Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey

Our waiter was the worst. After ordering our drinks they didn't arive until ~15 min after. Our waiter was never around.
The food was great and I loved almost everything we tried.
Have some secret vegetarian menu items that were delicious. Service and food were amazing. Highly recommend.
Although the host didn’t do a great job of accommodating us for a pre-reservation drink, we got in early .... and once seated, had amazing food, drinks, and service! We sat
Sandfish provides a different twist and flavor on my beloved sushi, but it's all good flavors.
I started with an order of tuna and an order of yellowtail nigiri sushi. Flavor - great! However the yellowtail was as if it was cut from the "tail end" of the yellowtail supply, fell apart, and was dinky in size. Flavor also excellent.
The main course I ordered was superb.
I must however mention it was very pricey. Keep it in mind when looking for a special occasion celebration (it was a birthday for one of the three of us.)
The most amazing sushi.
Superb sushi dinner. Loved the different drinks the bartender came up with featuring tequila!
This place is not only overrated in terms the food they serve, but the manager is also the worst possible host. We had a reservation through Opentable but got there earlier, wanting to grab a drink at the bar. Since we saw quite a few tables open we said we were okay with sitting down early. The person who received us (whom we later found out was the manager) offered us the worst possible table available out of all the available ones (restaurant was half empty) next to the door/main entrance with people standing and going in and out all the time. Since we saw all the other free tables we asked if it’s possible to be seated elsewhere. The answer was no so we were seated at the door table. Not much later the table next to us which was a couple left freeing up a space for 4. We asked to move and weren’t offered that opportunity either. Then a couple walked in and was seated right next us side by side, taking up a 4-top (the 2 free tables right next to us! Unbelievable) When we voiced our concern first with the server, he didn’t seem to care much. Then we called for the manager who when he showed up, turned out to be the person who so terribly received us. And his answer was that there’s not much he can do and couldn’t care less. We left without leaving a tip and leaving a note on the check about the terrible reception by the manager.
When we had just left they pretended to try and call as if we hadn't showed up for our reservation while the manager did check us off his tablet when we arrived and they told Opentable (where we hBe made reservation) that we were a no show, while they very well knew we had just left.
Not only are they not professional but they LIE. Incredible. We have been to some of the best sushi restaurants in LA, NY, and Paris, and their sushi is nothing special about it. OVERRATED AND UNWELCOMING.
Make a reservation!!!!! Food was delicious every plate was jam packed with delicious flavors!!!
Our second time here and didn't dissapoint. Creative and tasty food....and the drinks!
I wish that they had more authentic Japanese omakase
All was amazing as usual. The service was just a tad slow which is unusual. It wasn't very busy either. I will chalk it up to perhaps the server having an off night. Otherwise we all really enjoyed it.
The greeter the server the Chef were outstanding and of course the food was the best. Josh was our server and well... what more can I say. We had a wonderful dinner and will share our experience with all our friends.
Excellent as always !
I made this reservation over a month ago and when I arrived (within 15mins of my Reservation) I was told my table wasn’t ready and had to sit at the bar for the meal. I came all the way from Australia so not impressed.
Excellent! Hands down our favorite sushi restaurant in the desert. We love coming here cuz we know we'll get quality sushi, delicious sushi, great service in a cool place!👍😎
Our favorite dishes are the Hamachi collar, the octopus, the lagostino roll, spicy tuna tostadas...and of course their carefully crafted awesome cocktails.🍸Bluefin tuna was an added surprise tonight, and as always... delicious and fresh.🍣 Make reservations early, or you'll miss out!
Fabulous experience overall. Food was superb and waiter was warm and friendly.
Amazing! Terrific sushi and very kind staff.
Sandfish is a stop we make every single time we visit Palm Springs without fail. The staff is amazing (hi Omar and Josh!) and we feel so welcomed and enjoy every single bite of our food every time we dine at Sandfish! If you are in the area, make the stop. You won’t regret it! Try the Koko roll and the Sandfish roll - you won’t be sorry!
The food is amazing - sandfish roll in particular is very good! Hamachi crudo is also a great appetizer. But the service is very slow so if you have somewhere to go or are impatient then nope. There’s a lot of people so reservations are difficult but even with one, you’ll have to wait a lot!
Very good sushi and definitely interesting drinks and presentation all around. The quality of the sushi was high for sure, but if you are a nigiri eater, not a ton of options but totally solid. Skip the toro and go for the salmon.
Server was inattentive so I left. 20 plus minutes and she couldn't even bring me the water I asked for. I watched her wait tables within just feet of mine but she never came to my table to get my order even though I sat there with the menu laying away from me. Disappointing, to say the least.
The Sushi is amazing!! I take everyone I know to this restaurant. Taste, presentation and menu are exquisite!!
Service is great as well!
We loved everything about this restaurant except the noise level was unbearable. At the end of our meal-we arrived as the restaurant opened-we were shouting to be heard and we had one of the quieter corners. Very hard to improve that noise issue but if the chef owner can create such wonderful dishes I am convinced he will be able to quiet down the acoustics for a calmer dining experience.
AMAZING! If you love sushi, this is a great spot for amazing food and drinks.
Fresh fish, great ambiance, quick service! We had the zucchini blossoms, gyoza, salmon nigiri, steak roll, and baby langoustine for dinner. So freakin’ delicious!!!! The flavors were amazing and mouth watering. Definitely will be coming back on our next trip to PS! 100% recommend this place.
The food is good, although everything we ordered had microgreens and edible flowers which can get tired after the third dish. The main issue of why I wouldn't eat there again is the restaurant design leads to an incredible noise level. While attractive, it's all hard surfaces which reflect sound rather than absorbing it. So the noise level is really off the chart.
Very good food and interesting menu . Like to see more non rice sushi. Everything served was very good and I will go back
Delicious sushi and other lovely dishes. Excellent cocktails too. Sat outside which was a little warm but had a nice atmosphere. Super friendly waiter
Highly recommend! Great staff, excellent service, sushi is fresh and delicious
As always amazing food, hands down the best in town. But a service issue really made for a troublesome evening that could have been handled a lot better. Apparently the owner also owns a bar that was recently found to violate CA’s mandatory “ID to prove age” to purchase alcohol laws. As you can guess, most restaurants in CA do not card guests. In fact, I haven’t been carded when drinking alcohol in a restaurant in 20 years or more. So the owner of Sandfish has a strict policy about this. 1 of the 4 in our party of clearly “old” men in our 50s didn’t have an ID so couldn’t have a cocktail. We totally get it.....we need an ID. But if 98% of local restaurants don’t card (& frankly apply a stupid simple “logic” method of checking that we clearly are decades beyond 21), and Sandfish wants to be strict, then simply make that clear to the customer BEFORE arriving. A sign on the door is a start: “We enforce a strict ID policy for alcohol purchases.” Or even better, since we made reservations online, just send us email with that information. And if those absurdly simple ideas don’t work, offer the frustrated customer free tea or soda, which at Sandfish is pennies compared to the price of everything else. I hope Sandfish takes this as a learning opportunity. We certainly did and will always carry ID since a bored, over-zealous police force seems to have nothing better to do than harass restaurants for serving alcohol to old people.
Great miso soup, rolls were so-so. Sun was in my husband’s eyes the whole time.
We have dined here on at least a dozen occasions and have always been impressed with service and food. On this particular occasion, I can’t say we had a good experience. I made a Open Table reservation as I always have. Arrived on time and were greeted and seated. We ordered a couple of starters, then a few minutes later called the waiter back to take a drink order. Keep in mind, we were a table of 3 men (2x53yo’s balding and a 59yo man) Clearly of age. We were shocked to have to show ID in order to place a drink order! What!?! Seriously!?! 2 of us had ID. I did not have mine on me as we rushed out of the house I wasn’t driving or paying for the meal. We thought the waiter was joking at first. He was adamant that he could not serve me w/ out ID. We gave him alternative information to prove my age, but no go! It seemed so absurd and ridiculous (as we could have gone to 50 other restaurants in PS and been served with no issue). I’m not sure if Sandfish has been caught out recently serving minors, but we have never been required to show ID at the restaurant before. Bottom line, we left and dined elsewhere. We had a delicious Japanese meal down the street for about half the price and without all the absurd BS! Dine here! Just remember to bring a photo ID! That includes you grandpa! 🙄😂
Great sushi and service with very nice waitstaff.
Did not try Whiskey, but good wine
Beautiful presentation! Everything was so fresh! Best sushi I have ever had! Veggie tempura was also amazing!
Amazing sushi and signature rolls! Super cute happening spot.
Thank God there is finally a restaurant in Palm Springs where the bill is worth every penny. Outstanding customer service, tasty craft cocktails, and super delicious food! I highly recommend and can't wait to go back again and again and ...
We had a poor service experience and left the details to the owners. Their place seems fine but the hospitality was too bad to return.
Great place but service really slow. Waited 20’ for 4 pieces of sushis, probably bc not enough waitresses/waiters.
