Sangiovese at Ironworks
Holiday get-together - very enjoyable. Everyone liked their meals.
Clara at the bar was great. Friendly and helpful with suggestions.
I love the bread. My pomodoro was a little salty and my husband’s veal was a little tough. Otherwise, everything was great.
Good selection of entrees and fabulous tiramisu.
The food was good but the portions were soooo small. Even my kids 10 year olds were still hungry after eating the adult portion. So you definitely have to order salads & appetizers.
Service and food was excellent.
My wife’s B-day
We had an incredible first time experience at Sangiovese. The service was exceptional (I believe our server was Shonda) and the food was out of this world good. It was only made better by the intimate / quiet atmosphere, where we were able to enjoy our bottle of wine and our conversation.
Thank you Sangiovese.... we will definitely be back!
Met some good friends for a nice Sunday dinner. Service was excellent, food was excellent, drinks were top notch. One of my favorite restaurants because of the staff, atmosphere, and food. Always an easy place to dine and have a conversation - noice level is perfect. Lots of restaurants around the area but this one is in the top 5% of choices- can’t go wrong.
We had a great experience at this restaurant! The service was excellent and the food was not very creamy and saucy, it was delicious. Our compliments to the Chef! Overall, I recommend it to all foodies who like exceptional service and a great ambiance.
Great meal and great service. Food was fantastic.
Great restaurant! Service was quick and friendly. Food was amazing. Highly recommend!
Always a pleasure dining here-packed house on a Tuesday, so you know it’s good! Love the bread and dipping oil, the insalata mists and the risotto was perfect!
Great birthday dinner. Red snapper special was excellent. Perfect evening.
We have been patrons of this restaurant through several moves. It has remained one of our favorite spots and it was especially outstanding this last time. We brought two of our friends and they were blown away by the place, having never been here before. They frequent Mass Ave locations and found Sangiovese to to be superior in food, value and service. Our waitress was amazing. There when we needed her and leaving us time to chat and relax. So glad they follow a tradition from Italy of you are there for the evening as patrons rather than pushing through as many as possible. Delightful experience.
The food was very good, a bit slow on service, but that was fine-enjoyed our company and cocktails while we waited. Our server was not very friendly, very "matter-of-factly" as she took our orders-just didn't feel the warmth! Then added a 20% gratuity to our bill - really don't like being told what to tip. She was definitely not worth $42 for the 90 mins we were there!!!
We love Sangiovese so much. It's always great! The staff is always so nice too.
Excellent service, server was well versed in the menu and willing to make tweaks if required. Outstanding well prepared food. Pasta, fish and pork were ordered. All exceeded expectations. Interesting wine list, A little intimidating if not familiar with Italian wines. Pricey, $386.00 inclusive for four, no dessert. Will definitely return.
Note: Parking on a Friday night was a major hassle. Driver, drop your riders and plan on a hefty walk.
Very nice place! Went in a date night with another couple we had great service and great food. Would highly recommend this place!
The veal was outstanding!
Great food, and really good service. It is a bit noisy, but not a huge deal.
The food quality is second to none. With a “home cooked” quality, the dining experience is outstanding. Our waiter Zach was enthusiastic, entertaining & knowledgeable.
I’d recommend Sangiovese at Ironworks for dinner with friends, family or business associates. It fits all occasions.
Food was not hot
Always enjoy dining at Sangiovese when we’re in Indianapolis. It’s a quaint, intimate little restaurant with delicious Italian food. The Fettuccini Bolognese and Tortellini Alla Effie were delicious.
Terrific! Loved it. Food and service outstanding. Will definitely be back again.
I was told that this is a nicer/ higher end place to come and that business casual is the dress code, so this is why I choose this place. I wanted something different to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. BUT that was not the case at all. There were people there with sweatpants and hoodies. Kids, loud at the table behind us. Making this not the night that I had in mind or pictured at all. I would have left but I missed my back up reservations that I had made at Ruth Chris Steak house. I was also told when I called that I could have a more off to the side table since I wanted to have a special evening, but AGAIN NOT the case at all. We were seated in the open area, with the smallest table possible. I asked if we could move since it was another two person table near by and a little more quit but I was told no, that it was for someone else, when the table stayed open another hour before anyone came to sit at it. The waiter was not present/available the whole evening. It took 15 mins for someone to even talk to us. When our waiter finally came, she seemed rushed. This was our first time there, so of course we had questions about the food and what is recommenced. That seemed to bother her. We ordered drinks, but she only brought one. I had to remind her that we were still waiting for one and it still took her another 15 mins to bring it. The food was hot when it came out, which made waiting okay. He loved the food and I was just okay. I was more upset that it was not what I had expected and wanted the dinner night to be for my boyfriends birthday. NO a place to go if you are looking for a romantic evening. We spent 80 dollars, on 2 pasta bowls, one drink with alcohol and one coke, we had no salads, no appetizers. Place was too much for it NOT to be the higher end place that it comes across of being. Could have spent less at Olive Garden and had a better time and more food. NOT GOOD! I recommended Roche, where I work to change the holiday party, to NOT BE THERE!
Fantastic meal from the beginning to the end… Great service, great food, great wine and delicious desserts as well. With the perfect evening. Zach took great care of us
Met a friend for dinner on Wednesday night. Sangiovese is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, the wine selection superb, and the ambiance lovely. Our waitress was delightful, helpful, and appropriately attentive. My only complaint this night was the noise level...the lounge of the music was a bit too loud, and there was a boisterous group at the bar which is open to the dining area. We had to talk a bit louder than usual to be heard. Otherwise, a good experience.
This is my favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. We’ve never had a bad meal or experience here. It’s consistently good, with great specials daily in addition to a wonderful menu.
Service was not great. The waitress told us it was her third day, it was very evident. She lost a credit card, after it was found she walked away as if she didn’t care. No apologies. No thank you for dining after we finished our meal. Not a good look.
Delicious pasta dishes. Small but intimate bar setting. Great service !
Amazing food & lovely waitress. Can’t wait to return & try a different entree.
Outstanding experience for our early family dinner
Our waiter described our meal Chicken penne with a cream sauce & it came with Diavlo sauce, when asked he had nothing to offer. I then just ordered soup which a lady served. I had lived Sangiovese for 15-20 years. I’m not going back. We were seated (stuck) in corner next to corner of bar. Waiters couldn’t get through, it was a total inconvenience constantly adjusting seats to let them through to serve others.
Excellent food, ambience, service. Very intimate setting. I started with the Aperol Spritz-ish ‘You Got Me at Prosecco’ cocktail; I’d return for this alone. I fully expected to take home half of my Lasagna Alla Bolognese for next day’s lunch, but couldn’t stop. Very good. This is my first visit, and I will return. I highly recommend.
We had not been to Sangiovese in quite some time. We tended to find the restaurant too loud. So we went in very early before a movie and concluded we will put up with the noise as our food was absolutely delicious. We will return often.
Wonderful dinner. Everything was delicious, service very good and noise level low.
The food was very good although not exceptional. I was not aware that I had ordered chicken parmesan until it arrived. A bit of a disappointment but it was still very, very good, probably some of the best chicken parmesan I have ever eaten. The chicken was extremely moist and tender. The Italian names on the menu are a bit deceiving but the service more than made up for it.
The Linguini Di Mare and Mussels appetizers were excellent. Crusty bread was good. But the olive oil tasted cheap. Service was impeccable. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.
I always enjoin returning to Sangiovese. It is always an enjoyable experience.
