Food was amazing, the restaurant is beautiful and the service was impeccable! Candice was attentive, offered wonderful suggestions and was just so very nice. She made me feel extra special for my birthday celebration. If you get an opportunity to eat there do! Don't let me get started on the drinks...
Amazing place. Excellent dining experience. Elegant. Exceptional.
Sassella checks all the boxes for a fine dining experience. Great staff, great location, an inventive and invariably well-executed menu. This is what Italian dining is supposed to be. Others in Santa Fe are old school, tired, or just not an all-around great place to dine.
We appreciate how each dish has been well thought out, tested, prepared and presented. We recently stopped in before the opera and loved the Caesar Salad, the soups-vide duck confit, and the carbonara. The pasta was executed almost as you’d have it in Italy, though there they drop a raw egg on the dish, while our health laws frown on that!
The wine list is superb and the owner/chef is always bringing in great new bottles to sample that are hard-to-find, always exquisite, and not necessarily budget busters.
Excellent select of gins and gin cocktails.
Porcini soup was perfect.
Until after serving our main course, service was very good.
After waiting a while to order desert, I was tempted to call the restaurant on the phone to locate a server. During that time our server brought the chef out to schmooze with a larger table and went back inside without coming to check on us.
We showed up a day early but they graciously accommodated us. We sat outside which was lovely. Food was well prepared and presented. The prices are expensive but I have no complaints about that. I did find the house white wine for $20 a glass and a short pour a bit out of line. A delicious Negroni was a much better deal and drink at $14. Would go again and do a better job of ordering wine.
Beautiful restaurant. Great service. A bit pricey
Start out with the Oysters and you won't be disappointed! Had a great dinner all around.
The food was great. The prices somewhat high but for good food it was worth it. The service was way too slow. Way too much time before ordering and between courses. We will likely not return because of that.
Great food. Limited parking onsite. Staff not sympathetic to the issue.
Everyone was very accommodating. The food was delicious and the presentation was perfect. This was our first time and we will definitely return very soon. Santa Fe has needed a wonderful Italian restaurant and I think this is it.
Excellent food and the staff was very attentive. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
The chef Christian, the GM Bella and our servers were outstanding. It felt like we were family. The food...OMG was delicious (veal chop - magnificent).. .the charcuterie could easily have been a meal for two carnivores (which we are!). They brought us a glass of Prosecco for our anniversary and from salad to dessert we were not disappointed. Rave review to all.
We received good advice from our server regarding portion sizes. Great menu and food was delicious!
Wonderful staff and menu!
So nice we decided to go back tomorrow!
The food was wonderful and sophisticated. However the firsts antipasti, the Il Culatello was so salty it took from the enjoyment. The bread was wonderfully toasted but someone added just too much salt and then to couple that with prosciutto that is already salty, it truly was too much, drank so much water and di influence my taste buds the rest of the evening. While I also understand that places are short staffed, the restaurant though was not full and yet the service was lacking. At least few times we had to look/ask for our waiter including waiting 15 minutes till we finally asked for someone so we could at least get some wine while while waiting to order and then throughout again and again we had to look for someone to get help. We started at dinner at 7.15 and left at 9.45. While we enjoyed the evening, was longer than needed to be and just not as enjoyable as we didn’t feel attended to. Hopefully this is helpful.
Had a beautiful anniversary Dinner there! Sooooo enjoyed it all
We expected dinner to be slow, at all the local restaurants, especially when food is made to order, but it seemed the kitchen needed an expediter.
The good—host was welcoming, server was very crisp and polite. He suggested, advised, when we asked for his input.
The bad—I ordered Pasta with Casio e Pepe. It was served with a raw egg instead of poached. Th waiter was on hand asking if I wanted it replaced with something else. I asked for the same pasta without the egg. It came out fast and It was delicious. I would eat it again.
The wine was very good, a red Sicilian and a California Sauvignon blanc.
My husband’s Veal rib chop soup vide lacked flavor despite being finished in the pan. The vegetables looked and tasted delicious.
The ugly—Although the service was exemplary, the food came outback very slow. A couple seated next to us, left after 30 min. Their menus were on the table for a good while before the staff was informed to reset it.
$20 for a bottle of water, aqua di, is shameful. Had I know the charge was over $8, I would have ordered tap. We drink wine during dinner.
I can’t blame the restaurant. I blame myself for not realizing there was a choice between still and tap at the time.
The ugly. After dinner, the chef was nowhere to be seen. The waiter was nice, apologized for the poorly executed simple pasta dish, but there was no offer of complimentary coffee or anything else.
At the end of the day, we enjoyed the meal. The experience was underwhelming. Maybe it was a off night. In any case the restaurant is overrated.
Excellent food and service. Very cool spot. Nice wine selection.
We had a fabulous experience at Sassella. Our service was impeccable, not hurried but there if we needed anything. The food was beyond delicious. We’d recommend the lobster risotto, veal chop Milanese, duck and a shrimp special. Just a delightful evening. We will definitely return!
We were a bit underwhelmed. The quality of the food is good, but the server was a bit pretentious. With a list of Italian wines, the server has to understand that not everybody speaks Italian and knows the nuances of every Italian varietal. He detracted from our experience.
If you are looking for a new experience in Santa Fe consider this restaurant. Plan to spend $$$. Great place for a special evening out.
Visited Sassella for a birthday dinner. We were very delighted with the food, and ambience and attentive service. We had to choose a very early time in order to secure a reservation: 4:30. On leaving the restaurant at 7 PM, I noticed 2 walk in groups being provided with seating with out reservations. Hmmm, what's that about? The staff could have been more accommodating to our early arrival, and waiting for our car to pick us up.
Great food, great service, was able to bring dog onto patio, loved it all!
I had the burrata and the lobster risotto - it was outstanding. My son had the melon with prosciutto -can’t remember the menu name- it was one the prettiest plates I have ever seen and he said it was incredible. He then had the bison Bolognese- I had a bite and you could tell it had been cooking for hours. Wonderful service also. Would highly recommend .
Everything was excellent. The only issue was the guest behind us. They had a very disturbing way of clearing their throat. I know. That sounds like nitpicking, but it persisted the entire duration of their and our visit. Wouldn’t mind at all, but each time we felt like me might need to jump in and help perform the Heimlich maneuver. No fault of the restaurant, of course. 5 stars. Once ignored, everything else was fantastic. Just kind of ruined the atmosphere for my girlfriend’s birthday. Service was excellent. Food was incredible.
Intimate dining experience. Carla our server was fantastic. Quality was superb, but quantity lacking. Ambiance was good for the amount of space; made the best of the limited area.
Incredible. Best meal so far in Santa Fe. Everything was perfect. Beautiful restaurant, service was excellent and the food was spectacular. The portions are perfect. We had the lobster risotto, spaghetti carbonara both had so much flavor we ate them so fast. Wonderful mushroom soup and Caesar salad was so unique. Finished with a perfect espresso crème brûlée. I could have eaten 3 of them. Absolutely wonderful experience. Fine dining at its best!
From arriving at the hostess desk to desert and leaving the restaurant our experience was perfect. The staff is extremely well trained! The wine list is excellent, service was impeccable, and the food was delicious! Fantastic experience.
A wonderful experience and delicious meal. Impressive and attentive service. Highly recommend.
Food, service, and ambiance were absolutely perfect!!
Lobster risotto is wonderful. But otherwise it’s good not great. I
After being seated promptly indoors it seemed to take a long time for a waiter to bring menus. Everything took a long time. After ordering the food took nearly 30 minutes to come. The meal was ok but not outstanding.
Our experience was perfect from the greeting to seating to service. My cocktail was served beautifully with great accompaniments. Our server made superb recommendations. On the wine list,a requested item was out of stock and she made a perfect substitute.
The food was excellent. Best carbonara I’ve ever had. Our server and the service assistants were friendly, smiling and unobtrusive.
It was an unexpected but the team made this visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Great food, great wine, great service - as usual.
Especially love the mushroom soup and the sea bass.
Wife did not like salad special and shrimp pasta meal. My Caesar salad was good, Veal Milanese was okay, and vegetables were great. Ambience is very nice. I thought it was a little expensive for the quality of meal.
Outstanding food and service. Wine list a bit too pricey
Sat at the bar. Good bartender and attentive service. Outstanding drink and wine menu. Wonderful lobster risotto and cannoli. Burrata was ok. I like this restaurant very much and will go again. Highly recommend especially when looking for alternatives from red/green chiles in santa fe
