We had a great dining experience. The food was great and it was a fun atmosphere. I do have two complaints though. I arrived a couple minutes early for my reservation at 5:00. A woman outside told me she could help me with my reservation. She said I'd have to wait on a stool outside for my friends to be there. It was very hot out. I have medical issues and told her I just need to sit down and cool down - that I felt faint. She brusquely told me she would have to ask. She disappeared and came back and said I could come in but was quick to inform me that I only had an hour and a half - basically that started from the minute I sat down at the table - even though my friends weren't there, so I chose the bar. She had no charm or warmth or concern. Then the other thing is that it was way too hot in the restaurant. It would have been an incredible experience if the service people were not so quick to remind you that you only had an hour and a half (we were told that twice) and had a little warmth. The waiter was good though and otherwise the service was helpful.

Either the restaurant had no air conditioning or very inadequate air conditioning. We walked in at 6:30 and it was so hot that sweat was dripping from my forehead. I could not enjoy anything I was eating. It was so hot and noisy, I just wanted to leave.

Sappe is an absolute gem in NYC. The vibe is authentic, energetic, and lively making it the perfect place to escape a hot and humid summer night. All the dishes were phenomenal: especially the Laab Pla Todd (fried branzino), which was hands down one of the best I've ever had (packed with flavor and the perfect amount of spicy). The service was lovely and attentive thanks to Helen. If you're looking for a truly authentic Thai experience in a charming setting than Sappe is your answer. Cannot wait to return !
