Fantastic upscale food. Will visit every time I'm in Savannah.
Every time that I've visited Savannah for the past 15 years, Sapphire Grill has been a "must do" on my list of places to eat. This time was no exception, but I will say it was the first time I came away feeling that I'm not sure I'd want to go back. The server acted like he didn't really want to be there at all and our food, although beautifully presented, was VERY under-seasoned. It was as though they ran out of salt in the kitchen and thought no one would notice if the food was pretty. I'm 3 days out and I'm still disappointed that 2 of us spent $150 on dinner and we both were horribly disappointed. I'm just hoping it was an "off night" in the kitchen and not a sign of the how the restaurant is going to be from here out.
Incredible food and excellent service! We highly recommend!
Great food and drink, friendly service, a memorable evening. On the downside, pretty pricey, and some small gaps in server attentiveness. But I'd go back again for a special event.
First time visit and great food, and all our dishes were as described.
The evening was lovely. The maitre'd was attentive. It was a birthday dinner and the chef sent a VERY pretty and tasty dessert out. The salmon was quite different. The asparagus was a little tough. The beverages were VERY alcoholic. The bartender did an excellent job. I had a Mule and an Irish coffee.
Always order the calimari...best we've ever had. Scallops were also perfectly cooked and delicious!
Our first visit as we were recommended to try it. The service was excellent but I felt the food was not exceptional as I had expected. I had the crab cakes with soup to start with and the soup was only lukewarm, I had the fish served over a bed of vegetables for main course and again the veg was not hot enough but the flavours were quite good. My wife enjoyed both her courses. The wine list was excellent.
The ambience was perfect, the noise level was low, I couldn't have asked for better service. This is one of Savannah's great restaurants.
The food was superb. The service impeccable. And, David, as ever, was the consummate host.
We had a wonderful meal here while visiting Savannah. Our host & waiter were fantastic. Great steak, pork chop & grouper. Good wine list too!
Our third visit & we always are WOWED! The Pate Foie Gras is the best in the world!
The Thai pork was outstanding with the perfect combination of flavor. The scallop Appetizer with caviar was Awesome. Also perfect wine pairings. Order the chef's table if you can. Wonderful food & wine !
Workers hung out by the door and smoked which wafted in to the restaurant. Steaks were undercooked. Sides were cold. Overall not impressed.
This quirky little restaurant had it all - great ambiance, outstanding service, and delicious food. The calamari with pesto was outstanding - truly the best we've ever tasted. Dinner was pork cheeks and the chicken breast stuffed with brie - both done to perfection. The best part of the meal - dessert! The creme caramel was to die for and the honey lavender cream - well, my husband said it best - you could just take a bath in that stuff! It was a wonderful dinner - highly recommend the Sapphire Grill.
My Wife & I enjoyed our dinner at Sapphire. Our server Marshall was personable & attentive. My Bouillabaisse was very good although a couple shrimp were over cooked. That's why I didn't give 5 stars for the food. We would return the next time we're visiting Savannah.
I requested a quiet table and we were seated in the same lovely corner booth we had last time we were here. Staff was fabulous and food was fantastic! Great place for date night or a small celebration.
Very disappointed. Foie grass was excellent but entres not so good. I had pork cheek and tasted my wife's duck breast. Pork was tender but nothing special. Duck tasted more like cooked wood. Great wine list but even the wine could not compensate for the poor food. Will likely not go back and definitely do not recommend.
The is the best restuarant I have ever dined at, the food was excellent.
Food and service were outstanding. We are serious food snobs with a hard to please pallet. Whenever we can get a chance to away we love to eat at higher end resteraunts. We try different places in the Savannah/Hilton Head area all the time and either add them to our repeat dinning list or scratch them. We will definitely be dinning with Saphire Grill again. Great overall experience.
Had not been for some time. It was quite good. Menu variety, preparation and presentation excellent, served very hot. Service quality attentive but not lingering; very good. We'll return.
We enjoyed having our dinner in the wine room in the basement. It was quiet and intimate and the service was good.
Good food, delightful server, good wine selection, pleasant setting
The restaurant is quiet, good wine and drinks menu and a very good choice of entrees. The hostess was friendly and the waitress had a friendly personality. We had fresh fish and clams in a very light saffron scented broth. Excellent. The deserts are to die for.
Calamari Great! Rest of the food was poor and the service left a lot to be desired. We sat at the bar for 5 min before the bar tender acknowledged us and when he did he wasn't very friendly.
Were quick to replace overcooked duck. Excellent service.
We have dined at SG many times. There has always been a lively bar crowd but this visit was unfortunate for the noise level. The food and service continue to be outstanding
A bit overpriced.
Ruined 2 white russians.
$22.00 for some chicken strips on my ceasar salad. WOW
My dates shrimp was super she said.
The food was fabulous. Great menu to select from and the cocktail menu was top notch. I loved the cozy environment. Good location for date night or a quiet business meal. The appetizers are so big they could be a meal – I would order no more than one per two people. Same thing with the main course – you will not leave hungry, so be careful if you want dessert.
Been here a few times over the past two years. Extraordinary, food superb! Going back tomorrow for last night in town
Sapphire Grill never disappoints!!! The food was fantastic as always and the service excellent.
Went here as an afterthought when another reservation fell through, and was happy we did. Ordered simply...steak with braised oxtail and a salad, both shared with a fellow diner. PleaSe of food very well prepared. Extremely hospitable staff, and everyone, including my vegetarian, was plesed with their meals. I can't eat wheat, but it was fun watching them eat the berry cobbler!
One of our best meals of 2016. Skillful prep and presentation even after 19 years; that's why we keep coming back to this gem in the heart of historic area!
Food was fabulous! Craft cocktails perfect for the season and holiday. Waitstaff knowledgeable. Benne crusted black grouper was perfect. Dessert was so good we had to make room to finish. No way could we leave any on our plate.
Wonderful New Year's Eve Dinner with family and friends
Fantastic. Delicious meal and great service!
Great meal but service was subpar. Server was new but appeared not to have waited tables before at least not in a fine dining establishment
We were visiting our son serving in the Army in Savannah over the Christmas weekend. Our group consisted of some Army buddies and family. Our waiter was exceptional. His recommendations, service and delivery knocked everyone over.
The meal was creative, well prepared and the portions were appropriate for fine dining. Last, but not least, save room for dessert. The chef did not overlook this menu section.
Just a wonderful meal from beginning to end. Friendly staff and warm ambiance. Will absolutely return next time we're in Savannah!!
Reserved a table for 8pm on a Saturday night. We arrived a little early to hit the bar and met Gordon who made some wonderful cocktails. The manager and hostess were fine with seating us early and even offered a pleasant surprise. There is a private dining area located in the wine cellar below the main floor. The room was large enough to seat @ 4-6 people, but was very romantic.
The food was absolutely wonderful and was exactly the way our server had described. We will be dining here again in the future and highly recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone dining in Savannah.
Monday night, restaurant was quite empty. Good for us. The food was great, the service was impeccable. I forgot the manager's name but i thank him for his kind reception. I started with one of their signature coctails, excellent by the way. The wine list is a bit too short and limited, although we did have good wine. One of the best restaurants in Savannah.
