Will start off by saying our server was excellent: knowledgeable, well spoken and professional. The food is fine by resort town standards. The signature rolls are overblown, which I guess helps justify the aggressive pricing, yet don’t offer enough deliciousness let alone flavor. What was hard to swallow was the reception and what I assume to be the manager. We arrived early for our reservation and found a clump of people standing at the welcome stand, a mix of people with reservations and waiting for takeout. For about 15 minutes not a single employee addressed anyone. Not even a ‘we will be with you as soon as we can’. Once we finally checked in we saw the same thing happen again again. No one at the stand, leaving customers to just stand and wonder what was happening. At one point the manager said something to the effect of ‘there’s a wait because customers are still enjoying their dinners and are taking their time to settle and leave’ Wrong. There’s a delay because you ignore your customers, overbook your reservations, and accept more takeout business than your staffing or kitchen allow. To blame your customers is lame. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation. There was an apology but it didn’t mean much after that experience. I know we are supposed to be patient these days because of the pandemic but this is clearly a restaurant burning the candle at both ends, disrespecting diners while trying to cash in on takeout. They don’t deserve patience or generosity because they offer none. Save this place for when you are desperate for sushi and don’t mind being taken for granted.

The food is great. The staff is awesome. The food takes a while to come out. I would say more than average.
We sat outside since the pandemic and it was a bit uncomfortable being next to the Main Street and dark.
Regardless I will definitely go back.

Such an excellent dinner - we chose the omakase (tasting menu) so it was a big splurge. We loved every course and savored every bite as the flavors in each course were subtle and well integrated. They have done a great job creating a pleasant outdoor dining deck from what I gather was a parking lot(?) and a few shipping containers to better ensure COVID safety and compliance. Very innovative and a wonderful experience!

Best dishes we tried were the Scallop in shell and Bluefin Sashimi - both were outstanding. The Spanish octopus was also excellent. Weren’t as enthusiastic about the Hamachi Kama. Pricey overall but worth it!

Great food! We indicated on OpenTable that we were celebrating our honeymoon but no one picked up on it. Meanwhile the couple next to us was loudly fighting and yelling the whole time! The tuna tostada was amazing and the hamachi Kama was perfect as well. Ordered a few more things and ended with an amazing scallop handroll

We looked forward to our dinner at Sandfish but overall were disappointed with the food from a Japanese restaurant. He we had the omakase course, which certainly had enough food but felt that the restaurant should be considered fusion cuisine given the mix of ingredients.

Excellent experience all around, ask for Michael if he's working, he's a 10/10. We did the tasting menu and the whole thing was delicious. The Sandfish roll was the best roll I've ever had.

What a disappointment... seated inside a cargo container with one side open, with one ineffective heater (we were told that the heaters were delivered broken) just outside the open area. Dark, cold and uncomfortable. The waiter in training gave us the speech on Chef Engin Onural being one of the top 30 in the world and unfortunately the food was sub standard. The Venue Roll, though it was hard to see looked better that it was. Just ok. The stuffed zucchini flowers a bit soggy from too much cream cheese and just a trace of tuna! The biggest disappointment was the Hamachi collar, served in a deep bowl, difficult for two to pry into the flesh of the fish. When we asked for side plates, one of the servers pointed to an extremely small plate that seemed to be serving as a liner for the soy sauce bowl. Finally the other server brought us some larger plates and by then the dish was already cold. Service was terrible. A third person brought orders from other tables to ours. The bill when requested had items that we had not ordered nor received. Wanting to get away from the entirely uncomfortable environment, had to walk to the front to pay our bill. And while waiting to complete the transaction saw 3 perfectly hot heaters in full action!
Oh and by the way we had called the day before our reservation to inquire about the seating know it was going to be cold, we where told that we would share a heater with another table. AN OUTRIGHT LIE. And finally we were advised that when making a reservation through Open Table, they cannot accommodate us to the better tables!

We have had the pleasure of dining at sushi restaurants such as Morimoto and Nobu, no way this can be amongst the top in the world!

Sushi is a must try. The rice is cooked to perfect way with soft and loose texture, warm temperature and right flavor balance. Hamachi Karma is huge and yummy. Octopus is grilled to perfection with crispy outside and juicy and tender inside.

The serving table is so small, maybe only two dishes are allowed on it. we had to rush with eating because food we ordered kept coming in and there was no enough space on the table.

Outside sitting is getting very cold at night, and we didn’t see enough heaters around.

As always, the food, drinks, and service at Sandfish were outstanding! We tried a few things we hadn't before, and they were all amazing... do not miss the grilled octopus small plate, the Wagyu Rolls, Baby Langoustine Rolls, and Lollipop Rolls. Scott, our server, was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Perfect night on the outdoor patio with good friends!

This is the best sushi dinner I've ever had!! I originally placed a reservation through open table but the times were limited and chose 5:00. Turned out it was too early. I called and spoke with the GM, Mackenzie, who graciously gave me a later time. Once there, our waiter, Brandon couldn't have been better! He's also a seasoned bartender who really helped out with amazing drinks. As far as food, we enjoyed the Sandfish roll, The Venue, The Experiment, The Scandinavian, Lollipop roll and the spicy edemame which was a taste bud high! The sauce made for a great dipping sauce, too. Mackenzie offered her own drink recipe that has no name yet. This was a super light choc/coffee after dinner martini that was the bomb! We all felt she needs to name it THE MACKENZIE!!! I had an Old Fashioned which I have the bar set very high. It was definitely one of the best I've ever had...it even had a clear square ice cube. My husband had...ODIN'S GIFT: Roku, honey, lime, cucumber, ocean sea salt. It was a perfect, refreshing blend. Overall, what separates this restaurant from everyone else is their ability to create the PERFECT balance of flavors and textures!!! The prices were a bit higher than those in P.S. but so very worth every penny! So, thank you, Sandfish for ending our vacation on the perfect note!

Food was amazing. Server kept forgetting our order and refilling our waters even when I asked several times. It did seem like a busy night though, so I understand. The food was amazing, but I ordered the off menu nigiri and was surprised to find that they costed 40 dollars for two orders.

Our server knew nothing about the menu, spoke over us when we talked. He said he doesn't even like sushi, which was strange. Also the fish was sliced too thick on the nigiri, and the meal was poorly paced.

I went to this restaurant twice a year ago and loved it, but sadly this experience was very poor.

My wife and I came to Palm Springs for a 10 year wedding anniversary getaway. We wanted to plan one special night out and were craving sushi! Sandfish exceeded all of our expectations. We booked a reservation online with ease through the OpenTable app. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and taken to our table outside. Everything felt very safe and there is a nice distance between the tables. They told us they’re working on doing a renovation outside to make it even more comfortable and inviting in the near future. Our servers, Josh and Kevin were FANTASTIC!!! They were very knowledgeable and took time to answer any questions that we had. Since it was a special celebration for us, they brought us complimentary champagne to start off the meal. They were very attentive but gave us the right space and time to enjoy our romantic evening. We didn’t feel rushed and the evening flowed really well. My wife’s cocktail was adorned with edible flowers and she said it was quite possibly the best she has ever had. The sushi was out of this world and beautifully prepared. You would’t expect such fresh sushi in Palm Springs but it was heavenly. We ordered three rolls and ate every bit. The desserts were delicious as well. I had the Matcha Oreo cheesecake and my wife had the espresso crème brûlée. Sooooo delicious!! The chef is fantastic. I would give 10 stars and a Michelin star if I could!!! We can’t say enough wonderful things about our evening! Already looking forward to coming back for our next visit.

This place just rocks! Mackenzie found our reservation and sat us within minutes, asking for our preference between a more lighted area or not. Our server, Josh, greeted us immediately upon sitting down and continued his extraordinary service until we were full and content. Outstanding food and service! Turns out you can find 5 Star sushi in the desert! I am usually more of a sashimi eater, but the rolls at this restaurant were out of this world as well. Full of flavor, unique, and fresh. Our white fish carpaccio was sliced so thin you could barely see it - truly incredible!!

Absolutely amazing. The omakase was perfection (and very generously portioned). Standouts were the octopus, hamachi, bread + duck liver, Sandfish roll, and the Oreo matcha cheesecake.
