At Sarto, we believe that poring over the details is always worth it; and that the joys of a meal go far beyond the food itself. In keeping with Italy’s authentic, old-world traditions, we’ve approached our menu in much the same way an Italian chef opening a restaurant here in America might ── with dishes composed of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, that honor our region in a modern way.

Prepared from an open concept kitchen, our menu features modern Italian fare made with the freshest local ingredients Rhode Island has to offer, complimented by award – winning wines and a carefully curated cocktail program.

Sarto is located just moments from local performing arts and convention centers in the historic Teste brownstone building. Originally built in 1860, our restaurant was once home to an apothecary, a money-to-loan business and later the Philip Wolfe Haberdasher, which inspired the name Sarto or tailor in Italian.

“Jazz It Up” with dinner, drinks and live music at the Sarto, as local trios perform hot Jazz from 8-11pm weekly on Saturdays. Out with a group? Perfect! Plan ahead and make online reservations for table service for you and your friends, so everyone has a seat during Jazz it up with Sarto! Heading to a show downtown? Be sure to stop by Sarto after the show and enjoy music, dessert or bar snacks and a late-night libation. As a proud supporter of local student musicians, Sarto will be booking college jazz groups to perform in the monthly calendar rotation. Are you a college student in a jazz group? Our server was great, but the service of drinks and food was incredibly slow, and this was the primary reason I deducted two stars. The restaurant was at 50% capacity, so I'm not sure why everything was so delayed. Our server was wonderfully apologetic, and the manager gave us a free appetizer and took 10% of the bill total. The food was delicious, so hopefully they iron out the timing problems they had last night. I will return on a slow night to see if things have improved.

They ran out of two things we ordered, the appetizer we ordered came an hour after we ordered and we barely made our show at the Providence performing arts center… Will not be going back!

Excellent from beginning to end! Jazz band was amazing! The smoked mushroom dish was delicious and I’m still thinking how moist and tart/sweet the limoncello dessert was…

Wonderful atmosphere and dining experience. The server was pleasant and attentive. Nice live music during brunch. Food was great and l would recommend the place to all looking for more than just a meal.

The entire experience was delightful start to finish. We went here for our four year anniversary on whim when our first choice wasn’t available. Now this is our first choice. The waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to make it a special night. The food was some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant. The burrata, broccolini starter, gnocchi, and tenderloin were all delicious, well prepared, and balanced dishes. The brown butter cake with pistachio gelato and cappuccino were a perfect end to the dinner. We also enjoyed the open kitchen and being able to watch a great team at work.
