This was recommended by a foodie friend who visits NYC regularly, and we were glad he did. We enjoyed the Paccheri della Domenica, $48, Neapolitan-style rigatoni with sausage, lamb, beef, and tomatoes. We like Saltimbocca as a test of Italian restaurants because of the mix of textures, aromas, and flavors from what is usually made with veal, prosciutto, and fresh sage leaves in a delicate white wine and butter sauce. It wasn’t on the menu, but the owner said, of course, they could make it. The veal was fork-tender, and the prosciutto was one of the best we’ve tasted in any similar dish. San Pietro has an excellent wine list, including by the glass. We enjoyed a 2019 Super Tuscan for $28 and a 2013 Brunello for $32. Service was effusive and polished. Portions are large. We’ll be back.

San Pietro is a gem, truly outstanding. Food is like you are in Italy. The service is incredible. We try to visit for lunch or dinner every time we are in NY. It’s that special. Thank you for a lovely evening.
