Sangria 46 Ratings and Reviews
I selected Sangria 46 for pre-theater dinner. This is a cozy space, with fairly low ceilings -- it was packed and very lively / noisy initially. After a birthday group departed the neighboring table, it was pleasantly vibrant. Service was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. We had tapas as starters - the gambas al ajillo were excellent, bacon-wrapped figs very good. We shared a paella valenciana as our main -- very good but somehow seemed like the rice had not fully absorbed the flavors initially. We had the cheese platter instead of dessert -- the presentation was outstanding and the cheeses ranged from excellent to fairly good. We had a very nice bottle of rioja reserva to drink. I thought the bill represented very good value for money for the location. We were delighted with the experience overall and highly recommend this vibrant and friendly Spanish restaurant as a fun and delicious part of a night out.
Another super wonderful meal at Sangria 46! Always a warm friendly greeting at the door, you are made to feel like best friends right away. The food is consistently fantastic, fresh, colorful and well prepared and presented. The absolute best paella ever. Moist rice and perfectly cooked seafood, never dry soothes the soul with every bite. We love the staff and owners who all work in concert with one another every day to enhance your dining experience. The empowerment of excellence in the dining room and kitchen is magnificent.
The food was amazing. But don't make the same mistake I let my husband talk me into! Either go tapas or a meal not both. Ended up bringing home the entire dinner. We had a fabulous time together. The wait staff was extremely attentive without being aggressive. They were really great. We really enjoyed ourselves. And did I mention the food was amazing?
Love Sangria 46! Second or third time here. First time with children and they were completely accommodating. Spanish Tapas are perfect for small tastes for us adults and for child size meals. The staff were welcoming on New Year’s Eve and the atmosphere here is neat and authentic feeling to places we have been in Spain. Shrimp was a bit bland, but fresh. Filet was less than anticipated. Otherwise everything - meatballs, squid, salad, empanadas - was delicicious and beautifully presented.
Our family of five ordered a variety of tapas and every bite was delicious, leaving us wanting to try more. They have a great menu to choose off of - we will definitely return when in NYC to try out more items. The grilled octopus and eggplant were our favorites. Staff was efficient and friendly and we did not wait long after our order was placed.
I brought a friend who was visiting me here and regret it! I picked this based on the reviews on OpenTable, but we clearly had a very different experience. One of my worst experiences in NYC.
The table next to us (over 10 women) were clearly drunk and screaming at the top of their voices. They kept bumping into us everytime they had to walk past. The restaurant is small and cramped with tables very close, the staff kept bumping into our seats as well. Despite asking for another table (there were a few empty ones in the restaurant), we were not moved.
The patatas bravas came with a sauce which can only be described as mayonnaise. The chicken empanada had a bone in there. The food was mediocre at best, and the only redeeming feature was the sangria, which was good.
Our go to for casual pre-theater dining. Food is good, prices are reasonable and it's only a few blocks from most Broadway theaters. Delicious sangria and a wide selection of tapas. It is mall and loud, but we don't mind the lively atmosphere. Great shrimp in garlic sauce.
Have been here twice, a few years apart and food has been pretty consistent. They have great sangria and a tasty saffron rice w/ chicken and chorizo that is baked like palella in a cast iron pan. Apps are tapas style, so smaller portions but the entrees are pretty generous and also tasty. We finished off our meal with tres leches which was also very good. Staff has always been friendly. Nothing fancy, but It's a hidden gem in NYC for authentic Spanish food.
We loved Sangria 46! They were able to accommodate our party of 8 comfortably. Service was wonderful and the wait staff very friendly. The original sangria was delicious as well as the food! The price fixe menu (or you could order a la carte) was a bargain and included a glass of sangria. We will definitely be dining here again!
