Sanderson Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing service after an encouraging start. Long wait for wine, bread served after the starters were cleared away. No choice of sparking wines, only champagne which is surprising in this day and age as it is a very popular drink. On a plus the staff were all friendly and seemed attentive but didn’t seemed to know what each other was doing. There seemed to be a lack of training or more likely bad management on the day
Could not fault anything! Warm welcome as we entered and left the building. We sat in a covered outside area on what was a cold evening, however plenty of heaters, blankets to feel warm & cosy. The waiters were attentive, bringing a house cocktails before dinner. We ate from the set menu which catered for all us us (6 friends). Overall a lovely evening with everyone wanting to return.
My steak was not seasoned at all and was really bland. Swapped the chips for mashed potato and felt the entire meal was tasteless. Smoked salmon starter was literally smoked salmon in the shape of a rose. Nothing really to eat it with and sadly didn't enjoy the macha tea desert. Wasn't a great texture. The long bar was really good. Had a tray of cocktails as could taste mini versions and was really nice. Gin one was miles too powerful but the other 3 were lovely. Good atmosphere but a real shame about the dinner.
Came here for a business lunch with an associate. Despite being nearly empty, the waiter service was dreadfully slow, the food from the kitchens even slower. How good was the cooking? It ok, at best. Don't bother with this place. Better service, ambience and food can be found elsewhere. Easily.
Booked a table for to celebrate birthday for my friend
This restaurant managed to ruin my friend's birthday
The service was not up to a 5 star hotel standard
I don't know if it was because I booked for the 3 courses set menu or because of our race . We were not treated by the staff with respect .
We were not given any bread while there was bread plates set on the table !? However other tables did get bread !
Stated on the menu The steak would accompany with bearnaise sauce , however we were not given any sauce .
I tried to get the attention of the waitresses . Unfortunately , no one could noticed me . I went all the way to the staff and asked for the sauce
We waited for over 5 minutes for the sauce , obviously , When the sauces came, our steaks were cold already !
And it was a blackish sauce instead of bearnaise . We were given 2 small pots of sauce to share amongst 3 people ..
I asked the waitress what it was and she said that was a red wine jus and that was what they had and if we didn't like it , then they could offer us some other sauces !? Perhaps she could have offered right at the beginning rather than just giving us the red wine jus !
We declined the cocktails which were included in the menu and we told the waitress that we didn't drink alcohol.
it was obviously that we couldn't have anything with alcohol !
Our side orders never appeared !
I asked to see the duty manger regarding this . Waited for over half an hour , no one turned up . What kind of hotel was this ?!?
Moreover , the washrooms in the hotel were v dirty ! I thought I were in a night club toilets .. it was wet with black footprints on the floor .
Anyways , my friend 's birthday was ruined and I was left to feel extremely embarrassed to have booked for this restaurant for celebration
The restaurant ambience was nice, food tasted nice .
Expect 1 star service then you will be fine having a meal there .
Restaurant didn't have our reservation. It took them ages to have us seated. They assumed we were there for afternoon tea so we had to move tables. Didn't get to order till 30 min later. Service was sluggish, inattentive, courses took long time to come out, items were missing, staff knowledge of menu and command of English was poor. Overall an appalling experience. We were not charged the service but I'd not go back if they paid me.
Enjoyable lunch: I had a long lunch with an old friend at Sanderson. The hotel is very discreetly labelled but once inside the design is modern and fresh. The fixed price menu has 3 choices per course and potions were good for a lunch. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was prompt during the meal but we felt a bit stranded at the end waiting for our coffee. Overall we felt the price was good value for money as the included glass of wine was decent and the food was high quality.
Good food but very unimaginative menu. We booked through open table expecting a specific menu and when we arrived discovered it's an old menu on the website and the new menu was a fairly bland British food menu. Staff didn't handle th situation well. We made the most of it but had a fairly padestrian meal and were disappointedly by the whole experience.
The food from the set menu was fantastic and came with a complimentary cocktails called the Sanderson which was very nice, however you need to order a side to complete the meal. We were surprised at 8.30pm they had run out of chips, reluctantly we ordered sweet potato fries which were tremendous!
The only thing I was perplexed about was my vanilla ice cream had the taste of sage in it, the waitress insisted it was only vanilla ice cream but there was definitely sage in it somehow, with that aside overall the food was good value the drink were around twice over the market rate for the area, the staff were very friendly and professional.
On the design front the Sanderson has the usual high quality thoughtful contemporary design you expect from the Morgans Hotel group with its clever high and low tables working with the changing levels in the dining area. But the quality of the finish of the work is lower than I have seen in their other hotels. Nevertheless as always they have got the cool hip ambience right with laid back clubby vibe and even a DJ on the night we went, although I couldn’t see the DJ it was nice and a shame we had to leave early before the party got started.
We will be back.
We both enjoyed our evening here. The service was very good: unobtrusive and helpful. We enjoyed the cocktail and my first course of smoked salmon was good. My companion thought her roast beets rather small as a portion. We both enjoyed the rump of beef, but considered a plain tomato lacking the finesse that the restaurant might have provided! Dessert- an interesting crumble, completed the experience. I especially enjoyed sitting at the Long Bar for a drink before the meal and I will return!
Lovely restaurant and ambience. Very nice bar and cocktails. Set 3 course menu of £28 plus cocktail but we went for the à la carte. Would be good if the cocktail was included in the à la carte. The food was tasty but my only complaint is that the salad that came with the venison dish contained nuts and this wasn't explicit next to the item on the menu. I don't have an allergy but not keen on nuts in dishes so if I had know I would have opted for something or asked for the dish without nuts. I fed this back to the server and she was very understanding and said they would update the menu the next day. Can't beat the service here. Was impeccable and the food very tasty.
Very expensive for an average quality of food and a pour service. We had dinner for New year's eve. The menu wars 95 £ without drinks and the waitress was not professional at all. She served twice the first dish, served the aperitive with the starters and served a chamomila instead of the green tea that I ordered
This restaurant is the worst I have ever ate ever, they finally decided allow us not to pay cause really sucks after see the main courses asked for and 3main courses were definitely cost you nearly 90£at least that was our Christmas Day!!!
None of spécial choice for anyone pricey !!!!!but not valuable
Went here for Christmas day lunch, was due to sit for 4pm...didn't end up happening till 4.30 food not served till 5.30. Although the food was good the service wasn't, kitchen staff looked under pressure, waiters/waitresses didn't really seem to know if they were coming or going.
Disappointed in the service for our Christmas dinner - we lost part of our "sit time" due to being forgotten at the bar - then rushed through part of our meal - but, at the same time, sat waiting in between courses. Waiter seemed preoccupied and unconcerned with our requests.
Sadly this restaurant did not live up to the standard promised. We went there for Xmas day, waited an hour for our booked table, the food came fairly quickly, but it was a set menu. The food itself was not nice at all. The foie gras I had was full of meat veins and it had been fried! The rest of the food was not worth mentioning.
Good food and pleasant surroundings, but service left a lot to be desired. There were nowhere near enough waiting staff for the number of tables, and as a result we were ignored for the bulk of our meal. Only a few of our plates were cleared and the rest were left for over 45 minutes. I asked twice for someone to clear them, still without success. We had to wait so long that we had no time for dessert (we were there for 2.5 hours in total). The bill was presented with a 15% service charge, which was removed when requested, but without any hint of an apology or explanation.
What a find! The restaurant is part of the hotel and the exterior is not very inspiring, but once inside you walk down the Kong Bar to the restaurant. And it's a different world. We had a choice of sitting in the courtyard or inside. As it was mid-November we elected for inside. The service was very attentive without being overpowering. There was always someone to hand. The food was terrific - we chose the special 3 course option and really enjoyed it. A great place for very good service and terrific food. We are going back soon.
