Sawatdee Maple Grove
Serving award-winning Thai cuisine since 1983, Sawatdee is home to Thai food, sushi, a great happy hour, live music, and impeccable service.
When we first opened our doors at 1983, the Sawatdee mission was simple: to take our community on an adventure full of Thai flavors and good times. Many years later, that adventure is still as exciting as ever. Not only we expanded with more restaurants to share our flavors with more folks, we've added to to the flavors we offer, as well!
Our Maple Grove location offers a contemporary dining environment tailored to the tastes of the Northwestern Suburbs. Now offering Minnesota craft brews on tap.
Thai it. You'll Like it! (c)
Next time make sure the appetizer comes out before the main course. If you have a special menu for valentine's day make sure you have both dessert options available. Last make sure that the bill comes out right rather than have to ask the server if their was a problem with our bill because it says you owe 0.00.
It was delicious. Waitress was nice.
My son recommended the restaurant for his birthday. Service and food was excellent! It made his birthday a success!
Booth seats can use some fixing. Good food, nice music, great service!
We did not receive any fortune cookies after the meal . Food was ok not as hot as some of us requested ( ordered a 3 and it was no different than a 2 ) wait staff disappeared when we could have asked a few questions about the food but overall was ok
The food at Sawatdee in Maple Grove was good but not the best I have had in the Twin Cities area. The flavors were ok but not exceptional and the heat/spice level was adjusted with the addition of more dried chili flakes. Not the best solution since the higher spice level was still pretty mild compared to other Thai and Asian places in the area. Also, some of the stir fry dishes came out stew-like with more liquid than we were expecting. The Sawatdee location in downtown Minneapolis was a much better experience.

So bad it was laughable. My wife and I had Valentines day reservations so knew it would probably be busy. Once seated our waitress told us they were running behind because it was so busy. We noticed the place was only about 2/3 full but figured ok, maybe it will be a bit delayed. But it was all downhill from there. They had a Valentines day for two special, 2 drinks, app, 2 entree's and desert. We placed our order, which seemed to confuse our waitress. Fifteen minutes later she returned to let me know they didn't have the beer I ordered. I chose a different one and finally, twenty minutes after getting there our drinks finally arrived. About this time a horrible Michael Jackson cover band started blaring bad music. Finally, 52 minutes after we arrived our order arrived. We told our waitress it's been nearly an hour and we still haven't received our appetizer, which again confused her. She said she'd go check and returned with a plate and announced "it's been back there the whole time". Everything on the plate was now cold. By now we just wanted to leave and the waitress again arrived and told us that there were only two of the deserts left that we ordered, so we couldn't have it. This obviously confused us since there were only two of us, but I guess they found something else that they deemed we could have and brought us a different desert. So....to sum up if you want Thai food in the area, skip Sawatdee, just go to Lotus or even Ruen Thai in Osseo, the food is much better at both and about half the price.
