I loved it in here - it had a great atmosphere with a love Spanish band playing. The food was ok but we ordered the theatre menu and I think we should have had the tapas as they looked amazing. The sangria was really tasty (probably too tasty!). Defo recommended as we wanted somewhere local to our hotel that wasn’t a chain.
This place is amazing. Food and drinks are delicious. Great for birthdays
Went for a very early dinner, so it was quiet.
Large menu to choose from.
Food was good, but not outstanding.
I would return as there were many options.
Lovely place to share a pitcher of sangria and some tapas! Great wait staff!
Always great food!!!
Four of us had dinner at Sangria 46 on Valentine’s Day. The food and service were great. We had the grilled octopus which was tasty and tender and the portobello mushroom which was the weakest dish in the dinner. Three of us shared the Paella Valencia which was excellent and more than enough. It was stuffed with seafood, chicken and chorizo. The other person had a sole dish with lemon which she loved. Of course the sangria was delicious as well. Try Sangria 46- you’ll be glad you did!
My friend and I had resi’s on V-Day for 7pm. I get it, it’s a holiday so it was understandable that we didn’t actually get seated until 7:20. The hostess was really cute and sweet about it so THAT was no big deal. What WAS a big deal, was that once we were seated, we waited almost ten minutes for water and menus and then another five minutes for the waitress to come take our drink orders. The waitress disappears for several minutes and then returns to take our food order. We ordered a few tapas and one main dish to share. We still haven’t received our drinks, yet the food started coming out. Are you kidding me? I ordered a freakin’ sangria (your darn namesake) and my friend ordered a glass of wine and we’ve been waiting for close to 15 min with no drinks in sight? I flagged down our waitress and amazingly the busgirl was just then coming up behind her.
Once we had our food, no one checked to see how we were doing....not once! The next time anyone approached us was when the busboys came to clear the plates. I was a waitress many years ago so have a low tolerance for poor service. It’s a small restaurant and while it was busy, we saw many waitresses so they certainly weren’t short staffed.
Anyway, food was good....not great, but good. As my Mom used to say, “it was nothing to write home about”. We will not be returning to this establishment as there are too many other great restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen to give this place a second try.
Great tapas. Close to theatres, so fun to go to for dinner and a show.
This was my husband and I's second time at Sangria 46.....It has now become one of our favorite restaurants! .....The service and the food was amazing!....Mango Sangria was to die for!
The food and service is always great!
Great, casual place for meeting friends. Food was very good, service was great. Good value. Told our server we weren’t in a rush. He brought out our food at a leisurely pace which was exactly what we wanted. Fun vibe. Been here several times. Highly recommend.
I have not have such a pleasant Spanish meal since I retired from the Iron-bound section of Newark a decade ago. The Paella de Mariscos and Valenciana were among the best I have had. I don't know what they did to the rice, but it was perfection. The ladies had the lamb shank and stuffed eggplant. Everything was excellent: overly filling, especially with the Empanadas appetizers. The latter, however, were good but nothing special.
The excellent service should be noted. It was raining and we arrived 30 minutes before our reservations. The servers were very accommodating and pleasant, and we never felt rushed. We expect to return for our next pre-theater meal.
excellent food..... Great service..... Good wine..... Will go back again...
Went for dinner on a Wednesday after a matinee and had the price fix. I had the stuffed mushroom appetizer and skirt steak main dish. My friend had the mussels Diablo and chicken tamarind. Both meals were generous portions and outstanding, we could not finish and had to take half of the dinners home.
However we did leave room for the dessert. Would definitely recommend the price fix, great value for what we received. Loved all the different choices of Sangria, had the white wine strawberry and peach Sangria, it was outstanding. Service was also timely and great.
Warm, friendly accommodating staff.
All dishes made with fresh ingredients, seasoned well and nicely presented.
Their fixed price menu is a good value.
Mussels in tomato sauce and filet of sole with roasted potatoes and vegetables two of our favorites. Fresh Apple pie for dessert very good.
Of course their Sangria is the best.
The tapas were very tasty; although the portions were smaller than expected for the price.
The sangria was delicious!
The food was wonderful. At a place called "Sangria 46" you hope the Sangria is good, and it was great! Had four tapas dishes, all very good, and a WONDERFUL Tres Leches Cake for dessert. Mexican coffee is now my wife's favorite.
Tables too close together
We went to Sangria 46 pre-theater. Service was great and very friendly. The room was very loud, food adequately prepared.
Very good food and service. Lots of fun too.
Sangria 46 was the perfect little spot for a pre-show dinner. We order the octopus appetizer and the mussels diablo. Both were delectable. The Paella Valenciana was very good as well. We shared the dishes and there was plenty. This is not an upscale restaurant but the food was very good.
Mauricio the bartender was also our waiter and he was outstanding. The Sexy Sangria was out of this world and my hubby had the standard red sangria which was also very good. The paella and tortilla espanola was very very good but not outstanding - we are spoiled - no one makes paella like our grandma.
We went to Sangria 46 before seeing a matinee. The outside was unimpressive but the inside was homey, althought the doors to their ourdoor area opened by itslef. The food was quite good but a little salty. My mother loved the potato and collard green soup (the only soup they had that day) and I especially enjoyed the yuca croquetta with cheese. The price was reasonable for the area. For me the highlight was the white sangria. It had the perfect balance of wine and fruit.
The food was authentic and fresh, great bartender and service!
Sangria was fabulous! Most of the food delicious- only problem the zucchini sticks must have been fried in the same oil as fish. That was not good but everything else was wonderful!!!
Sangria without a happy hour and no como sangria for dinner
Food was ok, nothing special, seems like a tourist restaurant in good location for the play houses. Service was friendly, a bit slow, and it does get crowded and noisy as it is a small space.
Our go-to pre- or post-theatre spot! The food is excellent, the tapas menu offers a wide variety of choices (along with tapas/entree specials). The wine list, sangria and drinks are great. And the service is impeccable-the wait staff is friendly, efficient and literally cannot do enough for you. The noise level went from quiet (with the sparse post-matinee crowd) to moderate, as the place began to fill up with Saturday night pre-theatre folk. Maybe it's because there are so many other restaurants in the area, some with bigger 'names;' maybe it's because the outer decor is very modest (to put it nicely), but it all adds up to this being our 'hidden gem' in the Theatre District. So keep it under your hat, so it doesn't get too crowded, complacent or expensive.
The food was good with the exception of one dish, the skirt steak, which seemed to have no seasoning on it at all and so was very bland. The tapas we ordered all were good. The ambiance/decor weren’t anything special but it was a good spot for pre-theater.
On Friday, January 10th, I took 5 friends and family members to Sangria 46 for an early dinner before seeing Hamilton – this was my first time here and it will most certainly not be my last. I chose this restaurant based on other reviewers and seeing that their menu selections would satisfy my group of 6 that included both carnivores and vegans (ranging in ages from 24 to 76). From the minute we walked in, we were greeted with genuine hospitality from each and every staff member – most of all from our server who gave us some of the best service I have ever experienced. She was upbeat, personable and best of all knew the menu inside and out as to offer many recommendations that were a perfect match for our group of 6.
Rather than choosing individual appetizers and entrees, we all decided to do a family-style dinner and just share everything – between the six of us we ordered 12 tapas and 2 entrees. Honestly, every single dish was dead on. Our tapas included Setas Rellenas, Chipirones, Mejillones Diablo, Pulpo a la Parrilla, Esparragos a la Plancha, Tortilla Española, Croquetas de Yuca w/ Spinach, Berenjena al Horno, Empanadas de Vegetales, Empanadas Argentinas, Chuletillas de Cordero, and a shrimp w/ coconut tapa (that I cannot remember the actual name of). We all had our favorites but for me the grilled octopus (Pulpo a la Parrilla) and the stuffed mushrooms w/ crab (Setas Rellenas) were my winners.
For the entrees we ordered two paellas – one with clams, mussels, shrimp, & calamari and one with clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, chicken, and chorizo. The paellas were huge – so much so that we could not even finish one let alone two. Hands down, the best paella I have ever had.
If you’re looking for a plush restaurant with suited servers serving generic entrees then this place is not for you. But if you’re looking for an ethnic restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, personable servers, and a killer Spanish menu then give this place a shot.
The food was superb, the service excellent. Wasn't a long wait for the meal, inexpensive as well. Really enjoyed being there, will definitely come again.
Always great food!
We went to Sangria 46 for a pre show dinner. It was a party of 8. Service was great. food was great. Sangria was the best.
Sangria 46 never disappoints! This was my 5th time here. It’s my favorite go-to in the city. I noted on the reservation that we were celebrating my friend’s 40th birthday and on our way out the bartender greeted us with a tray of delicious shots. Perfect end to a perfect dinner!!
Service was outstanding. I was tired from traveling and walking around and the minute I got there it felt like home. Not only the food was great but the ambience was like entering a familiar place from childhood.
Great food! Great drinks! Great music! Great service!
The hosted, Judith, with the mostest! Food was great! Ambiance was wonderful!
Absolutely an AMAZING place. First off, they have a wide variety of authentic food that someone could choose from.
The staff was fantastic and very friendly!!!!
I’m definitely going to be going back.
Food was solid and fresh. Nothing was really excellent, nor was anything bad. Sangria was very tasty. Service was attentive. Restaurant was quite cramped, but you expect this on restaurant row.
Quaint little place, but boy is their food amazing! Fish was a large portion, sangrias were awesome :-)
