Waitress was prompt and suggestive with menu items for my group of two adults and two kids. Never had the style food before but it was incredible, building is somewhat non descriptive, but next to a chocolate factory, easy walk from the mile.
Profesional, kind and down to earth service with delicious food - what more can you ask for!
Excellent food and service. Great place to spend an evening with friends.
San Soo is the best Korean restaurant I have experienced. Each dish is perfectly designed to bring the most pleasing flavors to the palette and the staff is attentive and efficient.
Amazing food and all around great place! We celebrated our engagement here and all our friends loved it!
They didn’t grant the request, no special attention towards the birthday that we were celebrating.
Food semi ok, didn’t ask if we wanted dessert either.
Everything is good, so it can be tough to make decisions. Whatever direction you go, you will end up with a good meal and probably a lot of food. The service is excellent - very friendly and helpful staff who like helping people navigate an exciting menu.
This is not Korean BBQ and pretty much American style grill. Do not recommend if you look for Korean BBQ.
I had been feeling homesick and needed some Korean BBQ in my life! The food was amazing, and the staff was extremely helpful and warm.
Perfect Night out at San Soo BBQ. Great food, Great Service. Will definitely come back!
I've eaten here a few times in the past, and until this trip it was always a great experience. Unfortunately, at this time the service was substandard. We waited long periods of time for our waiter when we needed something, and he seemed more interested in chatting with the other staff members instead of taking care of us.
Most of the food was still delicious. Only problem was with the rice bowl (bimimbap). Usually the stone bowl is ridiculously hot, which cooks the rice and makes it crispy. This time the bowl was only lukewarm and the rice never really cooked.
Based on past experiences, I would still go here. However, if this becomes the new normal, it would not be worthwhile, especially for the price.
Great food and variety. Excellent service and a nice decor/fun atmosphere
Very good food. Did the meal for 4 and it was way too much. All was excellent but would skip the Korean fried chicken next time. That dish was just ok. Everything else was great. Way too much food. Very good value. Service so so.
Very good service and great food
Food is amazing , the staff is amazing and the prices are amazing! I love the place.
Beyond amazing spot to share everything on the menu and love every bite. Go with friends and plan to share! Loved it all.
They gave my table to someone else who arrived earlier than me.
The restaurant was full so it was a little loud which made it difficult for my elder companions to communicate but the food and service was delicious!
Best Korean BBQ. It was excellent and you did not smell afterward!
Tap water tastes awlful. Service is slow. You have to share table with others. Over price.
The food was amazing but quite pricey, definitely the most expensive KBBQ place I’ve ever been to.
Wonderful food, and a staff willing to help you with anything you need! It was our first time at a Korean BBQ, and I was a little embarrassed that I didn't know how it worked, but the waiter explained everything perfectly and even helped cook the food. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a new, unique experience!
What a cool space and a fun, delicious experience! Our table could barely hold all of the food for our Feast. We had a blast!
Not that busy of a place bu
First time visiting San Soo. Had an amazing time. Server was attentive and engaging. She also helped Cook our food for us. Highly recommend the L.A. Galby, Sardines, and Scallion Pancakes. Looking forward to going back.
Excellent food and great service! Will definitely go again.
First timers at Korean barbque. Ordered feast to get. A sampling. The Brussels sprouts were excellent
A fantastic experience, wonderful food, and incredible people.
The two friendly Korean patrons seated next to us confirmed this is the real thing. Authentic Korean BBQ. Personable staff remained fully engaged with customers and even thanked us by our names as we left. Watch for opening of outdoor patio in late spring. Wonderful addition to our neighborhood.
food was not fresh, service was somewhat okay. They burned the meat and pretended nothing happened.
We've always love the original San Soo Kab San restaurant north of here. This one has more modern styling. The little dishes on the side didn't have as much variety, and the kimchee was not spicy enough. That said, bbq was excellent and service was strong.
Our waitress had to be reminded about requests more than once, but other than that the service was OK. Bit cold by the windows and got a draught every time the door opened, but that won't be an issue once it warms up. Nice selection of foods we've not really tried before, will be back to try more.
Amazing service! Amazing atmosphere! Amazing food! As a former English teacher who lived in South Korea I can attest that this place is truly authentic - such a great experience! We got the feast for 2 for $70. Highly recommend!
A little pricey but great food & service! Will definitely be back!
Good food & service. They offer a great deal for 2 and 4 ppl. I hope they become a neighborhood mainstay.
Best part of our dinner was our server Joe. He was personable, knowledgeable and took great care of us. Cocktails were tasty, the interactive food element was fun, and prepared dishes were delicious. Definitely recommend the scallion pancake and doing the bulgogi meat. Their “feast” menu option was a great way to taste through some dishes we typically wouldn’t have ordered. It’s an odd corner building that has been so many different things over the years and I hope this sticks.
Really outstanding hostess & wait staff. We did the BBQ with 1 meat (steak) plus an appetizer, which was excellent enough for two light eaters. Many people may want to order a 2nd meat for 2 people.
Not super authentic nor as much value as other places we’ve been to in the city.
Sansoo is bit overpriced for very fatty meats but the charring of galbi was nice. Personal opinion, but communal seating is not ideal for KBBQ. Food (meat and jjigaes) is just ok/average, but overall service was good; server was very kind and attentive. I am just happy to see the Korean food industry growing in Chicago.
Our waiter was extremely nice and friend and gave a lot of good recommendations. Hopefully we will be back soon :)
