About this restaurant

  • Hot spot
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for creative cocktails
San Sabino is a seafood focused restaurant from wife and husband team, chefs Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli, in partnership with Quality Branded.

After working in some of NYC’s top Italian restaurants and dreaming of opening their own special neighborhood spot, Angie and Scott opened Don Angie in 2018 to tremendous critical acclaim. They quickly became known for boldly unexpected dishes that challenge your perception of traditional Italian-American cooking.

Six years later and just a few doors down from Don Angie, they've now opened their second restaurant, San Sabino.

Named after Scott’s grandfather (from Sanza, Italy, where most people are named after the patron saint Sabino), San Sabino offers a playful spin on Italian dishes from Shrimp Parm to Pasta Alle Vongole, with bold twists influenced by coastal American cities where many Italians settled, from New Orleans to the Jersey Shore.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Angie Rito & Scott Tacinelli

From the OpenTable editors: The sophomore restaurant from Don Angie's Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli points its focus at the sea, taking a spirited spin on traditional coastal Italian-American favorites. We’re talking crab-and-mortadella dip spiked with dill, pasta alle vongole given a shot of heat with aji amarillo, and shrimp parm with a sweet and sour arrabbiata. Although the menu leans playful, the sexy dining room and serious cocktails that don’t take themselves too seriously (think: a martini made with “garlic bread” vodka) make this a decidedly grown-up second effort.

Outstanding. Every bit as amazing as Don Angie. Mind-bending flavors. The whole menu is insane, but don’t miss the best meatballs in history, and the (I kid you not) the garlic bread martini. Wow!

I had dinner at San Sabino with my daughter for Fathers Day. It was a superb experience. The services was fantastic, the menu was small but had plenty of diverse options ( just the way I like it) and the food was prepared perfectly. It could not have been any better.

Amazing and very special! Wow even the tricolor salad was awesome. I never get excited over a salad, but even the salad had the wow factor. We tried many things on the menu. They were all awesome. The halibut was delicious. The Sunday pasta with mini meatballs was incredible. The muscles Yum. I can go on and on everything was a 10 ! Looking forward to coming back service is great too 😊

San Sabino checked all my boxes! Amazing ambiance, wonderful service, and fabulous food of course!! Our waiter helped us build the perfect selection of dishes and drinks. Highly recommend sitting at the bar with a date or girlfriend. Elevated yet casual enough that it doesn’t feel stuffy at all. I loved it!!

The food was exquisite, traditional southern Italian but each dish has a little twist to it to make it entirely the chef's own. Highly recommend the lobster ravioli and the crispy tuna.

The food is obviously delicious but truly the service is what sets San Sabino apart from other west village Italian spots. It’s also not as loud as other places, not sure why but maybe just better acoustics
