About Satterfield’s Restaurant
Located in the heart of Cahaba Heights, Satterfield’s offers the freshest and best ingredients, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and an elegant ambiance–ensuring each guest has a memorable experience. Pastry Chef Becky Satterfield opened the restaurant in 2005 with the idea that fine dining doesn’t have to be pretentious, but rather should be relaxing for each guest with every possible detail attended.
While the menu changes daily, guests will always find Old-World flavors married with New-World sensibilities. Our favorites include steaks, fresh seafood, chicken, and game — each with noticeable French, Italian, Spanish or Mediterranean influences.
We have multiple seating options ranging from the main dining room to our chef’s counter, our outdoor patio, or our full service bar.

The food, service, and atmosphere is wonderful. I've been eating here for several years and Satterfield's never disappoints. They always pair delicious innovative flavors to the seafood selections and the Hereford Beef filet is consistently tender and delicious! I highly recommend the beignets or the chocolate torta with satsuma mousse for dessert.
From the time we entered with a warming welcome and personalized menu for the special occasion I knew we’d made a great choice. The foods aroma and taste was absolutely delicious and fulfilling! Then the beignets with sautéed apples and vanilla bean ice cream were the perfect seal to a perfect evening ! Thanks again will definitely be back!
Satterfield’s Restaurant has always been good. This was an early Thanksgiving celebration for our party of five. We were seated right on time. Food was great, as always and service was professional, as always. Bar service was a little slow, but the place was packed so we'll let that slide this time. We'll be back!
Note that valet parking is for the most part, required. The valet is courteous and quick.
Tonight was our first visit to Satterfield’s and won’t be our last. We live in Huntsville and we’re visiting Birmingham for the weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. From oysters to a salad to scallops for me and filet for my husband everything was outstanding!
We ate at the Satterfield's chefs' counter on a busy Friday night. There were a lot of new faces that came along with a recent change in the head chef position but the food and experience were as great as ever. I had the tomato salad and the duck and my wife had the fried green tomatoes and the pork tenderloin. All were magnificent. For dessert, we partook of the bananas Foster cake, which was also delicious. Our server, Paul, was very professional and gave detailed descriptions and made excellent recommendations. All of the wines and drinks were spot-on. We can't wait to get back to Satterfield's again!
This was my first visit and I was not disappointed. We had an early Friday evening 5:30 reservation. We arrived early for cocktails at the bar and when our reservation time and table was ready, the hostess let us know. We were escorted to our table and our server appeared with a smile, menus and we ordered 3 courses each. I ordered butternut squash soup (rich, velvety smooth), grilled grouper (tender, juicy) and candy bar tart (chocolate heaven). He ordered oysters (fresh), bacon wrapped steak (tender, juicy), and bananas foster (sweet, tasty). This was the best meal ever and we will certainly go back time and time again!
We had a wonderful dinner at Satterfield’s. The menu is locally sourced and the food is incredible. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate. Martin was our server and he was helpful and attentive. We will be back again soon! Craft cocktails were some of the best I have had in Birmingham. Satterfield’s is a little gem tucked away in Cahaba Heights.
We met friends from Florida, really felt great about bring them to Satterfield’s! The only downside was the loud noise from nearby tables, people were quite verbal! Otherwise, the service, food, and wine were all stellar. We know it is noisy where ever you go, so we definitely will come back!
We had our 4th anniversary there, and let them know beforehand. They had custom printed menus that said happy 4th anniversary. When my wife ordered dessert they brought a plate with happy anniversary written in chocolate across the top. Service was great. Food was outstanding. Can potentially be a little loud if you're sitting in the middle of the area, but let them know if you are having a special occasion and they will see you in a more private booths off to the side. Really great food and atmosphere.
The red snapper I ate was delicious and had no fishy taste to it whatsoever. All of the food was excellent. We ordered everything from appetizers to desert. The heirloom tomato salad was fresh and had an excellent dressing on it that I could not get enough of. The beignets for desert were incredible and melted in my mouth. Definitely will go back!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. The heirloom tomato salad and pan roasted yellow edge grouper were especially good. We seldom eat dessert but had to try the German chocolate cake. It was superb! We appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the professionalism of our server, Donald.
Went for the first time with my wife last week. The food was very good (although portions were a little small, waiter even suggested I get the steak over the scallops because its "more"). Could use some bread or something like that before the meal to help fill you up. Even though it was a little expensive, we will definitely be going back and have already told a couple of our friends.
We went for our anniversary and the food was fantastic! My boyfriend does not eat steak ever and he tried the filet and ate the entire thing. He said it was the best steak he had ever eaten. The service is just amazing and the desserts are delicious. We will be returning again. Tina was the best server ever!
Every meal I've had at Satterfield's has been exquisite! The food is always fresh and flavorful.
Every course has a unique combination of flavors and prepared (and presented) in an appealing way. When I take my first bite, I am never disappointed. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. The wine list has great options for pairing or, if you like what you like in wine regardless of the fare for the evening, they have something to please everyone. Save room for dessert because you won't want to miss out on Becky's specialties!
This was our 3rd visit to Satterfields and we have never been disappointed! The heirloom tomato salad was so flavorful. With Green Goddess dressing. My husband and I shared the filet cooked to perfection. We cut it with a butter knife. Still love this place, the Watkins
