that I’d rather dine at.
Excellent choices on the menu
Service was amazing
Food was delicious
Enjoyed it very much!
Had a get together with friends we hadn't seen in a while. Staff was fantastic and didn't rush us (even though we were the last ones there and we hadn't realized they had closed !)
The restaurant was extremely busy for the few staff assigned to our seating area; however, the slower pace in service served us well. We appreciated the larger spacing in service, as it allowed us to enjoy a more intimate time visiting with our good friends. The servers were polite, engaging, and attentive. The food was exceptional in taste and presentation, and of good value. The ambience was intimate and quite.
Good friends and good food equated into a wonderful dining evening.
Exceptional service and food. Excellent value for the money! Will comeback again.
Service was a little slow. The food wasn't exceptional like we've been used to in the past.
Had the most amazing meal and friendliest waiter... had mentioned it was my husbands birthday we were celebrating so I sort of expected a complementary dessert for him, but other than that it was an awesome dinner out :)
The service was terrible, extremely slow.We waited very long to get a drink order , we actually had to go and find the waiter on a couple occasions. The prime rib was of poor quality. Very disappointed as it is your specialty. The restaurant wasnt very busy so we were surprised at the lack of service. Thx
Careful when you pay your bill, our waiter tried charging us $27 over the bill before tip. Make sure the tip machine is correct before approving the transaction
Food was really good! However our server was not very good. He ignored us while helping and being more attentive to the other guests. Took 30 mins to get our cheque.
It was a very pleasant dining experience for my husband and myself. We plan on returning next time we are in Edmonton!!
The food is always amazing. The waiter was a bit slow. Slower than the previous servers I have had at this establishment. It is a great spot to enjoy Lunch or Dinner.
I miss the old Moose Factory; it was much more formal and classy than the standard Sawmill. Plus I preferred the old menu with the escargot in Gorgonzola. There seems to be less variety. Wait staff is more casual than Moose Factory standards. At least it is way quieter than the Keg. Just curious why I would be sat in an empty section next to a table with three young children next to me... could have been spaced out and had a romantic meal with my husband than sit with a family. House rye was horrible.
Great food and enjoyed the environment
The Moose factory needs a Reno, one of the chairs at our table was broken and the finishing is wearing off the tables and countertops. We have been numerous times over the years, the food is OK, not bad but not WOW.
We went to it thinking it was the Moose Factory, with the wonderful Moose Factory menu. We had not been for years and did not realize that it was totally a Sawmill restaurant now with none of the uniqueness and specialness of the Moose Factory. The waitress was great.
This was a very disappointing experience, especially since this was booked for a business brunch meeting. I'm not sure where to start. First, I wandered around the restaurant for 20 minutes to find someone to seat me based on my reservation, but the entire restaurant was deserted. There was no host at the front of the restaurant. At some point, a woman directed me to table 30 but the tables were not numerically labeled. I sat at a nearby table to wait for my colleague who arrived shortly after me. We had to find the menus ourselves and while looking over our items we were asked to move to the lounge area as that was the only part of the restaurant that was open at noon. Food options are limited and the salmon was unremarkable. My colleague's beef dip was soggy straight from the kitchen. Very limited service throughout our stay and no refill of water from the tiny cups provided. I haven't been to the Moose Factory in many years, and based on my previous positive experience I chose this restaurant for this meeting. It was embarrassing.
Disappointing. At these prices, I expect much better quality. Slow for food to arrive. Steak and prime rib were not hot enough. Manager nicely wanted to take care of it by comping desserts- but they didn’t get that right and had to ask for it.
Our meals were cold and dry. I also requested a spot by the fireplace for my partner that gets cold easily. We didn't receive that either.
The food was fantastic and delicious. They had a wonderful Valentine special, and it was an excellent meal and the service was exceptional (our waiter was knowledgeable and personable). I would definitely recommend this restaurant, the dining experience one of the best we've had.
My family and enjoy your food only we have longest to drive otherwise we love your food and my kids call it the fancy restaurant! That should explain lots good job guys.
Wasn't worth the price. Service took a while and items were over priced.
Very different from Tommy Goodchild- sadly, not a good change. They put us in a booth- we reserved a table- food was cold, manager didn’t come to say hello- and it was just like sit, order, eat- get out.
Very chilly as well- usually a cozy/warmer restaurant- guess not anymore. Did hear good things of the murder mystery parties.
Great overal. Booth a bit uncomfortable. Next time we will choose table. Had to ask for buns twice. Butter came without butter knife - a bit tacky. Had to use stake knife. When smallar knife finally arrived at our table it was a regular knife and not a butter knife.
As always great food and great service. Good selection or wine, beer and spirits. Awesome place for a celebration.
Absolutely delicious . Good price for
Valentines special. Mannish was an excellent server. Will definitely return.
Outstanding service, delicious food. We come to this location several times a year and it never disappoints.
Great food, great service, and great wine prices on Wednesday!
Server was amazing, food was quite bad. Chose it for a birthday dinner and it was pretty disappointing.
Excellent food and great service as always. They never disappoint.
Food was great. Service was great.
Only complaint was that we were seated by the fireplace (a bit too warm) and the chairs there are HUGE and very low and very difficult to move to get in and out of. We didn’t ask for another table, but I’m sure had we, it wouldn’t have been a problem.
We will be return customers, but will specify not to be seated at fireplace table.
We really enjoyed our meal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They accommodated all our requests and made the experience wonderful.
Our waiter was awesome! Excellent service.
Brunch Buffet food was awesome food selection. For 20+ dollars per person....its very Satisfying and u get more than ur money worth. Their Steak was delicious as always and the Service was Great😍🤩😊Keep it up guys😍🤩👍👌
Excellent service with an absolutely fantastic selection of Sunday buffet items! So many to chose from, I had prime rib and my husband had breakfast! Spacious and Gracious
Great ambience and perhaps even a little too dark. Tad long to get seated I thought. However, once at our table our orders were taken quickly by a congenial male server. The appetizer, mushroom with crab meat was not great. Mushrooms were not tasty and the crab meat was obviously canned. However, the prime rib ordered by my wife was quite tender and juicy. I found my cab steak to be very yummy. All in all quite a satisfactory meal. Likely to return but will be wiser in picking appetizers.
The brunch usually has better and fresher food.
I was not very impressed with the "New Year's" brunch.
Sadly, the moose factory has lost its charm, would not recommend. Waiter had no time for us, menu changed to restaurant/fast food, warm buns looked Portugal- plopped down at the table- usually a variety, warmed in a cloth napkin, baked potato was cold the butter didn’t melt and while serving the butter and sour cream, let the bottom of the serving set- sit right down in my plate (I was sitting beside) seriously! The manager did come over and say hi and a visit- mean while the waiter gave us the bill before asking us for desert (we were there for a birthday, so yeah desert).
