Perhaps the best dinner I have had in my fifth-teen years in Los Angeles. Heirloom tomato to start, lubina with donostiarra sauce for the entree with a perfect sauce, tres leches for dessert. Looking at the menu, I was not excited about any item. By the end I was ecstatic about each of them.

The food here was actually quite good, but the service was surprisingly disappointing. After placing our order, our server basically disappeared—we didn’t see her again for a long time. We waited nearly 30 minutes to get all of our dishes, only to find out one of the entrées was either forgotten or never relayed to the kitchen. Our hot chocolate never arrived at all, yet it was still included on the bill when we checked out. There was barely any service throughout the entire meal. The server only returned when it was time to pay, and even then, we had to ask twice just to get a to-go box. To make things worse, the restaurant offers a valet sticker for discounted parking, but she never mentioned it. We ended up having to make two trips to sort that out. Overall, the food doesn’t quite make up for the chaos and lack of attention. Definitely not the dining experience we expected.

This is my second time having brunch at San Laurel and it was just as wonderful as the first. Beautiful setting in the balcony with an unobstructed view of Disney Hall. Service is impeccable as is the creativity of the food. I had to order the El Camino again, a deconstructed omelette with caviar, labneh, and edible flowers. This visit I also ordered a side of the Yucatán turkey sausage. Be prepared, it is two large grilled sausages! I took one home for dinner. This is a perfect dining spot if you’re heading to the Music Center, Disney Hall, or The Broad.

Great service but I had high expectations for this restaurant. The wagyu steak was really dry. The lamb was good and so were the scallops but nothing impressive

Our experience at San Laurel was once again absolutely wonderful! Our server, Johnny C, was the most awesome server. Although the restaurant was busy, he was most attentive, personable and accommodating. He constantly checked with us to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Our food was also exceptional. We spit the pancakes as a breakfast appetizer and then had the eggs with sausage and potatoes and the Greek yogurt with granola and fruit. Our table had a beautiful view overlooking the concert hall and was most comfortable. We enjoyed meeting our hostess, Madeline who was so outgoing and made wonderful menu suggestions for us. She also checked back with us just to make sure we loved everything, which we did! We can’t wait to return!
