Spigola (Mediterranean sea bass) was delicious. Friendly service in a quiet, attractive environment a plus.
Nice intimate and elegant settings, well prepared dishes. Excellent service.
Great food. Outstanding service. Lovely setting. Our favorite Sarasota restaurant
Our favorite restaurant in Sarasota! We love the food, service and ambiance. We have never been disappointed with our experience at Sardinia. Looking forward to our next visit!
A real hidden treasure!
Only went on OPEN TABLE reviews.
I have ate in over 25 Italian restaurants in this town.
This by far the very best!!!!
Not overpriced at all.
If you like REAL Italian food this is the REAL DEAL.
Wine list and prices outstanding!!
Service was the very best !
Fabulous restaurant in every way!!
Our waitress Arianna was so pleasant and helpful with explaining the menu and specials. She really completed a great meal. She helped us with a ravioli type entree that we split as an appetizer. From there I had a special, a baked seabass that was one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife’s chicken Milanese was special too. Highly this great restaurant. Prices were very reasonable also.
Food was excellent as was the wine and service
Will be back
Sardinia is the best Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Chef/owner Dino continues to enhance the dining experience in the restaurant and improve the kitchen he designed.
His home made pastas are a rare treat. The manner in which he prepares fish is extraordinary. On this past visit we enjoyed ahi grade tuna that was superb. Also the homemade tagliolini was excellent.
Sardinia also features homemade gelato. Fresh coconut was on the menu Saturday night.
Nothing else like this in the area! By far, the best in Sarasota. If anyone doesn’t like this place, it is simply because they don’t get it.
This time I tried the “Paella di Fregola”, which is not made the traditional Spanish Paella way, hence the name...
This particular recipe consists of fresh hand made Fregola, seafood, and Chef Dino’s bottarga. The flavor is unique, so delicious and fresh. Outstanding!
Can’t wait to go back.
This restaurant is awesome.
The chef is amazing.
I love coming here.
The appetizer with clams and mussels is worth the trip all by itself, but don’t miss the superb pork chop.
Attentive and efficient service, yet unobtrusive. Food is consistently fresh and well prepared. Bistro style restaurant close to Siesta Key and Landings Shopping Center.
Seafood dish and ravioli special of day were both tasty! Minestrone soup is always so well prepared... just enough veggies and perfect broth for my taste. Great waitress and bus service....Very efficient! Hard to get in as it is small... but that adds to the charm. Make reservations.
Julia was awesome and the food was great. We chose a Sardinian wine that was superb...
We had great expectations for Sardinia and it just didn't meet ours. Our appetizer the roasted mushrooms on the pecorino cheese crisp and the entree of veal raviolis were the best of all. The brick oven pork chop was tough and dry and other than the mushrooms and asparagus there was no sauce . The paella with mixed seafood was like mush. They use a type of couscous instead of rice. However the seafood in it was good. For the price, I'd go somewhere else next time.
We were told it was the best Italian in Sarasota. We were not impressed. Even thought the food was very good we have other favorites we enjoy better.
Love the service and food. Great restaurant!!
One of the best in Sarasota
What a gem! Always enjoyable!
Food was excellent. Service was, likewise, excellent as well. Noise level was high though.
Great food with warm/friendly and efficient service. Julia makes dining experience as if you were with her in Sardinia, Italy. Thanks.
Authentic Sardinian food with exceptional service.
Great service, nice atmosphere, incredible wine selection and good food.
Food consistently good, served by a friendly, professional server in a quiet, comfortable setting.
Great experience. The service was outstanding and the food was exceptional. Lasagna may have been an unadventurous choice but it was by far the best I've ever had.
My request for a window table was met and though we were early, we were seated. The price fix meal was very good, especially the ravioli. The sausage entree had a flavorful taste but it was a bit tough. I think the presentation could be improved and a vegetable replacing the potatoes. I would have added a thin layer of tomato sauce to the dish for dipping. My husband’s Fruita deMara was very good and had a nice presentation. He enjoyed it very much. The wait staff was excellent. And the bread variety was very good ( our first batch of cracker bread was burnt but was replaced when asked .... surprised it was presented that way!). We both enjoyed our meals and can’t expect things to always be perfect. But, we feel it is good to be honest so the chef knows what might be changed for a better experience.
We've enjoyed meals at Sardinia and are always pleased with the food, the service, the atmosphere. This visit was the same until there were two tables of adults who don't know how to use their "inside voice".
The food was very authentic to Sardinia and the waiters both had great recommendations in different directions which made it interesting. The food and wine choices were great! The restaurant is cute and clean - which is awesome. We enjoyed our dinner and will be back!
We had a wonderful dinner, the food was excellent and interesting. The Orange ricotta ravioli had a really fresh flavor zip to it and the mushroom appetizer in a toasted Parmesan cup was worth going back for. We will for sure! The service was helpful friendly and efficient, not too pushy with just the right amount of interaction.
Food and service always good in a quiet setting.
As always our dining experience was superb. The food is fresh and masterfully prepared. The wines from Sardinia are marvelous. The hospitality of chef Dino and the entire team is always warm and appreciative.
Sardinia is a lovely, small Italian restaurant. The food was wonderful. They had a fabulous Savor Sarasota menu that will run through summer. The service was excellent. I highly recommend Sardinia.
My sister just moved to Sarasota from San Francisco. I am always cautious to recommend a restaurant to her since she has had the best of the Bay Area.
She loved Sardinia...the fresh food...the impeccable service...and the calming ambience. We had a memorable and most pleasant dining experience. The finishing touch was when Dino, the chef and owner, came to our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Can’t get better than that!
Varied menu so there are great choices for any taste.. veal chop was done to perfection . Would have liked a green veggies with the chop but there was plenty of potatoes.great octopus salad and boulaise
An amazing chef and staff
The food is outstanding and the finest presentation
Always enjoyable with a twist on Italian - nice breads and delicious linguine fruitta de mare.
My overall thought: Elevated Italian but, NOT stuffy or intimidating.
I heard and read so much about this place, I had to check it out.
As I walked up, I was greeted warmly. I immediately felt like I was someplace else, with a cool and unassuming vibe. The decor was authentic, refreshing, and impeccable. The light and the smells were seductive and inviting, so I take a seat at the bar, check out the menu, and can barely contain my excitement. I want one of each. The wine list is on pointe, as well.
Feeling adventurous, I asked the very gracious server to guide me.
I started with the Octopus. Fresh, delicate, and a welcoming delight- a perfect prelude to what is coming next. I promise you have never tried Octopus like this. You can tell Chef Dino Carta knows his stuff. The Octopus is tender, executed expertly, and topped with Bottarga- which is a delicacy the Chef is known for.
His freshly made pasta has quite the reputation but, tonight I wanted something else.
The Chilean Sea Bass caught my attention and it blew me away. Baked to perfection in an Italian brick oven, beautifully brown and crispy on the outside, while delicate and tender on the inside- it melts in my mouth.
The server suggested I pair it with the perfect Vermentino, and I am so happy I did. It truly was a perfect dinner and a very nice surprise. The food was extraordinary and perfect, the wine list interesting and extensive, and the service was exceptional. Loved everything about Sardinia!
P.S. Something that I have to mention about Chef Carta: He is known for selecting only the highest quality ingredients, and expertly preparing them to perfection. When you combine these two key factors, you don’t need to overwhelm food with heavy sauces. Thus, allowing food to blossom, it’s inherent flavors taking center stage.
It exceeded all my very high expectations. Bravo!
The food was outstanding especially the Octopus Carpaccio Salad. So tender ir melted in you mouth.
Four guests with excellent ratings, sure to return.
Thank you Chef!
Always great even on a Monday night. Savor Sarasota till September. Great deal. Must try.
Absolutely the best and most authentic Sardinian food you can get in Florida!
