Sangria 46 Ratings and Reviews
We were seated in a back corner which probably made the noise level a bit more bearable. First waitress we had must have been new because when we put in our drink order another came back to ask specific questions about our orders. We had a couple of appetizers which were good. We shared two different paella meals with the extra lobster. I’d skip the lobster in the future but the paellas were excellent. I’ve been here several times and will continue to go there. Sangrias are wonderful and food is consistently good.
I didn’t love the vibe, the food, the decor or the service. It was serviceable as a convenient meet up spot, but I would not recommend it to anyone. Our server took forever to bring my friend a simple glass of water. He brought the wine for two other guests before attending to the request of my friend, who asked for water in order to help her stop coughing. I was not impressed.
This was a pre-theater meal so we got there a little early. The service was fast and friendly. They never rushed us although the restaurant was packed. We both had chicken dishes which were excellent. The fish looked great but we were having a sushi party the next night so we didn't want to order that. We will definitely come back to enjoy the fish dishes. The table next to us had grilled octopus and shrimp and they said it was great.
Came here before theater and had a fabulous tapas dinner served by Valentino who was a wonderful and friendly waiter. Their wine list and menu featured very affordable items and we had a wonderful collection of 6 different tapas and a bottle of wine which we enjoyed very much. We did not try the sangria because it was 16 degrees outside and we need a nice warm, spicy red to warm us up and they had plenty for us to choose from.
We have dined many times at Sangria 46. We usually order the same group of delicious dishes however on this evening we tried a new entree. So go and enjoy, and experiment with new dishes and be wowed like we were with the pork chops. Excellent grilling and tender meat with onions, vegetables and potato. We ate it along side the mussels Diablo which was an excellent combination. The grilled octopus is heaven on earth too.
Overall, the dining experience was below average. Service was average, food was below average. The mussels on the tapas/appetizers list was very good, the shrimp ajillo was also well cooked but had too much garlic for my taste (even though it was a garlic sauce). The beef empanadas and arroz con pollo were terrible. Empanadas were soggy .. rice was undercooked and uneven. Both were bland. Sangria was also average. Will not be returning and there are much better restaurants to go to in that area.
Loved everything we had! Great value for the price and serving sizes for the tapas were larger than expected. The only bad thing I could say is that it was a tad warm in the restaurant. I would absolutely dine here in the future. We got there about half an hour before our reservation on a Saturday night and they were able to seat us right away anyway!
I Always judge a restaurant if I ask my self would I come back. I would definitely come back. When we(wife) first arrived the place looked a little sketchy. But after walking in you could tell this place was hip and cool. The food was absolutely amazing. Appetizers were so delicious. Grilled octopus with chick peas. For dinner we got paella and churrasco steak. The paella is a meal for two people by itself. Presentation was beautiful and the aroma made me more hungrier when they arrived with the food. Everything was cooked to perfection. Last but not even close to being least, the sangria. They have a great selection of sangrías. We ordered the strawberry - peach sangria. Tasted like summer. This place is definitely a good spot.
A vibrant, and obviously popular restaurant. Close to the theater district, although the clientele looked more like locals and it didn't give the feel of a tourist "trap".
Great choice of tapas and sangrias of every size and flavor.
The tables are very close, which may be the only drawback.
Would go back.
Made a reservation, got there a bit early but still got sat right away. Service was great and the food was amazing. We also split a pitcher of sparkling sangria that was also delicious. Even though the place was small and a bit tight fitting and the noise could be up there, i still completely recommend this place to anyone who loves good food and sangria
I selected Sangria 46 for pre-theater dinner. This is a cozy space, with fairly low ceilings -- it was packed and very lively / noisy initially. After a birthday group departed the neighboring table, it was pleasantly vibrant. Service was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. We had tapas as starters - the gambas al ajillo were excellent, bacon-wrapped figs very good. We shared a paella valenciana as our main -- very good but somehow seemed like the rice had not fully absorbed the flavors initially. We had the cheese platter instead of dessert -- the presentation was outstanding and the cheeses ranged from excellent to fairly good. We had a very nice bottle of rioja reserva to drink. I thought the bill represented very good value for money for the location. We were delighted with the experience overall and highly recommend this vibrant and friendly Spanish restaurant as a fun and delicious part of a night out.
Another super wonderful meal at Sangria 46! Always a warm friendly greeting at the door, you are made to feel like best friends right away. The food is consistently fantastic, fresh, colorful and well prepared and presented. The absolute best paella ever. Moist rice and perfectly cooked seafood, never dry soothes the soul with every bite. We love the staff and owners who all work in concert with one another every day to enhance your dining experience. The empowerment of excellence in the dining room and kitchen is magnificent.
The food was amazing. But don't make the same mistake I let my husband talk me into! Either go tapas or a meal not both. Ended up bringing home the entire dinner. We had a fabulous time together. The wait staff was extremely attentive without being aggressive. They were really great. We really enjoyed ourselves. And did I mention the food was amazing?
Love Sangria 46! Second or third time here. First time with children and they were completely accommodating. Spanish Tapas are perfect for small tastes for us adults and for child size meals. The staff were welcoming on New Year’s Eve and the atmosphere here is neat and authentic feeling to places we have been in Spain. Shrimp was a bit bland, but fresh. Filet was less than anticipated. Otherwise everything - meatballs, squid, salad, empanadas - was delicicious and beautifully presented.
Our family of five ordered a variety of tapas and every bite was delicious, leaving us wanting to try more. They have a great menu to choose off of - we will definitely return when in NYC to try out more items. The grilled octopus and eggplant were our favorites. Staff was efficient and friendly and we did not wait long after our order was placed.
I brought a friend who was visiting me here and regret it! I picked this based on the reviews on OpenTable, but we clearly had a very different experience. One of my worst experiences in NYC.
The table next to us (over 10 women) were clearly drunk and screaming at the top of their voices. They kept bumping into us everytime they had to walk past. The restaurant is small and cramped with tables very close, the staff kept bumping into our seats as well. Despite asking for another table (there were a few empty ones in the restaurant), we were not moved.
The patatas bravas came with a sauce which can only be described as mayonnaise. The chicken empanada had a bone in there. The food was mediocre at best, and the only redeeming feature was the sangria, which was good.
