Sandler's On 9th
This place really has the potential to be a good place to grab a bit to eat but the food was EXTREMELY bland and something was off with the fryer. The cocktails were overly sweet and took a long time to be served. The timing of the service was also off based on when we asked for the food to come out.
Ceasar salad was old and iceburg lettus - steak was very good - ridiculous amout of fries - they burnt the creme brule in front of us - we gave it back - service was lousy and slow - basically over pricced - wont be back
Had reservation. Waited 45 min for food to appear after having told waitress that we had theater tickets. Food mediocre
Seemed that be really busy but I think it was a lack of management and busying. They were having issues with open table so they did not see our reservation but they still accommodate our family
The restaurant was very pretty inside and looked just like the photos. Everyone was friendly, including our waiter. Food came out EXTREMELY quick, only 10 minutes after ordering. The waiter mixed up my partner and I’s food but no biggie. Food was pretty good, we only got buyers. Portions are a decent size. Overall would recommend.
This was the worst meal we’ve ever had in the city of Philadelphia.
It was Happy Hour so it was very noisy which we really didn't mind. We were shown to a table and told by the server we better put our drink orders in quickly or we might have to wait a long time. Then she took our order. We split a beet and kale salad but my partner got all the beets and I had virtually none. The salad was also overdressed. Before we were finished with our salad, the entrees came. That is a pet peeve of mine - timing of courses. If the food is ready, keep it under the heat lamps in the kitchen until you clear the first course. Anyway, the server comes to ask how we like the entrees. My husband was still eating his salad and said he hadn't tried it yet. Server seemed annoyed by that. He had gotten the trout special which was a tiny portion. Before we were half finished with our entrees, the server asked us if we wanted anything else. We just looked at her kind of confused by the question. So we said no and she said she would bring our check. We went somewhere else for coffee and dessert.
Great coffee, excellent breakfast. The best part was Savanna. She was the absolute best. Friendly, prompt, just a pleasure to meet.
Its a nice place to go and just chill with your friends or have a last min dinner plan with the boyfriend/hubby. I love my crab cake sandwich, but my hubby didn't care to much for their ribs. Our waiter was nice and inventive maybe because it wasn't that busy. Due to it being Valentines day I was expecting a lot more ppl there
Sandler's on 9th keeps getting better and better. The service is outstanding and the staff very friendly. The menu is extremely creative and always seems to feature something I am craving.... but didn't know I was. You need to try the Funnel Cake French Toast. It is to die for!! Great parking too (makes a difference in Philly). Try it..... you'll like it! :-)
I’m not sure what was going on here, but the place wasn’t super busy and somehow service was extremely slow. We had an appointment at 8 PM that we *just* made it to. The food was nothing to write home about, and it’s a little weird that the main course only came with a starch and not a vegetable. I wasn’t surprised by the price, but expected the quality to match it. This was almost standard chain pub fare.
Also, part of the order was wrong, but given how sluggish and unresponsive the service was I can’t imagine going back.
Food was okay, but nothing special.
Good value for what we ordered (lox and bagel) . Very lively atmosphere. Good wine list. Server was competent and friendly in spite of being very busy.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, and were seated promptly. That was the last service we recieved during our visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes without any attention from wait staff, hostesses or even what appeared to be a manager or chef who came out onto the dining room floor to chat with another party. We had no drinks, and it was very clear that the hostess who sat us was aware that we had not yet been served but she seemed lost as to what to do about it. We finally gave up, approached the hostess stand, explained the situation and, only then, did they offer to get us a server. We let them know we were not interested and that the treatment was unacceptable. We won't be back, there are too many options in this city to be subjected to that kind of non-service.
Had breakfast for lunch...food excellent. Portions way too large...
It was our first time eating at Sandler's on 9th and I was most impressed. The service and food were wonderful and the ambience was lovely. We sat in the courtyard area of the building, and it was very pretty and very private. We had brunch and then happily sat there for a while enjoying the atmosphere.
Food was just ok.
Roasted beet salad was large enough to share and very good. Excellent crab cakes no filler . The portions are large and the sandwiches are outstanding. A good classic Turkey Club. I highly recommend.
Wasn't thrilled with our experience. I am in the hospitality business and a former restaurant manager. I did research before choosing this place and am surprised it has good reviews at all. Our reservation was for 5 people at 6pm. Upon arriving (the restaurant was maybe a quarter full) I stated that we had a reservation. The girl at the host stand turned to the manager and said "can we do it?" Not sure what the deal was there since we had a reservation and there were empty tables everywhere. Then we were led to a table for 4 that an extra chair was just shoved on the end to make it a 5top. To be gracious to my family, I took that end seat. As our waitress was delivering our drinks (which she could barely fit with all of the silverware and other glassware on our table) I asked if anyone would be sat at the 2top behind me, and she said she didn't think so and could make sure that no one was sat there during our dinner. I then asked if we could just have that table added to ours for extra space. She said ok and I helped her move the table over. I wasn't trying to be difficult, but we were sat at a table that was clearly too small for 5 and had they sat a table behind me, my hair would have practically been in their food. It wasn't very accommodating.
The food was just ok. The bread on my lobster roll was tough and flavorless. I didn't bother eating it. My guests didn't have anything great to say about their meals either.
All in all, my biggest problem with our experience was our server's use of an electronic device to take our orders and process payment. She was very slow using the device and taking our orders took forever. Then when my father gave her his credit card, she swiped it right there, which was great, but then proceeded to stand next to him while he filled out her tip amount on the device. I felt that it was an extremely unprofessional process and needs to be adjusted. We will not be back.
Everything is always good there, the food, the service, etc.
Two of four patrons were unsatisfied with the food. Ordered medium burger and received raw, and lobster for lobster roll came out of a can. Salmon was delicious as were the chicken tenders.
Good food selection and friendly wait staff. Nutritional facts about the food selections would be helpful for those of us that track our food intact via app’s
This was the second time my group met here before going to a matinee at Lantern Theater. The menu is perfect for us. We all thought what we ordered, eggs, salads, burgers, were very good. The owner heard us asking about “poutine” and brought an order for the table. A very nice touch.
We will certainly be back.
Great business lunch experience. My friend has a strict gluten free diet and they were very accommodating. Lots of great options including all day breakfast! Will definitely be back again!
Went around 7:15 on a Saturday night. The place was dead but it seemed like forever before someone came to our table to take our drink order. By the time they came over we were ready to order everything. The server was not particularly knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks we ordered were yummy. The bacon app was very impressive to look at. My husband loved it. I got a burger that was definitely good. My husband got the bacon poutine. Less than impressive on that one. French fries with cheese sauce. No gravy. No cheese curds. The music kept abruptly stopping and switching to a different song. Lots of brittney spears, spice girls. Odd choices for a restaurant that’s trying to be fancy The food was decent for the most part but I wouldn’t go back considering the service and prices.
We ate in a section of the restaurant that is in the atrium of the Ben Franklin. It was beautiful, quiet, cozy, great ambience. The waitstaff were very pleasant and eager to help. The menu has a large variety of choices. Food was tasty.
We had an early Saturday breakfast and it was delicious! Will definitely be going back! Staff was very attentive and super nice!
Great Bloody Marys... get the Cheese Burger Bloody Mary, for .50 cents more you get a small cheese burger slider with your drink.
We went for bra
The service was good but the food was subpar. We ordered a beet and kale salad and when it arrived, there was no kale, the beets were undercooked and there was an over abundance of cheese and nuts. The dish was not a reflection of the menu description, a major pet peeve of mine. When I asked the server about the kale, he said that this is how the salad is prepared, so it wasn't even that other lettuces were subbing for the kale. PLEASE serve what is listed on the menu! Also, my daughter ordered a kid's cheeseburger with a side of roasted veggies. The proportions were so surprising, with a tiny cheeseburger and a huge bowl of veggies. What kid eats like that?! The turkey burger was average and did not seem homemade at all. We were going to the theater and so I tried to find a restaurant close by. Most restaurants didn't have available tables at the time we needed, but this place did, so I made a reservation. It was almost empty at 6:30pm on a Friday in Philly, where it is hard to get a table at most places. Now I know why!!
Breakfast all day. Options for young and old. Great onion soup! Good service, nice menu with some unusual choices. Good family place, but also good for a bar because it was separated.
Great competition to Jones. Best French toast ever. Only thing so so were the hash brown potatoes. Fix that and the restaurant was Great!
Great food. Was perfect for disabled access, with great bathrooms as well. A pleasure to find a place so yummy, close to Walnut Theatre, that was completely accessible.
Had an amazing brunch at Sandler’s. Everything was awesome including the ambiance!!!
Great food. Wonderful city location. Good food reasonably priced. Very cute atmosphere chic and casual. Attached to beautiful building lobby.
Fantastic spot for brunch or breakfast. Great for adults and kids alike. Our one and five year old grandkids enjoyed the burger, mini pancakes, and delicious fresh fruit with blackberries pineapple, melons. Meanwhile, adults can order Bloody Marys and other libations from the full bar. Great Benedicts, blintzes, egg dishes, sandwiches and apps plus coffees teas etc. We had a great waitress and a cozy corner table that was perfect. She made sure kid’s food came out promptly. On site ownership and management keep thing late running smoothly. Beautiful decor convenient to many sights in East center city. We’ve also enjoyed lunch and dinner and cocktails there. Great all day menu. Large screen TVs available. We will be back!!
The food is creative, tasty and very well presented. Dreams do come true!
Was my BFFs birthday and it was amazing. Great customer service and great food.
