We had an incredibly disappointing experience at Savida. We live in the area and love Mediterranean food, so were excited to try this spot after seeing all of the positive reviews.
Unfortunately this restaurant fell extremely short of expectations, with everything from the ambiance, service, and food, leaving a LOT to be desired. While the mezze and calamari were fine, the Savida salad and halibut were so soaked in dressing/sauce/salt that we could not eat it. It took 15 minutes for a server to come by our table and he offered no apologies. The owner walked by us waiting to order repeatedly and ignored us when we attempted to get his attention. The only positive aspect of our experience was the busser/runner who was attempting to compensate for the server’s lack of attention (and our server was frankly rude- like the owner) and the hostess who seated us.
We will absolutely not be back and suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
This is one of our favorite places in Tribeca. Service is always outstanding. We love the atmosphere, especially the home movies that are shown on the wall.
The mussels appetizer is out of this world. The ricotta gnocchi is my favorite.
We went with a group so decided to order most of the appetizers and a couple of sides. Calamari and grilled octopus were excellent. Short ribs cigars were also tasty. Falafels were a little dry. Limited beer selection.
Savida exceeded our expectations. The menu was filled with things we wanted to try. Everything we ordered was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. If you like Mediterranean food you must try Savida.
Once again, a marvelous meal at Savida. The fish is the best in the city -- fresh and flavorful. And the hospitality cannot be beat. Casual, yet elegant. Highly recommended!
Overall, this was the finest dining experience we have had in New York City! Everything was exceptional, to say the least. we were made to feel like members of the family as soon as we came in the front door.
Food really good but pricing confusing on Mezzes.
Waiters didn't know to whom plates should be delivered but were otherwise attentive.
However, dining is about more than excellent food (and Savida's food is really good), it's about the whole experience. We won't return because the noise level was truly unbearable. We couldn't carry on conversations.
A member of our party, an architect, suggested that sound absorbing tiles on the ceiling would help somewhat.
If you do something about the sound level, let us know: We liked the food and would like to return if we could actually talk to each other.
The food was delicious! The servers were attentive! And the ambiance was beautiful. My date and I felt like we were in Greece. We ordered the Messes to start with the calamari and grilled octopus. Then we had the branzino, lamb kebab, Greek Mac and cheese, lentils and lemon potatoes. Everything was SO good! We will def be back soon!
Delicious food (try the freekah!) and staff.
Wife and I were looking for an intimate restaurant with above average reviews. We were very happy with the food, ambience, and overall experience. The host went out of his way to give us our choice of table. Our server was pleasant enough although the service was slow. If we had been in a hurry it would have been upsetting. However, we were not in a rush so it was not a problem. We will absolutely go back the next time we’re in the area.
The fish is simply the freshest, cooked to perfection. The mezes are delicious. Go...
Why does open table think I didn’t show up!
Highly recommend...but, it could have been cooler.
Really nice service and owner on the floor to make sure you are enjoying.
What a great find! A very friendly staff with delicious food and a very comfortable setting. The grilled branzino was sweet and moist and the fish kebabs were tender and flavorful. Wonderful mezze selection.
We live down the block, Noam has a real special place for locals to feel like home. The fish is fresh and the portions are appropriate. Enjoy
Food was amazing, service was excellent. The only other comment would be similar to what others have said about the temperature in the room. It was hot outside when we were there, and quite warm inside. We will definitely return because of the food and the ambience, but it likely won’t be until the fall when the temperature drops, unless there is some improvement in the air conditioning in the room over the summer.
Air conditioning was broken, so it was hot and stuffy. Also very noisy. We cancelled our reservation and went to another restaurant down the street.
Way too hot, needs better air conditioning!!!
It was pretty empty when I went. Food was very good. First server wasn’t too friendly, but they swapped shifts and the one we ended up with was great. However, it was very HOT and humid that day, and no air conditioning was on. We sweated through dinner due to the stifling heat. If they had ac it would have been a great experience.
Certainly one of the better Mediterranean restaurants in lower Manhattan. Well prepared dishes with very nice presentation. Not inexpensive, but a good value. Service could have been a little more attentive. Definitely recommended.
Outstanding meal, attentive service, lovely decor. Wines by the glass choices are excellent, lavender gin martini was delicious. We had the mezze for appetizers - the hummus was out of this world and the babaganoush had a lovely smoky flavor. Homemade challah bread was warm and fresh. I had the branzino for my entree, which tasted like it was caught that day. My friend raved about the scallops. Prices for NYC were reasonable. Highly recommended. I will be back.
We were a group of four and fell in love with the food and the service. It does get a little warm as they do not have AC so better to visit on days that are not too hot.
Love this place. The seafood is amazing, fresh and perfectly prepared. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Food & Service was exceptional.
We went heavy on the appetizers (We tried and I would recommend everything on the menu) and added some salads and a fish. Works family style or individual orders.
Modern Mediterranean menu. Successful musings on the classics, beautifully presented. Flavors are well balanced and nuanced. Bar is lovely. Music is good too. Great neighborhood spot for brunch and dinner.
Relaxed & delicious great meal & service
The food was awesome and so was the service! My husband and I both had the fish and it was delicious. It’s very close to the subway and other bars to grab a drink. We will definitely be back!
Amazing food! Wayyyy too loud! Need sound proofing
One of the best new restaurants in NYC! I've been there several times and it just keeps getting better!!
Amazing cute place with awesome service and the food is fantastic
Amazing Mediterranean restaurant. Great ambiance and good food. Service was exceptional.
If you are looking for some authentic Mediterranean food then I suggest you try Savida. From the daily specials to the dessert, everything is made to order and was delicious. This evening we tried the hanger steak, bronzino, and scallops as our entrees. The staff was so polite, friendly and the location was very convenient. Plenty of parking on the street as well train stations within walking distance.
In spite of the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty, the music was cranked up so loud that my guest and I were wearied by the effort of hearing each other. But more to the point, the brunch menu bore no resemblance to the online menu that had attracted us -- a lot of baked egg dishes instead of the octopus and other mediterranean seafood dishes we'd hoped for. It felt like a bait and switch.
Delicious high quality food. Mezze platter phenomenal. Loved the spicy feta.
Food, service, ambiance, friendliness of staff all superb!
Food was tasty and ambiance great. Bit too pushy on selling dishes and drinks. Also forgot birthday we were celebrating, or just didn’t acknowledge.
Really good food from the varied mezze to the fish of the day, beautifully cooked. Very attentive service and great wine list. Our go to restaurant in Tribeca - thoroughly recommended.
This place was superb (albeit a bit noisy until towards the end of our meal, and even at its noisiest wasn’t so bad). The service was excellent. We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately. Very hip (can I still say “hip”?) ambience. We were quickly greeted at the table and given water and shortly after our great server arrived. We asked for her recommendations and she was spot on. We had a salad and some mezzes and we almost full by the time we got our main courses. Everything we ate was delicious. Everything. Whatever I didn’t finish (half of my main course) is todays lunch. Would definitely go back.
