Sarto is a regional Italian, neighborhood-driven restaurant located in the heart of downtown Providence that offers a creative and modern take on rustic Italian fare.
Celebrating the history and bounty of the Ocean State, Sarto explores regional Italian cuisine as part of the fabric of Rhode Island – its farmers, purveyors, and artisans.
Omg I had the best time it was delicious 😋 😍 💕 the ambience was elegant and the staff.
Excellent food and service
Everything was perfect. They were on top of the COVID requirements and the food was amazing. Cocktails too.
Our dinner at Sarto was amazing and the service from Noa was perfect. Great help picking a perfect wine. :)
Fantastic food and really knowledgeable staff. The wine pairings were a real treat.
Food was bland and overpriced. Portions were small. Menu was very limited. Food took way to long to prepare, and was overcooked.
I loved the ambience and the feeling of safety inside the restaurant. They did a great job of social distancing between tables and all staff wore masks. The cocktails and food are wonderful! We came for a birthday dinner and were not disappointed. Will definitely be back!
The food was delicious and the service was great. Can’t wait to return and try something else.
Food was very good, went for restaurant week but when we got there they said they weren’t participating. The menu was somewhat limited.
Mind. Blown. These ladies are in the kitchen killing it! It’s the first time we’ve ever seen a kitchen full of women. I learned they locally source as much as possible & the taste is proof for sure.
The quality & flavor of all the food is extraordinary. If you go, definitely try the cheese & salumi plate and the short rib osso bucco. Ask for a extra side of the grilled spring onions so you have more to go w/each bite of the polenta. Finish with the upside down pineapple dessert while sipping on a Lavender Espresso Martini or their espresso doppio. My better half felt their espresso was the best he’s had in the states, tasting very authentic to what you’dfind in Italy where he lived for 2.5 yrs at one time. Although I’ve read reviews from others commenting that they find Sarto’s menu to be limited, I’m thinking the reviewer doesn’t understand at all what goes into each of chef’s offerings, resulting in a massively creative and beautifully presented dish. This takes time and I thoroughly appreciate their dedication to providing a perfectly plated dish rather than throwing out good food in lot quantities. Keep doing what you’re doing!!
Had an amazing dinner. Food, service, atmosphere all outstanding. One of the meals I’ve had since being in France. Highly recommend the oysters and pickled veggie plate.
Nothing really Italian about this place. The solitary pasta dish (radiatori) is the kind you'd expect in a college dorm cooked up by kids experimenting. The scallops had a measly 3 pieces with an overly creamy fennel sauce that would have served as an appetizer at the most. The noise level from the street - roaring motorbikes and cars - is not their fault but the setting is quite unsatisfactory for outdoor dining
Great dinner. Excellent service. Our waitress was fantastic. Cute red tables outdoors. Staff following all COVID guidelines. The watermelon mohito was delicious and Tues-Thursday 4-7 buck a shuck oysters. My husband had cavatelli and I had shortrib with polenta. Both were delicious.
The service was excellent from the hostess to the server. The watermelon Mojito was quite enjoyable as was the wine selections that were offered. I highly recommend the pasta pesto with Buratta cheese it was excellent.
The outdoor dining is nicely spaced. The only downside is that Dorrance is quite loud with busses and motorcycles that overpower conversation. Service was good, although our waitress seemed inexperienced when it came to serving wine, but she was attentive and nice. The food was good. Not as good as a previous visit. My cacio e Pepe was a little heavy on the cheese. Overall it was just nice to get out and walk around Providence after.
Birthday dinner with the family. Service was exceptional. We sat outside. I had been reading about small portions but I didn’t think they were small at all. Who wants big plates of food!? We ordered starters and shared everything, really delicious. Some of us had the house made pastas - special ocassions=carbs :). The chicken dish is incredible and the carbonara fries are a must order!
We will definitely be back soon.
Obviously, eating outside changes the ambiance and noise level but overall we enjoyed our time at Sarto. The drinks and food were delcious but I didn't quite feel like I was getting what I paid for. I've dropped some serious dough on food before and usually, I feel satisfied when the bill comes, even if the portions are smaller. But the bill just didn't quite match what we ate. Declicous, somewhat overpriced, meal and drinks.
We are so disappointed to hear that you did not have a 5 star experience at Sarto! We strive for excellence and it seems we missed the mark somehow. We would love to speak with you so we could discuss how we could have improved your meal with us, We can be reached at 401-270-0790 or at the email listed on our website. Best, Rebecca Miller
Our waitress Mya was fantastic. She took care to keep her face covering on and in tact the entire time and was more than considerate about our requests.
The restaurant was quiet and the tables were far apart, as they should be. We ate indoors because of high humidity. Our server, Chloe, was professional, friendly and helpful with questions and wine/food choices.
Fun. Great server
Never disappoints!!! Everything on the menu is amazing, service is incredible, and I cannot recommend enough!
Everything was very enjoyable.
I was a little disappointed in the flights as the picture you show online makes them look much larger than they actually are.
Food was excellent, sat outdoors
Our server was wonderful. We were celebrating & it was our first time out to a restaurant. We felt very safe, everyone was pleasant & the experience was very relaxed. All other guests were well over 6ft away. The food & wine was also so great that it was well worth leaving the house for.
Our waitress Chloe was so sweet patient. She made wonderful recommendations. Gotta get the Carbonara fries and the charcuterie choices are out of this world. Fresh ingredients and the lavender lemonade cocktail refreshed on that warm day. Enjoy my time there and going back soon
We had a great time at Sarto on a Tuesday night. We had the dollar oysters and they were my husbands favorite! We also did the bites and flights wine tasting! So cute and fun! Nice way to try different wines and a bite of what you might like to order. We then decided on the white sauce pasta. Homemade pasta and the cheese sauce was amazing! Highly recommend! Next time we go we want to check out their lounge upstairs!
An absolutely pleasant outdoor dining experience in the age of COVID. Delicious, fresh flavors and attentive staff. Our server Chloe was kind, courteous, and very helpful (made an excellent wine recommendation as well). Will return!
We enjoyed the tasting menu. The service was very good -
personable, knowledgeable and fun. Dinner was great, Osso Bucco and Scallop Dish, along with appetizers.
It was an enjoyable evening downtown on a warm summer evening the outside seating was an added pleasure .
I tried the flights & bites. The chef refused to substitute one out of 3 bites even though we don’t eat pork. The waitress was kind enough to request x2 to finally get us a sub of pickled vegetables. The 3 wines offered very bad. I can understand offering cheap wine but bad tasting is another thing.
I would not recommend their special to anyone. The bites were literally 1 bite each. Also the regular entree was a very small serving.
We are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our Bites and Flights promotion! The special is designed to just be light "bites" paired with samples of the wine, and intended to be somewhat of an "amuse bouche" before enjoying items from the rest of our menu. However we will speak with the kitchen and ensure that they have non-meat alternatives moving forward! The wines we use for the special are normally $14-$15 per glass but we will certainly discuss your feedback with our sommelier
Birthday amazing service our waitress was perfect
Honestly the food is divine. The service is great, we've now had Paloma twice as our server and I can't say enough good things.
Sarto never disappoints. The food is great. There are lots of small plate options if nibbling and sharing is your thing. While some of the menu options are limited, what they do offer, they do extremely well. Cocktails are always beautifully presented also. The interior decor lends itself to an NYC trendy dining experience!
This was the first time I'd gone out in a while, it was amazing food!
Impressive kitchen staff, great service
We enjoyed the tasting menu with the paired wine. Every bite and sip was delicious! Thank you 😊
Outstanding experience from beginning to end. Cocktails were awesome, appetizers were delicious and our entrees were the best dishes we have had in a long time. This is a must restaurant to check out.
Overall, I would say fair-good. I enjoyed the portion size (on the smaller side but just enough to be filling). The staff was friendly & attentive. Our cocktails were so-so, a little disappointed there. Our bill for 2 for dinner( including cocktails and a dessert ) was right around $130– before tip.
Instantly changed my opinion on what amazing food is! My wife asked if this was heaven while savoring the gnocchi. My new favorite restaurant!
Everything we ordered had fresh, seasonal ingredients, was presented beautifully and tasted out of this world, from my lavendar-infused cocktail, inspired osso bucco to a creamy strawberry rhubarb dessert. The service was fantastic, friendly and helpful.
Good god it was an amazing meal. From the starters to the entrees, to the delightful desert. Will happily return time and time again for that food.
