We love this food . My husband worked in Japan. The food is typical. Very high ingredients. Gets pricey but so worth it
The food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is nice. The waitresses are very kind and attentive. My only complaint is that the staff (waitress/hostess/chefs) all kind of casually chatted loudly across the room the whole time. I couldn't really focus on my conversation without hearing them chatting about the election. It's okay to enjoy your work, but perhaps a little quieter or another time. Twice something we ordered was forgotten and I can't help but think it's because of the distraction.
I've had better sushi, larger rolls for less money. The place was very Clean and quent. The waitress was nice and prompt and folks behind the bar were very friendly. It's just the food was so so.
Wonderful little place for excellent sushi/sashimi
Service was great and the fish was exceptional.
Extensive sake and wine list
The small plates were a delight as well.
A great Sushi restaurant...always our list of one of best restaurants in Edmonds.
The food was incredible and the service was excellent!!
So great to have amazing Sushi in Edmonds. It’s critical to support local businesses during these hard times
authentic Japanese nigiri, clean and safety interior
Service was ok, sushi rolls were small, and it was freezing inside. Bring your heavy jackets.
Everything was prepped and made well. The sashimi fish was fresh and buttery. High attention to detail.
Our meal was incredible! The sushi was so fresh and the rolls were amazing! I will definitely be back
Excellent quality and service. The place is clean and protected from COVID.
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious!
Really good Sushi and small plates! Cozy and reasonably priced.
Outstanding selection of Sushi and other Japanese fare. I am fairly new to Sushi, so I alway usually need a bit of guidance, and our server was excellent in her suggestions. Can’t wait to go again
It was an all around delicious eating experience. Service was top shelf, and presentation was gorgeous!
The only thing I didn’t love was the strange music.
The sushi is high quality, but we've had more inventive preparations of Omakase at other sushi places. They've done a great job of separating tables with fabric curtains, which makes for a very cozy dining experience.
Sushi was excellent. Maybe the best I've ever had. Our server was a bit snarky, and the intensity about COVID made it difficult to relax. Overly formal feeling, despite fantastic safety protocols.
My husband's cousin recommended this restaurant but we couldn't get a table last week but we were able to today.
It's a small neighborhood type sushi place but with a nice deco and modern feel.
Service was great and the server, Rachael, was knowledgeable about the menu which was a plus as a lot of other restaurant servers do not care to learn their menu. They were very busy with takeout orders.
Futomaki roll: This is something I get whenever I go to a Japanese restaurant. Surprisingly not all of them have this. I was worried about the eel being one of the ingredients but the rolls actually tasted good without the weird eel texture.
-Gindara Kasuzuke (roasted Kasu marinated black cod): It melted in my mouth. I liked the pickles that accompanied the fish
-Tempura Udon: shrimp and veggie tempura were very light and crispy. Udon noodles were cooked al dente. The broth was not too salty.
-Spider roll, Negitoro roll, Edmonds roll: My son liked all three of them.
-Sashimi assortment: My hubby said everything was fresh and tasty
-Geoduck nigiri: My hubby said it wasn't as fresh as the others.
Hoji cha: Tea was tasty as it had roasted rice aroma.
Cheese cake: very light and tasty
I'm glad we tried this place. Although it's not in my neighborhood this is definitely a sushi place we'd come back for.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in all of the greater Seattle area. The service is fast and the people are very pleasant. I travel 30 minutes from my home just to eat here. A few of my favorites are the geoduck appetizer and chefs choice nigiri. The atmosphere is awesome, and they keep it safe and clean during covid. This is a frequent stop for me, and I would recommend this place to anyone.
Food was amazing!
Great COViD protocol. Felt safe dining there. The food was delicious. Very authentic sushi. Being originally from Hawaii, this was a great! Nice to be able to get quality sushi here in Edmonds.
New outdoor seating was lovely! The hornets were an issue though.
Outstanding Japanese restaurant. Super quality, great service, and a really pleasant ambiance.
For the last 30 years I have been eating chef’s Nakano sushi and never once I was disappointed. The freshness, the attention to details, the rice!
It’s still the best Japanese experience I have ever had!
New location is amazing!
Three of us had Aguedashi tofu, potato salad, edamame, Octopus sunomono, 14 pieces sushi@2, 11 pieces sushi, and 10 individual sushi. Everything was so delicious! As a Japanese, I confirmed that Sankai serves authentic Japanese food!! It is a bit far from Seattle, but We will definitely go back there again!!
We enjoyed returning to Sankai. It was great to have a outdoor dining option.
We always enjoy the food. The chef is amazing.
Love it. We are so glad they were able to return to business.
Everything was excellent. The food was very fresh and tasty.
What a great place to eat, amazing food and the freshest sashimi.
Every bite was excellent and beautifully presented. An everyday meal is elevated to a memorable experience and a special occasion meal is truly a celebration.
The overall experience was amazing. We made reservations and had a table right up front. We were served right away and the food came quickly.
Everything was delicious. Nigiri, sashimi, sushi, gindara...just everything.
So so delicious. Fun to try random sushi dishes if you haven't had them before. Definitely smaller dishes so when you order a bunch it does add up. Restaurant required masks at the table which was a little different than other restaurants in the area. Definitely recommend. Sat outside on a warm summer day and it was great!
SUPERB food quality and friendly and non-intrusive hospitality services. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for a great Japanese dining experience.
With the safety measures in place, we had a lovely dining experience. Food and service is always on par outside of a pandemic. Our dining experience was not comprised with the added safety measures in place to protect both the staff and patrons. We are so happy to have this restaurant added to the Edmonds community!
Such amazing food and they have adapted to the COVID-19 requirements seamlessly. Will definitely be back!
Food was amazing and they took the mask/sanitation process very seriously.
Safe environment. Courteous staff and the food was good.
I typically order to go but this day I decided to dine in since they reopened dining. I RSVP thru open table and was left a courteous and professional vm to call back if I wanted outdoor seating. I called back and confirmed out door seating would work.
When I showed up and stated I had rsvp that’s when it got a little awkward since the hostess asked if I wanted instead indoor seating by the window. I replied I had just confirmed minutes earlier about patio seating. She then asked if I would be able to finish within 45 min since there would be another party. I didn’t feel like rushing thru eating so I opted to just dine indoor. I wish that experience wasn’t like that.
The food itself was good but the whole experience leading up to that point was awkward.
I don’t know if I will ever dine in there again but I will still definitely order to go.
Amazing sushi from chef Ryuchi Nakano
And great service from crew
Always very attentive!
Our only go to place for Sushi.
Great service, Dahlia was amazing.
And the fish was fresh, delicious and was a wide variety.
