As natives of Pittsburgh, my husband and I return to our home town of Pittsburgh often. Sometimes to celebrate and sometimes to mourn. This visit, we had the opportunity to do both. My fathers birthday is on the 13th of March, our aunts birthday is on the 31st and my husbands grandfathers birthday is on the 22nd. My husbands grandfather will be turning 98 this year. Unfortunately, he isn’t doing so well. He has lung cancer. We pray he gets to see his next birthday.
We knew that we wanted to celebrate at our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh, though. We made the reservation and got excited. I think my dad checked the menu online like 10 times before we got there!!
Going to the Savoy kept our spirits high that day. The staff was absolutely lovely. The food was aromatic and delicious. The ambiance was classy and inviting. Everywhere I looked around, all I saw and felt was love, especially at our table top of 5.
I sincerely want to take the time to say thank you to the staff for AGAIN making our time there remarkable!! My husband has pictures of the food that we were served. Chef, the way you plated... OUTSTANDING! Our waitress was so kind and helpful. The hostess was very warm and sweet. In the end, the birthday King and Queen wanted to be responsible for the tips! They had a great time!! We had a great time!! Thank you.
It was jazz night, so loud, but that was the plan, and expected. Fantastic food, not had a steak that good since ive lived in Pittsburgh. Very friendly staff. Wonderful experience. It's a little pricey for just a monday night, but so worth it.
The food was amazing!!! They weren’t ready when we got there, they were still setting up the restaurant and the service was slow. Took awhile to get our food and check. I wouldn’t go if you don’t have a long time window. But like before, the food was amazing!!!!
Way over priced for the experience. Out of several items on a Saturday night. Meal was delivered with wrong accompaniments, wine selection was limited, nothing was remarkable about this place.
Great classic restaurant with the perfect balance of attentiveness without rushing you through. Best Veal Chop of my life!
My husband and I went for a Valentine’s Day meal. We LOVED the calamari! He got the stuffed salmon and I got the Teriyaki Salmon. Both were very tasty and we were full. I enjoyed the Perfect Pair and the Good Life Gimlet off the mixed drinks menu. Only downfall was we were too full for dessert and our poor waiter seemed to have the whole restaurant, so as it filled up it was harder to get his attention. But overall great food and great experience!
The experience was wonderful. We loved the atmosphere. The service was very personalized, we were allowed to take our time between courses. My biggest complaint was with the seasoning of the food. The food was too SALTY
Great atmosphere with modern style service was good staff not-so-friendly would like them to be a little bit more welcoming other than that great place!
Didn't know this place is open for afternoon coffeee. Miss the brunch down there. Hope it would be open for brunch on Mother's Day--my mom was able to eat those kinds of food and was very reasonable. Waiter and waitresses were nice. Everyone there is friendly. Music is fabulous along with Charlie singing.
Great food & service. Love the ambiance. Had the twin lobster tails & gumbo, best I ever had. You gotta try the savoy.
I absolutely love this place! We were here for a birthday dinner and it was perfect. The service was excellent the moment we walked in. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. Haven't tried dessert yet but there will be a next time!
The jazz on Monday night was great as is the ambiance. The service, however, was terrible. It took us 20 minutes to get our drinks and another ten to get water. You don't go here for the food but the truffle french fries are a good bet.
Food was good, but not anything I would rush back to get... had a hard time getting over the waitress that became non existent, compared to the table next to ours waiter. When asked about bread for table after she finally showed up(1/2 way through salads) she said, " oh, that's my bad", then we recieved when salads were finished....like stated, not bad, but a little disappointing
Go for a Fabulous jazz evening at the Savoy
Lamb chops and salmon are our favorite dishes
Food was excellent and server was awesome! Great experience, loved the atmosphere!
My food came out a bit cold.Plus a few good items were not available. They need to pre-warm their plates. The service was no good. She was not present most of the time. And when I paid and relaxed we were a forgotten thought.
This was our first time here and we can’t say enough good things about the service and the food. It was a date night for me and my hubby and they gave us complimentary champagne and dessert. We had an incredible dinner and the service was great!
Nice atmosphere, but expensive for 2 people bill came to 90 dollars and we had Pasta dishes. Sangria was good! Service is excellent, the waiters and wait staff are very personal and accommodating! Very nice people that work there!
Two types of beer was unavailable that was ordered from our table. Wings were ordered naked and they came with breading on. Waffle and chicken was ordered when it came there was five chicken wings with waffles for $25. 20% gratuity was added to my check that I do not have a problem with. That was paid. Then three more beers were ordered and they added a $23 tip for three beers. When I question them about it they said it was all added together from my food bill. When I got home that night it was not taken off my food bill. When you try to call the Savoy about this nobody returned your phone calls.
The service was rather poor, although it was friendly. We waited several minutes before we were offered a drink menu, the food took nearly 2 hours to be served, and they were out of dinner bread, (although other tables had it). The food was delicious and the waiter was very friendly, but could use better training in a restaurant setting like Savoy.
This was me and my husbands first visit at Savoy. Our reservation was for 7:00 pm, which I'm assuming is still considered "Dinner" time for most. However, we were advised that several of the menu items were not going to be available. This was VERY DISAPPOINTING since the menu was limited in options, to begin with.
Service was amazing! My food was only a little slow coming out so both my cocktail and my glass of wine were free! So sweet and hospitable.
Overall a disappointing experience relative to expectations. Kitchen had run out of several things including mushrooms for the sautéed spinach we ordered. The bar was out of the Veuve Clicquot that we ordered. The “substitute” was sub par and over priced; should have passed on it or rejected.
Brought my girl friend here for live music, and did not realize it was on another day but still enjoyed the atmosphere. Ordered food, that took a long time to come, but the manager did what a manager is supposed to do. He took care of our bill and even a drink on the house. That goes a long way...We will be back for some live music. Food was great.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced. It was modern and lively! The entire staff couldn't have been nicer!
Good food. Great vibe. This review is of the mother's day brunch. This was my 2nd year in a row that I attended their brunch. The reservations run on time. The servers are fantastic. The food was very good and everyone in my party enjoyed it.
Food was good. Services has gone down hill since 2 years ago. No napkins on table , we had to ask for them and they brought a pile of paper napkins. Waitress did not check on us to see how we were. Ordered 4 omelettes and they got every one of them wrong and they were not good. Disappointed!
Took my wife for mother's day brunch. The food was great. Our server Alex was very nice. Overall it was great.
Food could be better, selection wasn’t that great. I had higher expectations for a place that positions itself as higher end. Service and atmosphere was great,
food not so much. The variety could be better too!!!
Although there weren’t any veggie options on the menu, the chef was very accommodating and made something for us. The sides were great too!
Jazz night is great!
Order special, filet and lobster. Food very tasteful and ample serving. Music good and not too loud.
Worst food ever Dry uncooked poor service Better food at mc donald’s. Will be closed in one year
We were seated for 30 minutes before we got our wine service was extremely slow. Mismanaged. Clearly would have had 2-3 more drinks had service been better. Food was average. The guest at the next table sent her Lobster back because it was not cooked.
Had to wait to get the check; had to wait for the waiter to come back and take it. Just an all around poor experience.
Service was painfully slow; waiter did his absolute best but he was the only one working a busy Friday night ; manager was barking a lot of orders, but never jumped in to help
Expensive. Good steak. Service could be better. Meal can out in pieces over 10 minuets. Hard to get waitress attention with only 10 people in restaurant. Not cool. Busy socializing and having cigarette breaks.
My husband and I celebrated the anniversary of the first time we met, which was at Savoy, with dinner here. It was lovely. The staff was great. We look forward to many years of celebrations.
This restaurant IS the definition of culinary excellence in Pittsburgh! This is a place where you get beautiful food. The appetizers are enticing and enough to share. Entrees are plentiful with plenty of flavor. They even offer exclusive menu items I've never seen before such as the trending "Wagyu" beef served in a few ways. The beautiful atmosphere included artwork, a coat check where you actually HAVE to take your hat off. Excellent customer service greeted us from the moment we walked in until we "rolled" out the door. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family again and again!
This was our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. We chose the Savoy for its atmosphere and good food. We had a table for 2 however, surprise guests came to share in the occasion and a table for 4 was given us with no fuss. In addition, upon explaining the occasion and the surprise, my wife and I were given complimentary desserts with candles. The maitre d was gracious and polite taking our coats and offering us another table. I watched him as he cleaned the table with grace where we had been seated previously. He was graceful having a professional demeanor. He commented on us keeping secret our celebration and I am certain he alerted management because we were served dessert with candles. The waitress was great sharing in the occasion offering to take photos which she did. I attached the same.
My wife and I + friends had a great time. We have communicated this to others. This was not our first time there but our third and we will return.
Thank you so much
awesome food! Pork chops and chicken Chardonnay highly recommend! Have us free glasses of champagne for the birthday!! Very empty when we were there but it was nice! Definitely a great atmosphere for young people- popular music and cool ambiance
