We love Sardella. Food is delicious, always something new to try. Service is great; attentive without being obsequious, knowledgeable servers who always seem happy to help. A really great addition to the Clayton dining scene.
So nice to find “brunch” during the week. Brussel sprouts toast with poached eggs was uniquely delicious. Ricotta pancakes looked yummy too!
Food, drinks & ambiance were such a delight. The kitchen obviously values detail & presentation. Our party of 4 enjoyed every bite. However, the service Julia provided could've been a bit more courteous & hospitable. As we finished up we continued to sit & chat over drinks only to be advised by a seperate employee that she had actually left. We were celebrating a birthday and the snubby service kinda put a damper on the mood. Each has guest felt it.
We actually wound up dining next door at Pastaria, (same owner) because the Saturday brunch menu was fairly limited. The hostess was less than warm and welcoming, and upon arrival, after having made reservations, two days in advance, we found our table on the aisle, next to the breezy front door. We initially asked to move to a more quiet location, and that was not well received, in spite of the fact that there were two open tables ready to be cleared. Upon visiting the restrooms, Pastaria (the adjoining restaurant) was discovered, and we then requested our move to that dining room. Hostess was thoroughly exasperated with us, which was bewildering given that the tables needed to be cleared and reset with or without our occupation. Pizzas and Arugula/Endive salad were delicious!
Inventive menu with a very laid back and casual feel. Bar is excellent and wine list is varied and well priced. Shared plates are generous and very tasty. Highly recommended.
Loved everything about this restaurant! The food, the ambience and the service was impeccable! We will definitely be back!
I had very high hopes, since this is a terrific chef with a great reputation. And some of the food was great. The burrata was delicious and beautifully presented, but there was very little presence of the nuts that were supposed to be part of the dish; the garlic popover was excellent. The mussels were very tasty, but there was hardly any sauce, there were perhaps 5 tiny pieces of potato, and the sauce appeared to have been reheated in a microwave. The white wine spritzer was overly sweetened.
Overall, I was not as impressed as I wanted to be.
Wonderful in every way—bart tenders, wine list, fellow diners, FOOD!,service, and FOOD!
We enjoyed our meal at Sardella; service was great, presentation great and ambiance lovely. Sardella is a small restaurant with closely spaced tables, giving you a good view of your neighbors food and conversation. That's not really a bad thing, in my opinion, it's helps me choose my dinner. I had the Hake, and recommend it. My wife had the short ribs and thought it a little salty.
We were greeted with complementary glasses of some bubbly to celebrate our anniversary. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly; really helpful in assisting with my wine selection. Food was amazing. Definitely will be back.
Ordered the hamburger for lunch. By far the best tasting burger I have had. Will be back again soon.
Sardella has been on my list of places to try, and an out-of-town guest was the perfect excuse. We enjoyed our food and the bustling atmosphere.
Superior cinnamon rolls & donuts, tea list is fun....love the fresh citrus juice. Waffles and wings were difficult to eat. Raviolo was disappointing.
We had a great Sunday brunch with friends...and both the Brussels Sprouts Toast (with poached eggs) and the cinnamon roll were fabulous!
Octopus was amazing and Hake was perfectly cooked, saw a few diners having the burger-plan to return for that. Micah was great and brought me wines to sample when he discovered they were out of the beer I ordered.
The food was good, but with a few hiccups, related primarily to us expecting a dish described as savory to not have such a sweet undertone. Service was just okay, though I got the impression that they might have been a server down. Our server was often to be seen running from table to table, he just didn't make it to our's as often as expected, or when the timing would seem to warrant it.
wonderful dinner - have never had a bad meal; one of my favorite restaurants in the St. Louis area!
Casual or business or romantic dates, Sardella can be all as you desire!
Uncomplicated yet tasty, starting with the best dinner rolls ever, you will begin to melt into their very seductive Italian American taste.
I can go for hamburger or pasta. Depending on your mood, staff and chefs at Sardella will create good meal/ good overall experience for you!
Made our “date night” very special. Food, drinks and service all fantastic!
Parking not real convenient. Noise level in restaurant made it difficult to hear others at the table. Food good.
The Eggs Benedict were incredible! We have experience many different types (using crab, lobster, etc) but never inside a giant ravioli. Very impressed with the chef's creativity. Made for a wonderful birthday experience!
Went here with my boyfriend and my parents who came into St. Louis for the weekend. Perfect brunch spot, but definitely reservation necessary if you don't want to wait! Food was delicious - recommend the brussel sprout toast and the cinnamon rolls!! When they brought the check, they had given us little swedish fish candies - a play on the name Sardella (Sardine). The atmosphere was fantastic - lively, but not in a way where you couldn't hear your companions. Definitely coming back.
Great! Service was fantastic and the food was excellent!
Amazing food and service!
This was my first time at Sardella and I really enjoyed everything about the restaurant. It was a little pricey, but the food was great in taste and quality. I will definitely be returning!
Not happy about the new menu. Not enough normal options to eat. Wish there were more soup choices. Too esoteric.
Sardella is a great restaurant that we love . We did the special Valentines menu . Wine pairing was really good
We had called when Sardella sent an email message with the fixed valentine day menu to discuss food allergies in our party. We were assured they could make it work. When we walked in to get our table they mentioned that our server and the chef were ready for us. The meal was spectacular. The server did everything possible to help. It was a great evening.
I generally like Sardella, but we felt the Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu was disappointing. There were some very odd choices, and we were only happy with 2 of the 4 courses. The bright spots on the menu were the 2nd course (gnocchi) which was delicate & wonderful & the dessert (both choices were great). Unfortunately, the appetizer choices were less appetizing. The veggie tart was decent, but the crispy octopus was terrible. I barely touched it. The entree scallops smelled & tasted old & the bed of risotto(?) was bright orange—looked & tasted like pimento cheese. Just not good. The steak was nice, but a good part of the small cut was fat.
Overall, we learned our lesson & will not go back on a holiday when there is a prix fixe menu.
I took my wife out for Valentines dinner and was treated to a wonderful complexity of flavors with each of the four courses as well as the great choices available for the beverages .
Everything was perfect. Food, drinks, and service all amazing
Loved our dinner! Patrick Puize was delicious. Glad to introduce Sardella to my brother and his wife. Had a great time.
Wonderful ambiance. Food was mostly amazing. Oddly though the carbenara and the octopus were seriously over salted to the point were it wasn’t enjoyable. The cheese fondue and half chicken were seriously amazing. Regardless, still excited to try again.
A very nice, relaxing place with great service and great food. Dining there is an "experience." Excellent server too.
the menu is limited and some of the entrees were wierd
The tables were small and the seating was very cramped.
The service was excellent, matched by the food. Burrata, cauliflower, hake, burger, short ribs and superb wines. Cant wait to go back!
We love Sardella! The food is amazing, especially the ricotta gnocchi, Spanish octopus, and braised beef short ribs. The service is informed, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing (Jessica is the absolute best). The space itself is gorgeous, unrecognizable from the Niche days, sophisticated but casual, colorful but understated. Absolutely recommend!
This is the 6th time I have been to Sardella with my wife and we love it. We are a huge fan of Niche restaurants and this one offers something different from Taste, Pastaria and Braisserie. The burger and braised short rib are our favorites
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our server asked about dietary restrictions and marked up a menu indicating menu items that could meet those restrictions. We were dining for a birthday and were brought a couple complementary items to enhance our dining experience. Overall a great experience and wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion!
