About Satterfield’s Restaurant
Located in the heart of Cahaba Heights, Satterfield’s offers the freshest and best ingredients, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and an elegant ambiance–ensuring each guest has a memorable experience. Pastry Chef Becky Satterfield opened the restaurant in 2005 with the idea that fine dining doesn’t have to be pretentious, but rather should be relaxing for each guest with every possible detail attended.
While the menu changes daily, guests will always find Old-World flavors married with New-World sensibilities. Our favorites include steaks, fresh seafood, chicken, and game — each with noticeable French, Italian, Spanish or Mediterranean influences.
We have multiple seating options ranging from the main dining room to our chef’s counter, our outdoor patio, or our full service bar.

Satterfield’s Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I have been a loyal patron for several years.....but I must admit, this visit was incredible! 2/16/2018 was probably the best meals that we have had since we began visiting. The duck is always amazing, but this time it had more in common with a high end filet than with duck! The set up was amazing, so was the soup. Jenny had the fish of the day on the scallop dish set up. Again, near perfection
The ice cream scoops for dessert and the French press coffee was great as usual, as was the bar service!
Don't miss Satterfields!
We chose Satterfield's for our anniversary dinner. They hit all the marks on my favorites; appetizer with a fried egg, scallops for my entree, and creme brulee for dessert. I would definitely recommend and go again. Only real negative is it's a tight space and a bit noisy.
Had an incredible experience at Satterfield's on Saturday night. Got the soup as well as the cheese plate appetizer, date had the grouper entree and myself the steak. Everything was fantastic from the speed of service to the ambiance of the restaurant to the knowledgeable, friendly staff. Wish we could come here more often as it was one of our best meals in Birmingham!
The experience at Satterfields was really great. This is a fantastic place with a great wine selection. The breads are wonderful. We ordered steak tenderloin and a Grouper entree. The steak was served with a tomato gravy greens. The grouper was served with grits and a red sauce as well. The appetizer was the cheese plate which featured 4 cheeses that paired well with the wine. Great birthday treat fine dining.
We went for dinner as we noticed they had changed the menu recently. It was very good quality but the set served with each main was underwhelming. Our waiter was good but he rushed us and seemed slightly awkward at hospitality. We have been to this restaurant numerous times as it is close to our home and always delivers a fine dining experience.
My first time to dine at Satterfield’s, but it definitely won’t be my last! It was a fantastic dining experience! Reminding me of a hit Broadway play starring a cast of talented actors: waiters, and bartenders, led by a standup creative chef, who was only overshadowed by the excellent dishes he prepared. A standing ovation for this restaurant! I predict a very long run.
The food was a huge success with our group. Many comments of “best” (insert meal here) ever. Their pork loin is incredible and the bartenders make one of the best old fashioneds I’ve had. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation now. You won’t find many places to top the value for the price.
This was our first time at Satterfields and the food was excellent! We are a family who likes to share a lot, so everyone ordered something different and we were not disappointed by any dish. The wine list is extensive with plenty of affordable selections and our waiter Martin knew his wines as well as the food. We did a little mix and match on the sides and they took it all in stride with nothing but good suggestions. Since it was my birthday we really pigged out on dessert and after dinner drinks and I really can’t say enough about the great service and food. We can’t wait to go back and do it again!
I went on a Saturday Evening and Barry was the server. He was great. I wanted to eat local food and have a local drink. Normally I would have wine with my meal but since there was no wine from Alabama on the menu, I went with a local beer called Spring Street; it was good. I had the grouper and it was really delicious. I would highly recommend this place. There is parking in the back and would need to walk down the stairs. If you are handicapped, you would probably need to use the valet parking.
18 years living in the Birmingham area...by far the best dinner experience my wife and I have had the pleasure of enjoying!
Wether it’s date night wth your spouse, or your looking to give out of town guests an unforgettable taste of Birmingham, Satterfield’s delivers.
We dined at Satterfield’s to celebrate my daughter’s birthday on a Thursday evening with a party of 5. My reservation was for 6pm and we were immediately seated on arrival. Our waitress was Lucky and she was absolutely THE BEST! The wine list is excellent and Lucky proved to be s great wine consultant to help my daughter pick the perfect bottle. The coddled egg appetizer was the favorite and the beet salad was also fabulous. All five of us enjoyed the evening and we definitely will be back.
Unfortunately, we must have hit a bad night, although not crowded at all. Biggest disappointment was the service. I waited at least 10 minutes before deciding to get up and gather our wine from the bucket across the room and poor our own glasses. The food seemed luke warm like it had been waiting a while before serving. Everything was unusually slow. Eventually, we decided to skip dessert and leave rather than waiting for another course.
I left a 15% gratuity and felt like that was overly generous giving the circumstances.
We're not giving up on Satterfield's but it's down on our list for a while.
My wife and I visited Satterfield's for the first time this week for her birthday. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The presentation was just as good as the taste. We sat at the chef's table right by the kitchen, and we liked seeing how all the food was made and prepared. We will definitely be back.
The restaurant is always nice but the cost of the meal was not worth it. I know it was New Years Eve and you pay a premium but when you get told they will have certain items that are on the menu and they don’t when you arrive and you have to substitute for a lower quality for the same cost it takes away from enjoying your expensive meal.
Appetizer was great. The oysters were great. The coddled egg was great. The appetizer is the only reason for not getting two stars.
I was trying to decide between the snapper or trout and was recommended the snapper by the server as "one of the more popular dishes." It was bland and tasteless and required a knife to cut into. The grits it sat on were flavorful. The potatoes it came with tasted like... baked potatoes, no other seasoning. For nearly $30 a plate I really wanted to be wowed. Oh and the creme brulee was awful. I understand it's supposed to be touched and technically "burnt" but half of it was charred and brittle while the other half was actually edible. Service was great. Ambiance was nice. But for the price, the quality is subpar. Thankfully we were cashing in a gift card, otherwise we would have sent half the food back. Very disappointed. Would not recommend, except maybe just for oysters.
Food, Service, and Experience is always amazing. We decided to have a quick date night, was able to get a table last second and had a fantastic meal. We live in Cahaba Heights and are so proud to be able to have Satterfields in our community. The food is always consistently spectacular, their wine list is fantastic and their staff is first class. Price is fair for the quality and size portions. 100% recommend!
