San Remo Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere for Valentines Day was nice, especially with the music and the staff was friendly. However the Valentine meal of Filet Mignon was disappointing. Not cooked to order, wanted medium rare and got well done and it was served as 2 pieces on my plate?! No one bothered to ask if we were satisfied with the meal. May be good for Italian meals, but for Filet Mignon would not recommend it
Our waiter never came over once to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. We saw him 2 times, for our dinner and dessert orders. Also, when we asked him about how certain dishes were prepared, he wasn't so nice. Ralph, the owner, did come over to our table 2 times and we had to ask him to bring us a couple of things since our waiter never came around.
Just happen to be looking for an Italian restaurant in Rockville Centre I decide to give this restaurant a try. The food was so amazing and fresh. The service was excellent. If you looking for a nice place to eat give this place a try. You will not regret it
When arriving there was no available parking in the ample municipal lots or the street so we wound up walking a great distance to the restaurant. Only the neighboring restaurants provided valet parking which I would have gladly done.
After being seated for our 7:30 reservation we asked to see the "Restaurant Week" menu and were informed that it was only valid until 7pm on a Saturday night. Upon discussing with the staff and indicating that unlike other restaurants listed on the website that had limits and restrictions on a Saturday night, they had no notifications whatsoever and since we spent 15 minutes looking for a parking spot and had a 10 minute walk would they be so kind as to accommodate us. They repeatedly declined to do so. We left on general principle and did not
stay for dinner.
Food was only ok. Did not like that credit card folder contained a sticker asking for tips to be left in cash. That's not right and violates the owners agreement with the credit card company. Worse, it indicates servers may receive less than the stated amount if the tip is left on the card. Meaning that the owner is making the server pay the 3% or so that the credit card company takes. That cost should not be passed from owner to server. We left our tip in cash but we won't go back.
Ate here for a birthday. The food and service were outstanding. They have a good selection of Italian-American dishes. Portions are large and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Ralph, the chef/owner came out to greet our table, which was a nice touch. The stuffed artichoke was delicious, as were all of the main courses at our table. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge, so allow a few extra minutes for this. I would definitely come here again and I would recommend this restaurant.
Food was delicious and worth every penny. My mother and I wanted to split a meal and they brought it out already split, which was very nice as you don’t see that often. There was live music (a man singing basically into a karaoke machine [for the background music; he knew all the songs he was singing] by himself, but it was really lovely and he had a lovely voice). There were some weird mixups with what was ordered as my husband basically, unbeknownst to him until the food came out, created his own dish. The confusion was resolved and the hubs elected to keep his custom dinner and found it fantastic. FYI if you are coming with kids (they were great with our daughter) that have small appetites or toddlers who eat like two bites, and you want to order the pasta with red sauce for them, save the money and give them some of the pasta side that accompanies the meat dinners. The kids’ pasta was HUGE.
San Remo is decent but not exciting especially when you consider the amount of other options in RVC. The food was kind of basic from pasta to fish and veal, even the fried calamari was bland. It's not bad just middle of the road and perhaps a couple dollars overpriced for a parm plate by example. Desserts were good - gelato and strawberries zabaglione. Service is friendly but perhaps a little intrusive. They have a kids menu. We likely would not return.
The reviews on Open Table and Yelp got it right. San Remo Ristorante is a superb dining venue. Our party of twelve raved about the quality of the dishes and the waiter and supporting crew. A range of dishes were ordered from the diversified menu, including the San Remo and Caesar salads, stuffed artichoke, stuffed avocado, pear salad, stuffed gamberi, veal valdostana, veal osso boca, Dover sole and veal parm, all of which received rave reviews!!! And the desserts were scrumptious, especially the chocolate polenta, midnight moose cake , tartufo and apple Carmel cake............ Treat yourselves at San Remo. There's street parking, and, valet parking around the block where there is an additional entrance.
We have been here on many occasions. The wait staff is patient and attentive to details. The wine list is good with many selections available from vineyards around the world. The food has always exceeded our expectations and the diverse specials keep the menu from being stagnant and boring. When we have brought friends, family and clients, it has been a positive experience for all, and has come up in general conversation on other occasions about how good an experience it was.
Went with my husband for a pre-birtyday celebration. He loves their veal dishes. I love their food also and esp love their decor. San Remo is a really nice place for a romantic dinner. The waiters are awesome, one even winked at me (loved that). We have come here many times and always left very satisfied and happy. We have brought other people here and they were equally impressed. A little bit of romantic Italy right here in Rockville Centre.
