One could not go here without knowing it was a Paleo/Keto kitchen, but I fully underestimated how vegetables would dominate the plating. When we order Duck ana Liver as my wife and I did, we expect the protein to be featured as opposed to being buried under a pile of assorted vegetables. To us that was a turn off. We had started with Escargot and Oysters Rockefeller and while the Escargot were excellent the Oysters should never have left the kitchen. When my complaint of them being smothered in spinach and I mean smothered, reached the owner/chef's ears she fully agreed with me and apologized for the error of a new employee. She offered to prepare another order but as I had already eaten the fine oysters after removing most of the Spinach, I declined. Nevertheless she insisted I try at least one, which I did and it was a vast improvement. Our protein in our main course were excellent and in fact the liver was outstanding. We ate about 1/4 of the assorted veggies and had no complaints. We would return to this restaurant, especially for the liver but would request the assorted veggies served on their own plate and I would caution any friends I recommended this restaurant to . I should also mention they did not charge us for the oysters.
Chef Aurore never fails to deliver. The flavors of every dish she creates are exquisite. The use of so many fantastic vegetables and her sauces are all top notch. My family could not have had a better Mothers day meal. I would give her restaurant 3 Michelin stars if I could. Thank you again for another phenomenal meal.
Enjoyed the Mother’s Day menu provided. I had the celery soup, Chilean bass that were amazing. Did not know about byob so it was a shame we didn’t pair a good wine with our meal. Would definitely try this place again.
Mothers Day lunch
Good tasted as if it had been pre-made days ago and warmed up. There are so many delicious and better options for Gluten Free food in Scottsdale. We won’t be returning
Our daughter has many food allergies and loves it that she can even have bread and dessert at your restaurant.
Terrible experience this time starting with the service.
Food was delicious. The escargot was wonderful. We had Calves liver and the Chilean sea bass entrees. So many wonderful flavors and so healthy. We also had the apple crumb for a shared dessert. Since the food is cooked per order, bring some great wine and relax. Well worth the time to cook the meal.
Our meal was fabulous! Each course was exquisitely prepared and the presentation was gorgeous. The flavors and textures were thoughtfully combined to elevate the particular food's qualities. Highly recommend.
Great food! The owner is very friendly and always interacting. Great value for hi quality food.
Intimate setting, great healthy food. We will return.
Sapiens is delicious and always has wonderful options on my very restricted diet. They make the food to order from fresh, real foods so it takes a while to get your order, but it’s always well worth the wait. And the atmosphere is nice with light French music. We love it and eat there every time we are in Scottsdale.
The food was wonderful!! My son has grain allergies so it was such a treat to dine in a restaurant where he could have anything on the menu!!
The only reason I did not give a complete 5 star review is because the waiter forgot to put in our order. It was well over an hour before we ate out main course. Other than that the food was amazing! We will definitely try it again.
Excellent service, tasty food, and a unique experience. They clearly are dedicated to their craft and while initially skeptical, it was an amazing meal and we look forward to returning.
The food was delicious and the server was very pleasant. However we arrived at 5:45 and didn’t receive our food until 6:50. It is a French restaurant but there were no appetizers or courses to justify the extremely long wait. In the meantime there was only one other sat table but multiple pickup/take-out orders coming through. It was very unclear still why with only one meal containing a medium rare piece of meat (the rest vegan meals) our meal took this long to arrive.
We just keep coming back; always a delight, in every aspect. We were there for Valentine's day, and it was perfect.
Outstanding food, every single time. Everything I've tried on the menu is amazing! I particularly enjoy the escargot, the sea bass, the ribeye (when it's available on special) and the chocolates for dessert. It's small, family-owned and operated and the chef is a true believer in high-quality food. The place is delightful.
My wife and I enjoy this little treasure tucked away in North Scottsdale. The food, freshly and deliciously prepared, is made with fine and healthy ingredients. They’ve added order to go, which we have yet to try.
The best paleo kitchen I’ve ever been too! The food is incredible and it is so enjoyable to not have to think what is in the food that you can’t eat! ❤️❤️
Excellent food and service
Sapiens Paleo is one our favorite restaurants in the valley, we live on the most southern end of Gilbert a s happily make the trip up any chance we can.
It was almost perfect! The only thing I can say that wasn’t perfect was that it was very busy. So ok not a bad thing at all. The food was excellent and the service and presentation was on point. Having Celiac and being able to peruse the whole menu was a dream. Also, not having to worry about gluten contamination was so relieving as the whole restaurant and kitchen is gluten free. We will be back to try the rest of the menu and I definitely recommend this place to everyone, especially those with celiac and other special diets.
Thank you Sapiens!
As always, great food and great service. The chef's personal touch with customers says a lot about their commitment to customer service.
You don't have to have dietary restrictions to enjoy the delicious food here. But, what a treat it is to get foods you thought weren't possible unless you cooked them at home! Definitely a fan and will be back!
The meatloaf was made pre COVID.Food was cold.
Best insult award! So, if the pre-Covid meatloaf ruined your evening, why not mention to the server that you are dissatisfied with food at the time of your visit? We are striving to be perfect, but, although rarely, we may misfire. Despite the name, we are not cavemen here. We'd be happy to replace the item or offer a refund, whatever it takes. The only thing I can say, Mr Michael Bukowski - I wish you customers just like you, so you may learn to be more humble, reasonable and understanding.
Always a pleasure to dine here! I love everything about this restaurant. It is my "go to" for catering needs as well. If I lived closer I'd eat there more regularly and would utilize their meal prep service. Sadly, I'm outside of their delivery range.
Great food and service as usual!
Food was outstanding as always. A nice atmosphere to have a conversation.
Excellent food! Great conversation with the owner!
The owner is very knowledgeable and ready to discuss the unique menu and ingredients. It was truly enjoyable.
Great Paleo menu. Good commitment to quality and health. Intimate setting. We really enjoy the French Paleo food and the individual attention that we get from the staff.
Gluten-free which was good for my daughter but the deserts were lacking and so many sauces - set meal maybe the real menu is better
Our first time here and we will be back soon! What a beautiful blend of vegetables with my lamb chop and my husband's liver & onion was superb. We were told it was grass fed beef from AZ. The sauce was so unique and tasty.
Desserts were worth the trip from south Chandler alone!
Smelled great and tasted good for Paleo but I have to say, French food without butter is quite a challenge to compare to the original. Bring your own wine is nice and the service was very good. Well versed waiter.
Sapiens is a gem and well worth the extra
few minutes to get there from anywhere in
Phoenix metro. Anyone who eats Paleo, keto,
vegan or just loves great food will enjoy
Sapiens and most likely vow to return. :)
I love this restaurant and come often! Chef Aurore has figured out how to make French food healthy without sacrificing taste! So grateful for her fabulous food.
We were there on Thanksgiving; the experience was great, as always. We both had the NY Steak; the appetizer (spiced squash soup...amazing; all the veggies that accompanied...amazing; the steak, I'd give a 9 out of 10. The cut could have been a touch better; but the flavors, seasoning, etc. outstanding...as usual.
The food was delicious and prepared to perfection
