Good food. Fun atmosphere. Nice outdoor heated seating.
Great spot on State with a killer outdoor dining room. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Definitely on the list for a return trip
Sandbar has been our go-to Mexican restaurant for the past 5 years we've lived here. We were devastated when they had a fire and ended up being closed for several months. Thrilled to have them back open! Dustin is our favorite waiter! Great guy.
Ate their for dinner. Sick the next day.
After 6 years spent in Mexico, I am usually disappointed by the Mexican restaurants whose food is nothing like what you eat in Mexico. But this restaurant is different and makes tasty real Mexican food!
We used a $20 Open Table certificate, part of the problem. The restaurants were limited to 3 in Santa Barbara and 2 more 60 miles away. We decided to take a chance on this one. Even the bar (it is a bar after all) wasn't very good with flat tonic in our drinks. The food really is terrible, fortunately not very expensive. It would be lovely if Open Table let the diner choose where to use the certificate.
Delicious food - HUGE portions! Great chips and salsa.
Friendly service and great food! We will definitely go back!!
I'd driven or walked past this place innumerable times. Was happy to see they took reservations and was able to reserve a table on a day when everything near the beach had a 90 minute wait (hard pass on that). Food was delicious and chairs were comfy. Lived up to my expectations!
Everything was fine, they were busy, our food took a while, was expensive and never asked if we wanted another drink when they were empty (water and beer) they just took the glass of beer and walked away. We wanted more beer but didn't see the waiter until we were asking for the check. My Q salad was good but pricy, it came with steak. It tasted good and was well cooked but was a little too expensive for the quality. Wish they had hot salsa. Cool place and odd fun outfits but had better of everything.
Delicious! It's been two years since our last Santa Barbara stay and Sandbar was very better than I remembered it.
This is a hot spot in Santa Barbara! I love the outdoor seating and the heaters or fire pit when it's a bit chilly! The chips and salsa are addicting and the food is top notch. You can eat your typical Mexican dishes or even order a more Vegan meal. I like the option.
Good food, lively atmosphere and reasonable prices.
My first time coming to santa barbra with my boyfriend and everything was great it was our first time at the restaurant and he enjoyed the food and the game was playing so that made him even more excited. Great customer service
Good food in a nice casual atmosphere. The crispy shrimp tacos were a hit. We would definitely consider going back if we return to the area. Service was good and food was served hot and fresh. Staff was pleasant.
This is our favorite restaurant when visiting Santa Barbara. The servers are always warm and gracious and friendly. The food is great and cocktails too. Love the fact that you can see TV screens from basically every seat.
We went to Sandbar for brunch on Mothers Day as it was one of the few places left that had reservations and started serving before 10 am. We were seated outdoors in their beautiful patio on a beautiful morning. The menu had so many great choices we had a hard time deciding and everything was DELICIOUS! And great prices!
Great meal with friends! This place serves up great food and service as always!
Food portions are quite large so would recommend Sharings items.
Cocktails are top notch 👍
Hostess and waitress were superb and made the lunch experience worthwhile. The waitress gave us pointers of sights to see so we were very appreciative. Great 80s playlist during our lunch as well.
Food was good, drink pricing is a joke. Margarita in a 8oz glass, filled to the top with ice , weakly pour for $10. Cost them maybe .60 cents.
The bean taco was exceptional! Warm-friendly and inviting. Sat outside with terrific heaters. Unusually good value located in the heart of State Street Santa Barbara.
Went during happy hour (3 to 7 except Saturdays) and ordered a margarita (could have been stronger) and 3 items off the half price appetizer menu - for just me. I'm a big eater but I'm not sure I could have finished even two of the appetizers. I'm talking big portions and all the dishes I tried were quite good.
So, the one drink I had was just okay. But the food was both delicious and a great value. I'd go back for sure.
Sandbar is our 'go to' Mexican restaurant in Santa Barbara, but usually we got for dinner. We have just recently discovered their Sat/Sun brunch menu and like it alot! LOVE the sweet corn cakes with poached egg and a delicious 'hollindaise' sauce. Yummy!
Food was delicious as was ambiance. Waitress was nice and friendly, but she would disappear for long periods of time. The bar took forever and the drinks were sub par. We would go back simply for the food and give another bartender a chance.
Since moving up to Santa Barbara, Sandbar has become our 'go to' place for good mexican food but this was our first time to go for Brunch. While a totally different menu than is offered at dinner, we loved what we ordered and will definitely be going back!
Nice surprise on State Street. Outside is comfortable, also during the evening with several heaters.
Was ok but a bit pricey . A little bit loud for a good conversation
The service was phenomenal! I had a reservation for six, and though two unexpected people showed up, we were given a larger table and accommodated for entirely. I adored the staff who worked so hard to make my friend's birthday special.
We were celebrating our anniversary! The moment we walked in we were greeted with great enthusiasm. Our server was quick to our table and had great recommendations!
We were in Santa Barbara for the weekend and made a reservation at Sandbar not knowing what to expect. Had a great experience! Food was great, so many TVs to watch college football, and atmosphere is unique. My only complaint is my margarita was unimpressive.
No your employees are terrible the was horrible..as a
Mexican was insulted ...your food was a notch above Chipotle , not saying much since a version of taco-bell
Our food was good but the service was awful. It was also very loud like a night club in there. The server never came around then got upset when we ask him to split the check. He then proceeded to keep my change without asking (I was going to leave the change for tip anyways but still expected him to ask). don't recommend if you want to go somewhere you can chat with friends.
Food was very good, but the place could use a good cleaning, table was sticky, floors and bathroom were not clean.
The food menu changed. The taste is not so great not sure if there is a new owner, new cooks or maybe ingredients changed.
Great food... Very genuinely nice staff
We ended going to Sandbar twice in three evenings we liked it so much. It's a fun vibrant place with different areas for seating. We liked the indoors outdoor sections. Service was fast and attentive. The food was good quality - in our case a nicely split carne asada burrito with two different sauces - and very tasty. Their guacamole is chunky and uncomplicated so the very fresh avocado can just shine. Their portions are sufficient for us, but for those expecting a huge plate don't be disappointed because the food and its preparation are excellent. A fun and worthwhile spot to go on State Street in Santa Barbara.
Sandbar makes their own tortillas, the guacamole house made and good, the meat grilled with a bit of char (nice!) and the margaritas tasty. Will return.
Fun little spot on State street with a lively, young crowd. If you are looking for a quiet lunch, go elsewhere. If you are looking to be surrounded by drunk 20 somethings, go here!!! Tacos were OK. Small portions and inexperienced wait staff.
Fun afternoon place.
