I was excited to bring in a couple work friends to try out Sardella after the new chef took over. The place is beautiful and warm and welcoming as always, but there is a renewed energy there with Brian Moxey taking the Exec Chef role. Lots of great new menu items including a hamachi crude that was out of this world! Service at the bar from Nika was great and our server at the table was so on with his recommendations and his attention to our empty glasses! I love Sardella and my friends did too!
The best brunch I have ever had, hands down. Food was inventive but accessible, well executed. Had the cacio e pepe eggs, bread pudding french toast, roasted fruit salad, matcha latte with almond milk, and cup of sunshine latte (turmeric/golden milk.)
The roasted fruit salad was good, the fruits should have been larger and slightly less cooked and the greens needed a touch more evoo and salt (they were bitter and astringent, flat.)
Cacio e pepe eggs and bread pudding french toast were absolute perfection. I couldn't have conjured the concept or made them better myself which is often my benchmark for when eating out.
The drinks were interesting, matcha latte was solid, sunshine latte should have a little explanation as that is advance millenialism, and it was very strong but I thought well done. Coconut milk would be a welcome option to offer.
I haven't been in a while, and it was disappointing. My husband had the burger and while it was good, it wasn't exceptional. My favorite is the roast chicken. I had eggplant tortellini which were very flavorful but not very filling. OK, but won't rush back.
Delicious, with great options for vegetarians and meat eaters. We all left raving.
Ate at Sardella's for Brunch on a Sunday. We made reservations for a time about 45 minutes before Brunch was over. Many of the menu items were 'sold out'. The breakfast sandwiches we ordered were put on bread instead of english muffins because they were out of muffins. The menu wasn't extensive to begin with and it made our choices rather limited. It was all great, what we had, but just seems like the restaurant shouldn't run out of so many items before closing. We'll try it again, think maybe dinner would be the best option!
Extremely small overpriced portions
Left hungry and underwhelmed
Service at Sardella's was impeccable. Host and waiter were both very kind and helpful. The food was fantastic, and it is obvious their dishes value flavor and quality over quantity which is a nice change in pace. The only complaint I had was my food coming out lukewarm. This was an easy fix though, as the waiter had it warmed up. The ambience was very hip, like a new coffee shop turned nice restaurant. Overall, the experience was well worth the drive coming from Illinois, and their chocolate tart was an absolute life changer!
Sat at the bar and had a great evening! We had an issue with our bill and the bartender took care of it ASAP.
Sardella is one of my very favorite places to dine--especially as it is the perfect walk from home! Love that there is always something new (and delicious) to try. My friends are food lovers who live in Phoenix, travel extensively and love to eat. They raved about our dinner, the wonderful server and the cocktails. Will always choose Sardella for a great dinner out.
The food and service were excellent. Will definitely go again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Sardella's. The atmosphere was great and we truly appreciated that, although the restaurant was full, we could easily have a conversation across the table. The food was original and the flavor was fantastic. This was a uniquely pleasing dining experience.
It seemed to be one waitress for the e tire restaurant. Service was with a smile, but very slow to get food, drinks and table cleared. I thought maybe they were understaffed, but the waitress apologized for nothing even though everything to forever to get. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Limited menus. Wine is expensive!
This was my first visit and definitely not my last .
The food was magnificent, all the flavor, texture and colors.
I will be returning soon. Would love to have brunch there.
This was our first time dining for brunch. The heirloom tomato egg toast was kinda the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I want to eat it every day and it should be a menu staple. My friend got the ricotta pancakes, which were also to die for. My husband got a Bloody Mary—sooo good.
From the moment we came in until we finished dessert, everything was perfect! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food and the atmosphere is so comfortable and inviting. So great!
An absolute top notch restaurant experience from beginning to end. Everything I ordered was perfect. Clayton is lucky to have Sardella. It is neighborhood gem! The food was phenomenal, the wine first rate and service top-notch.
Food is so imaginative and delicious. Comfortable seating and noise level manageable. Wine on the expensive side but we’ll chosen for the food. Staff knowledgeable and helpful.
Very loud. My wife and I could not hear each other, making conversation very difficult. The food is good, but it is not exceptionally so, and it is certainly not worth the price...not even close. Service was adequate, but not to the level I expect from a high end restaurant. In short, disappointing. Especially given how much we love the sister restaurants Brasserie, Taste, and Pastaria and how amazing Niche was.
My family & I came here for my birthday and the service was awesome. They greeted us with prosecco as soon as we were at our table and the rest of the dinner, the waiter and everyone else that helped out our table was attentive and so nice. You really can’t go wrong with what you order- everything’s so good! We ordered the cheese plate & the prosciutto plate for apps, then the Braised Beef Short Rib and Black Sea Bass were our mains. If you’re wanting chocolate, the chocolate tart was the best I’ve ever had. They also brought out a birthday ice cream! Couldn’t recommend this place enough- will be back for sure.
Excellent, contemporary Italian. The best in St Louis.
Needed a restaurant close to the Ritz, we are (historically) fanatic foodies, and Sardella was recommended by a local friend. Energetic "city" ambience, a la New York or San Francisco, with very creative menu options. My wife and I wanted fish, son-in-law is a red meat guy, one of us cannot have gluten, a different one cannot have fructose. We were all very pleased with the menu choices, and the execution and service of said choices. We opted for 2 bottles of Chinon French red wine, was very pleased with this, as it paired well with everything - light and acidic enough for fish, solid enough for meat. I had the sardine toast, and loved it. Had what I wanted. The construction of the dishes, and the flavoring components were creative and very complimentary. We were road-weary at the time, but this place made it all worthwhile. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Sardella is the best! I love the new menu and have tried almost everything! The food is delicious and consistently good. The dinner rolls are to die for. The drinks are great. We love Sardella for brunch and dinner! Highly recommend.
Excellent meal and service, We went with friends who had not been to Sardella, and they loved it
Loved our experience at Sardellas. Great service and the food was so yummy. We ate every last bite!
Great braised beef dish. The mussels were a taste sensation
My friends and I like to support locally owned restaurants. We try to get together monthly. Sardella hit the mark. The service was great. The food was outstanding in presentation, quality and taste. Would definitely recommend Sardella. The only down side is that it's in a small space and it can be a little tight to naviagate around tables.
We have a few appetizers, salad and entrees and everything was fabulous. We are looking forward to going back soon.
Fantastic. Food and service are top notch. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent and creative flavour and texture combinations. Very tasty meal. The waiter was very good
I was visiting the area for an event and went there with my husband. I had soup and salad. He had the curry mussels. My food was unremarkable and his mussels had passed their freshness date. It was an okay experience. The service was very good
This is my 5th trip to Sardellas and arguably the worst. Although the venue was attractive it was very loud making it hard to hear colleagues speak. Worse, the service was slow, it seemed as if there were only two wait people handling many tables. Food was overly salted and overly prepared. The sea bass was overcooked and dry. The mussels were sandy. The heirloom tomatoes were tasteless and covered by a giant piece of bread. Then too the prices seemed to have gone up significantly especially since my last visit in June.
I really wanted to love Sardella, but the food was lacking. Nothing really was a stand out. We were overall disappointed with the food. The restaurant is very cute and the drinks were good
Excellent, we have been here twice. Exceeded our expectations both times!
Sat outside which was great because pretty noisy inside. Everything great! Have been several times and always liked.
Lovely way to celebrate birthday. Brunch was delicious. Kiddos loved pancakes and French toast. My power salad is a lunch time Fav. For brunch I added poached eggs —- amazing!
Noise level was too loud; overall good experience
My date and I were shocked at how bad the food was since it was so highly reviewed. The surrounding tables were also unhappy with their food. The pastas were bland, and the mussels were actually completely inedible.
The waiter was excellent and we really enjoyed him, as Clayton residents we like to walk to restaurants but we were disappointed in the menu, and we are foodies and have been here, too many bizarre food combos, no fish, no green salad, won’t return
Our server didn’t return to our table after dropping off food. I had a bottomless cup of coffee that was never refilled and we had to track her down to get our check. Very Disappointing.
Great food and great service. Love this place!
