We had a lovely meal and the service was quite nice. Only issue its that ew were hoping to enjoy the full menu, and found out that there was only a limited prix fixe option available to celebrate Bastille Day. We booked through OpenTable, and the limited menu availability was not communicated on that site.
An unexpected surprise was smoked brisket made on the premises with a fabulous bbq sauce on the side!
Great time at the Bastille Day celebration buffet, brunch. We took friends and had a terrific time. Excellent food and service.
My second time here. Great food and service.
We knew we were in store for an excellent meal whenever we go to Savona- and this time was no exception. John our server was awesome… he was attentive, very professional and had a great sense of humor which made the evening even more fun !
My wife got the filet and it was the perfect temp/color. I got the short rib which was good but not excellent. A little drier than I like.
Apps and dessert were great.
We struggle to understand why people like this restaurant so much! It was our third time spread out over a few years, always the same...some dishes are great (so you need to know which ones- beet salad was killer) & others are dry/ flavorless and not impressive (seared halibut) . It’s a shame, pretty space and in our neighborhood.
Disappointing food tonight. I tried the peach panzanella salad which did not resemble an authentic panzanella (rock hard instead of soaked bread), had no peach and was painfully acidic. Then I had the halibut special which arrived over cooked and very dry, served with boiled greens. For this (and two glasses of wine) I paid $100+. You have to do better at these prices.
Attentive staff but messed up order of food, spilled things and didn’t clean up. Food was disappointing.
We enjoyed everything very much. There were some hitches in the service. Suggestion: When a dessert takes more time, it should be listed on the menu so diners can decide whether they can spare the time.
Excellent food, especially the meatballs!
Wonderful food , wonderful service!
Delicious food. Great outdoor dining area.
Horrible in every way. Sent back bronzino
Waited half hour for drinks
No waitress until we got up after 20 to find one
Drinks weren’t properly cold
Absolutely delicious meal with impeccable service.
Will definitely be back!!!!
First time it was GREAT!
This last time the food was very salty.Brussels sprouts and Calamari. The wood grilled sirloin was very tough! I should have got the short ribs.
The food kinda ruined it for us....probably won’t go back. However my wife did love the “Runaway” martini
Savona provided a nice experience to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
Enjoyed a great meal at Savona! The atmosphere was upbeat and the food terrific. Will go again at some point.
Sad. Not what it used to be. Food is still excellent but service was not good. Entree took excessive amount to come out. Server only acknowledged it once we cornered her about it. She then made a comment that there was a five minute delay in getting it out. More like a thirty minute delay. We also told the person that seated us that it was our 25th anniversary. Absolutely no acknowledgement. Lastly, server brought the wrong check at the end. When we left, the manager asked how everything was. Where was he during our entire meal? He should have seen how long we were sitting at an empty table or the server should have told him. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I live very close to it and would love a reason to go back but don’t think I will.
This was my first time visiting Savona and I have heard so many great things about the restaurant. It is quite expensive; however, the atmosphere and ambiance are wonderful. Some entrees I would rate as a 5. Two from our party ordered pasta dishes which were just ok, especially given the price. We did have an enjoyable evening overall.
This was a very pleasant experience. Plan to come again.
We sat in the outdoor covered area and it was nice to be able to eat "outdoors", though the restaurant is on a major street and you hear some traffic. The food was excellent and the waiter was friendly and very attentive. I like that the waiters wear suits! Don't see that much anymore.
One of our favorite places. Dover sole is always exceptional, and this was no different. Tuna tartare was equally phenomenal. The burrata with peaches and bread and onion and tomatoes was OK at best--too much bread, not enough peaches. Wines, particularly the French chardonnay, and banana split were very good. Lamb loin chop was very nicely done rare and was quite good. Service generally fine and attentive.
It was my mom’s birthday and I want it to be special , and I think it definitely did just that . My only problem was the special I ordered was quite simple, , I would have preferred if it had come with potatoes or rice , my other problem was the price for the fish special , was very expensive and the price was not disclosed before hand . This is my fifth time there . I actually celebrate my birthday dinner there . Overall the experience , just didn’t plan on spending as much as I did . Thx u. Love the restaurant .
Everything was very good, but the manager should teach the servers not to clear the plates until everyone at the table has finished his/her course. This is a high-end restaurant and the servers were very pleasant and polite, but it isn't polite to remove one person's plate until everyone at the table has caught up to the fast eater.
I took my mother here for her birthday and we had such a wonderful experience. The Runaway cocktail was the perfect amount of tart and sweet; the martini came exactly as ordered. We decided to share all plates. We started with the yellow fin tuna crudo - perfect amount of kick and fresh ingredients. We then shared two entrees - the pan-seared day boat scallops (four huge scallops with great flavor) and the saffron fettuccine with little neck clams. Everything was well balanced and just the right size. Highly recommend!
We had an extremely unfortunate evening at Savona last week. We were a party of 9, getting together to celebrate a grandmother’s 86th birthday. Right from the start, our server appeared very “odd” to all of us. As she continued to speak to us, she seemed to be slurring her words, and was chewing a piece of gum that was visible and half falling out of her mouth. She took our orders, and then, about 25 minutes later, returned to the table to take our orders again, “just to clarify”. We discussed the option of complaining to someone, but hesitated, as we did not want to get our server in trouble. After another 30 minutes, when all we had been served was a bottle of wine, one of us went and spoke to a manager. At that point, we had been sitting at our table for over 1.5 hours. A few waitstaff then came to our table and took our orders, for the third time that night, and acknowledged that our orders had never been put trough to the kitchen. We were finally served our dinner, in a haphazard manner, after we had been seated for about 2 hours. The manager was very apologetic and accommodating, as were the other servers who were clearly stretching themselves in order to take care of us.
We have eaten at Savona many times, and have always had top notch service and excellent food. This was a most unpleasant experience. We are hopeful that it was an aberrancy.
Excellent food and service all around.
We were shocked when we received the check and the Dover Sole was $50 plus dollars. We don't have a problem ordering an entree that price (we also had the filet). The problem is the sole was a special and the server didn't tell us how much it would cost. Normally the server lists the prices after each special. The manager did come to our table and, I think, he was offering us drinks on the house, but it wasn't clear and we didn't want to pay for additional drinks. Also, we were 10 minutes late for a 6:00 pm reservation (the hostess pointed out we were 13 minutes late) so our table was no longer available. We were told repeatedly another group was coming in at 7:30?? Eventually we were accommodated but I'm not sure the staff should have told us about the people coming in at 7:30 pm. This really wasn't our problem (we were outside with the valet for at least 8 minutes) and I don't feel that's the type of thing you say to customers. Very "assembly line" (I understand your a business but would we have been asked to leave our table at 7:25 pm to make room for the next seating??) A good friend I hadn't seen in ages flew up from FL to see me and I made reservations because I wanted to take her to a really nice restaurant. I hadn't been to Savona in some time (I was a weekly regular 15-25 years ago). I'm not sure I'll be back. The beet salad was very good but the chicken was really dry. The sugarless chocolate cake was like a brick. Three people with spoons and we left most of it on the plate. The chairs were very comfortable and the enclosed porch was fairly quiet so we could hear ourselves talk (a positive).
The service was excellent and the food was spectacular.
This is the Savona of old. With Drew in the kitchen and Pablo ( Popi ) Hertado running the bar, all is right with the world. Add an attractive, well trained wait staff and the restaurant will hold it's own against any competition. Certainly the best, by far, on the Main Line.
wonderful fare, beautiful table by the windows, a thoroughly lovely evening.Looking forward to returning
Our experience was a mid afternoon lunch celebration. It was a very nice experience.
The food was nothing less outstanding. Exactly as ordered, perfect temperature and the courses were very timely - not rushed and we were not waiting either.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and very much look forward to returning in the evening for drinks and dinner sooner than later.
Very nice restaurant - a bit pricey. Service was very good.
Savona used to be our “go to” but has become a disaster. It took an hour and a half to get our appetizers, had to flag down our server for refills, could hear the kitchen staff yelling at each other throughout the night and that’s just the beginning. It was definitely the worst Mother’s Day location. I’m embarrassed I selected it.
Service was attentive and professional.
Food was presented well and tasted delicious.
We have visited Savona 2 - 3 times of late after having been regulars a few years back and recently ate there for Mother's day. Food was great and I have always liked the drinks and wine selection. I think they have an ambiance second to none on the main line. The bartender we knew from our earlier days is back and he is a real plus. The kitchen is top rate; my read is that "execution" - marrying kitchen to service to table - has sometimes been the weak point and it continues to improve.
Didn’t feel welcome in the restaurant on Mother’s Day. Food was only okay. I ordered seared scallops which were way too salty. Brownie is too dry. My daughter ordered short rib which wasn’t what we expected. Overall we won’t return to this restaurant again.
Excellent service, valet parking, very good food. The staff seemed incredibly well trained. The time between courses could have been a little shorter but it was a fine dining experience.
The food was excellent! Unfortunately we had a long wait for our food to come after we placed our order. The food was worth the wait.
