Sasabune Beverly hills
Original owner Chef Nobi Kusuhara opened Sasabune in West Los Angeles in 1993 and opened Beverly Hills location in 2013.
- Waitstaff wear masks
We had a reservation for the sushi bar- when we arrived we were told we’d have to sit outside and that there were no tables available inside. We convinced the hostess to seat us at a table (not at sushi bar) that we could see being cleared. Once seated we waited 20 min and never had a wait-person, didn’t even get a drink order taken. We left without ever being served. During our wait we heard multiple other people approach staff about various service failings.
Good food…fresh fish but I do like to sit at the bar and that was not allowed unless we ordered Omakase which I didn’t want to do. Sitting at sushi bar is pretty important to me so I’m pretty sure I won’t be going back.
As always Sasabune was great in every level!
Best sushi ever had in my life!
Everything was absolutely amazing. Omakase is the only way to go!!!
Always fresh and delicious.
There is better sushi available at more reasonable prices in many locations in LA
I love an omakase and LA is a great place to get excellent sushi. Sasabune was excellent. Oishii!
Delicious, high level sushi in spite of modest setting.
This place was amazing. The best sushi.
Fantastic Chef. One of the very best for omakase in Los Angeles- Top 5. Must try!
Sasabune has survived a lot over the past two years, change in chefs, management, menu, and a pandemic. However they have retained quality over quantity and they are still the best sushi in the mid-city area.
Incredible fish. Truly spectacular quality and flavors. An absolute joy to eat here.
Solid, affordable omakase option.
Wonderful sushi, appetizers and omakase. Great service.
See you next week.
Great service, we ordered Omakase (
Expensive but average food and average service and average environment
We had a lovely meal with family from out-of-town. The omakase was delectable.
Fantastic omekase sushi. Sad Nobi has passed away, but it hasn’t skipped a beat as far as fish quality and presentation.
Food: Faultless Service: Need to train the staff: as usual, the two omakase menus were delivered with all the flavor and freshness we've come to expect, but unfortunately the service was not (that's why lost 1 star). The worst part was feeling the rush as each of two servers would hover over us while we're eating, grab an empty plate before the chopsticks met our mouths, and stood waiting for the other slower diners to do the same thing. Even when asked to take the pressure off of us and let us eat in peace, they'd walk away and return in seconds as if no one said anything to them.
Amazing high quality sushi that melts in your mouth. Great service.
Been coming for years. Things have changed. I’m very sad right now.
Amazing food, friendly and attentive service.
I demanded a visit to Sasabune on my trip down from the Bay Area. The restaurant has moved since last time, but the Beverly Hills outpost was as wonderful as I recalled. All hail the blue crab hand roll!
Japanese Omakase is the way to go. Sure, it's $135 per person, but it's 10 courses with 2-4 pieces each course. It's worth it. Only misses for me were the sweet shrimp and the abalone, but everything else was divine. The tuna and toro were amazing, the baked mussel was a refreshing warm/cooked plate to break the monotony of raw plates. Uni was large and the salmon roe portion was generous. The monkfish liver would be my last meal and the eel is the best you'll have outside of Japan. My only advice: do not be picky. Trust the chef. After my meal, I felt such a deep sense of respect to the person who prepared my omakase. The food here is art just as much as it is sustenance.
Great sushi, not the most opulent experience though.
Cold fish. Subpar service
The food here was fantastic. The Albacore Sashimi is a must try, as is the crispy rice spicy tuna. I also recommend the Salmon Sashimi. All the food we had here was incredible, and definitely a must try if you love Sushi, Handrolls, and Sashimi.
One of the most outstanding sushi dining experiences! The quality and preparation of the fish is one of the the best in the city. It is expensive but so worth it! Very safe and comfortable to dine outside. Cannot wait to come back!
Impeccable service and delicious, generous cuts of fresh fish, as always.
we set outside due to covid, it is a pretty gloomy strip mall setting outdoors. I hope that eating indoors will improve the experience. Nevertheless they are trying to do the right thing under the circumstances.
Excellent quality sushi!
The Toro was icy crunchy. Just a level to basic detail that seemed missing in numerous items. I don’t know if it is pandemic related as it is my first time here but it just felt quite sad.
The freshest sushi in town, I never hesitate to drive 25 minutes to indulge it.
More heaters please
Outstanding food and overall excellent deputed traffic roaring by on Olympic Blvd. Will back next week
