Saratoga Race Course - Club Terrace Ratings and Reviews
We sit in the Club Terrace in order to get a table at the race course. It is the same reason why we sit in The Porch. The Club Terrace is less hectic than the Porch and there is more room between tables. On this day, we had the cheese plate, hamburger, and a chicken chilli and the food was good. Request Dora M. as your server becuase she is the best.
Our server Colleen was the best we have had at the Club Terrace! Finally a really positive experience. She was quick, friendly, and checked back with us ALL DAY and not just until 2:00 like most Club Terrace servers. I hope to have her going forward. She didn't just pay attention to "regulars" - which are people that go every day. We have been every weekend and she was far and above the best. The hostesses have also gotten their act together and we were seated promptly and they even accommodated our request for a better table, after giving us sub par tables the entire season.
Nice spot to hang out during the races and have some room to spread out all your stuff that you bring to the track. tables are a bit tight and it certainly isn't cheap so you have to have that in mind before you get there. there aren't really any better choices if you want to have table service at the track
Second visit in 2017. We visit the club terrace every year. It was Whitney day. We are usually seated as a two top on the perimeter overlooking the backyard and paddock. This time and first time we were seated in the interior. Not the best, but we didn't complain knowing that it doesn't get you anywhere. Then we observed two men "strong arm" the hostess into a better table, and surprisingly they were accommodated. Why is the hostess inconsistent with seating requests? $$$? Our waitress Charisma was excellent until the middle of the day, not to be found anywhere. This is a pattern with this venue, I see the other wait staff working their stations, but the folks around us were also wondering where she went wanting to order. Uggh. We have 2 more reservations this year, crossing my fingers they get it together, or we get lucky with a good table and service.
First time at Saratoga for the races, thought it would be a good idea to eat at the Club Terrace before the races. Save your money and eat at the various vendors that are located in the park. Lunch was overpriced, menu had avocado dip all over it, and a 10 minute wait for sugar when there was hardly anyone there. Great seats though, but I wouldn't eat here again.
We were doing a day at the track for a friends birthday and wanted seating in the club house. It was a great choice, the club terrace was quiet, comfortable and we had great service and food. The only down side is you are sitting on the second floor of the club house overlooking the paddocks and picnic table area. We would have liked to have been looking out at the track to watch the horses run. Great choice if you want to go to the track and not be in the middle of the crowds and noise, have a seat with service and be able to chat. If you want to be where the action is and sit and watch the races, you won't want to be at the Club terrace.
We have been to the Club Terrace many times over the years. The service is unpredictable. For whatever reason the time at the hostess stand to figure out what table you are assigned to is ridiculous. It takes 4 people 15 minutes to seat a party of 2 - literally - and that happens every time we are there. And we were there at 11:30 when they opened and 2nd in line.
Donna our server was clueless and not capable of taking an order accurately - beer order wrong, soup - wrong, had to tell her several times the simplest of orders. She never came back to check on us. Her manager brought the food and we never saw Donna again until it was time to pay and if you know anything about Saratoga - we were there for 7 hours. Next visit will be requesting a different server. The food is way over priced for the average fare - nothing special. If this were a regular restaurant and not part of the Saratoga race track, we would never return.
The table had not been cleaned -- there was sticky goo/whatever stains on it. We asked for it to be cleaned and when the host/waiter brought the plastic-coated menus ... there was ketchup streaks on them that got on our sleeves, arms and racing programs. We did not stay and left to find a better place. We love Saratoga ... but this place -- the Club Terrace -- was awful.
Have an annual outing with friends at the club terrace. The food is usually pretty good. This year it tasted awful. The romaine salad did not have the ingredients listed on the menu and the turkey blt was toasted so hard I could hardly bite ito it. Please bring the old menu. The new one is sub standard and not worth the money.
Terrible experience - We had reservations for 3 but the table they sat us at was for 2 - They insisted they could not change tables since they were all reserved - The table wobbled so much they had to put napkins to somewhat stabilize the table - Again they would not move us since they said all tables were reserved. Meanwhile other patrons paid to sit a their tables upon arriving indicating all they were not all reserved. The food was mediocre and way overpriced. We had to remind our waiter more than once for our food and drink orders. Overall it sucked and we will not be back and the terrace club. Better off in the grand stand for food and seating and service.
Typical tourist trap place. Food is atrocious, service is the worst you will find. Waiters cover probably 15 tables and make zero effort to make you have a nice experience. Nobody clears tables, you have to get up to find a staff member to order something. Total total let down and that's after you pay $8 to be in the clubhouse and $10 to sit in the club terrace. Food is abysmal and prices are absurd. That to me would be fine if the service was reasonable. Not even close.
We booked months ago yet got a bad table with no view to TVs. Also arrived early and asked to be reseated was told ok at 1:30 but when the time came unable to move us to empty tables. However the waitstaff was able to give their favorites what ever table they wanted. Very bad experience. Sorry we prepaid for 4 separate days!
the server we had Sommer was excellent. Can't say enough good things about her. I go to opening day to the track every year. This was our 45th year. Of course they messed up my reservation as I had a reservation for 4 and it ended up being a table for two. Sommer made our stay a fun experience. For opening day next year I want table 28 and Sommer again. I'll also ask for her every time I go up this year. Please advise when I can put in my request for next year. Oh the food was a real winner this year.
OPENING DAY OF SARATOGA RACE TRACK I WAS SO HAPPY TO HAVE A TABLE THAT CHANGED VERY FAST. WHEN THEY BROUGHT ME TO THE TABLE AND IT WAS TOTALY SLANTED SLOPING TO THE GROUND. I LOOKED AT THE HOSTESS AND SAID YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING SHE WENT TO SEE WHAT SHE COULD DO ABOUT IT. THE HOSTESS CAME BACK AND SAID I AM SORRY ALL THE TABLES ARE TAKEN AND IT'S OPENING DAY AND THERE IS NOTHING SHE CAN DO ABOUT IT. THE WAITRESS CAME OVER AND STARTED TO PUT CLOTH NAPKINS UNDER THE TABLE LEGS TO BALANCE IT AFTER THE FOURTH TRY IT WAS BALANCED ENOUGH TO PUT A GLASS ON IT. DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE FOOD THINGS HAVE CHANGE I HAVE HAD A TABLE FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS AND IT WASN'T THIS BAD. I PAID FOR A TABLE THE NEXT DAY AND DIDN'T SHOW UP I ALSO PAID FOR A TABLE FOR NEXT WEEKEND DON'T KNOW IF I WILL USE IT . ITS NOT WORTH SPENDING ANOTHER $25.00 ON THE FOOD. THE ONLY POSITIVE THING YOU HAVE A TABLE (SLANTED) FOR THE WHOLE DAY . IN THE PAST I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT A 4 STAR ALWAYS HAPPY AND TREATED LIKE A SPECIAL COSTUMER . OPENING DAY WAS NOT THE CASE! THEY ONLY BEEN OPEN FOR 153 YEARS AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!
I've been attending Opening Day races at Saratoga for more than 3 decades and most of that time have been buying service in the club house. I was rewarded for my loyalty by being placed at a table in front of the kitchen. Hot ovens blowing heat our way, no view of the track or the paddock.
The reservation process this year had us boxed out of the Turf Terrace. Not sure if I will spend the money next year. That's not how loyal customers should be treated.
It was a very hot day and we asked for a pitcher of water 3 times within 40 minutes. The tables in the next waitress's section were being served water. The waiters in our section were running to bring mixed drinks to nearby tables. I finally went up to the kitchen area and asked for one myself, which I then brought back to the table. We had 2 servers who were too busy helping out the "regulars" who were slipping them frequent tips. I usually tip 20% at the end - no service, no tip. We ordered 2 entrees, 1 dessert, and 1 alcoholic beverage. We were charged for a second beverage and on of the waiters was in disbelief that we didn't have the second one. I assured him that we didn't and he finally removed it from the bill.
The last weekend at the track is always very slow and issues with less servers due to leaving early to work or school. Easiest time to get a table, but service is spotty, but if you insist, there are people around to serve you. Very pleasurable to those able to be in a large area with decent, but not doting service because you are the only one around. Regulars tip extremely well, be prepared to not be overly thanked for your 15-20%.
