Sand Bar - Eden Rock
This was our 2nd night in a row dining here. That should say it all. The experience was so amazing the first time we came back to enjoy things we didn’t get to try the first time. Morgan, our waitress was amazing and remembered our names from the night before. The second experience matched/topped the first. Hedan (? My French is terrible) the bartender was most accommodating as well. He mixed my wife one of his own concoctions based on what she said she liked. 👍 It was spot on.
FNtastic service led by Julie and her staff!
Expected a better menu considering the reputation of the chef. Most of the menu was beach food, which we had for lunch. Lunch was very good. The same menu for dinner. Disappointed in the choices for dinner. Had the lobster pasta dish. The lobster tasted fresh but the pasta reminded me of reheated leftover pasta. Considering the reputation of the hotel I expected better food choices and better quality in the food.
Obviously beautiful view. Food was average for the price you pay. Worth it for the experience if you want to spend the money.
very nice experience at Sand Bar. Service on top and food at a good standard. Will be back soon
1. Everything you ask the answer is” reserved for the guests of the hotel”, even if the place is vacant
2. You should control the notice of the large tables, they tend to drink too much and start shouting
Beautiful!!! Great job with the renovation. The music was great l. The bar is beautiful. Drinks/food perfect. Glad to be back.
It was my first time back to Eden Rock for a lunch with my teenage daughter since Hurricane Irma. I have had many happy moments at the hotel/restaurants in the past and was looking forward to the occasion. The meal was absolutely incredible, The smell wafting from the gift shop, to the non stop attentive service made the meal incredible...but the view of sea and my child’s face made me melt during the meal. I was sure nothing could be better. Sadly it changed quickly. After lunch (during a very quiet week in St. Barths) we walked to the many, many open lounge chairs for a quick swim. I had even mentioned it to my waiter prior to finishing my meal who politely informed me to “check with The Beach Boys” (probably no longer an OK term to use in 2020 but that is not the issue). After my child went into the water and I was happily observing from one of the 3/4 empty chairs on the beach I was told very brusquely to vacate the area as the chairs were ‘For hotel guests only”. (In a loud voice!!!). I politely informed them I had just spent 2 hours at the hotel spending $$ eating lunch and was a ‘guest’ for the moment. In fact, my waiter informed me to “just see The Beach Boys” if I wanted one of the 40 open chairs that particular very slow day. However, the “Beach Girl/boss” of the beach was not interested and clearly had other direction. I was unceremoniously told to leave or to ‘go see if there is a spot by the pool”. It was like I was stealing something from Eden Rock, really humiliating in front of the two miniature dogs who were allowed to grace the lounge chairs instead of myself.
I left the Eden Rock that afternoon, moments before I had experienced perhaps my best meal on the island ever, deflated and embarrassed.
If I could give my experience zero stars I would. Clearly there is an effort to disenfranchise long time clients (and maybe new ones) to the lovely venue. My take away is simple. If you are not a celebrity, guest, or a dog of aforementioned do not come.
Fantastic atmosphere and excellent food
excellent service, food - everything!
Nothing was missing
Great place!!! Must go on St Barth! Very good service and ambience!
The interior architecture, colors used, and beachfront location are reasons alone to make a reservation. We had a little confusion with Open Table - we were 4 people and OT would only allow us to reserve 3. We changed it to 4 in person.
Upom arrival the valet quickly took our car and we were offered our choice on where to sit by the hostess. The restaurant was maybe half full.
Arthur, our server, took our drink and food orders and the food- several courses- arrived very quickly as did the wine.
After the main course was delivered, we were never checked on again. We poured our wine and water and chased Arthur down to order our Banana Soufflés.
The food was good- we would call it a good hotel restaurant but not up to our expectations of Jean George and Eden Rock. I had the black truffle pizza and two of our party had Gruyere Cheeseburgers and frites. The Soufflés were also good. The menu does not offer the creativity and innovation of Zion(Jean Baptiste), l’Esprit (Jean Claude) or Jarad at Toiny.
The table location we had was wonderful- on the right - as you look toward the ocean, beachside. We located Arthur and asked for our bill. We are glad we visited the Sand Bar but it will not be on our list to return to in the future. The prices charged don’t justify it with so many other excellent choices on the island.
Food was good but service is inexperienced. Dinner felt rushed.
The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. The building structure with its red steel beams contrasted against white colonial style wood open to the beach views was beautiful. The service was lackluster and uninformed about the menu and food in general. However, the biggest disappointment was the food. At the prices here, the food should be world class and it doesn’t approach that level. My lamb was tough and grisly and the sauce or whatever accompanied it was like tartar sauce. Not a good match for lamb. My wife”s blackened mahi mahi was under seasoned and unremarkable, and the fish was poor quality. Value here is non-existent. They need to find a new chef and train their service staff. This restaurant is not only not world quality, it does not qualify as island quality.
As always, great experience e with food and service. Thank you.
great lunch, drinks and ambiance
The quality of our sandwiches was quite poor. My tomato, ham and cheese sandwich (26 euros) had no tomato, a half slice of ham and a lot of cheese. My wise mahi salad made her physically ill afterwards.
Beautiful location, good service, but the food experience was quite poor.
Service was not great.... servers were very confused.
Food at best was mediocre
Atmosphere looked like a Vegas restaurant not a charming St. Bart’s restaurant ... not a good redesign
Too expensive for mediocre food and service
Food has not been good since 2017 at this restaurant
I try it every year but it has deteriorated each year.
Outstanding food, wine, in an absolutely gorgeous setting. Wow. Looking forward to our next trip to St. Barts - Sand Bar will be a highlight.
Beautiful setting. Doesn’t get much better!
Loved entire evening. Large portions, that was unexpected. Great DJ and pretty setting with fantastic view.
Incapable de cuire des penne correctement !!!
Quant au reste tout à fait médiocre
Prix très élevé
Vacation! Perfection on the beach!
See and be seen! Beautiful setting by the beach, wonderful service, good food, great music and unforgettable vibe!
The restaurant was fantastic. We arrived early so went for a glass of wine at the beach bar. The bar tender was oh so attentive to begin with until we told him we were not residents, my husband later tried on more than four occasions to grab his attention for another glass of wine but he was far too busy showing off, oh well. However I must say the staff in the restaurant were attentive and the food very good. Also one of the other staff at the beach bar, a delightful lady, was altogether more on the ball. Next time I will not be so reserved and shout for attention when someone is ignoring their job responsibilities and showing either ignorance or arrogance! Shouldn’t be necessary at Eden Roc, no doubt the guy concerned will move on or be moved on if he doesn’t get his act together.
Fabulous experience. Can’t wait to return.
favorite place on the island. great vibe and food is amazing.
Service was poor, rude. Food was very mediocre at best. I hope things improve as they have just reopened.
Accueil personnalisé, service impeccable, mets délicieux
L’Eden est de retour !
We had an amazing lunch. The lobster salad was fantastic! Skip the cheeseburger you can get that anywhere. Service was terrific also. Totally recommend- I am very particular!
Mega Lage und Ausblick auf die Bucht. Tolles Essen und Service, obschon der erste Tag nach der Wiedereröffnung wegen des Hurricane Schadens. Jederzeit sofort gerne wieder!
