Gnocchi Alla Gorgonzola
Potato pasta with gorgonzola cheese, a touch of cream, prosciutto & radicchio.
Italian "Mac & Cheese"
Penne baked with grana, pecorino, butter, bread crumbs, american cheese & a touch of cream topped with truffle oil.
Classic meat sauce lasagna with ricotta and smoked mozzarella.
We've eaten at this restaurant in the past and the food quality has slipped. My ravioli was under-cooked (a huge no-no for an Italian restaurant), my husband's fish was listed on the menu as a filet but was served as a whole fish. The waiter did de-bone the fish at the table but there were still many large bones. And they did not currently have a liquor license. We found that out after we were seated. Would have been good to know in advance. The best dish was the chicken special, pollo san gennaro.
Great Father’s Day lunch
A perfect post zoo treat. The service was friendly and quick and despite generous portions, everyone cleared their plates. A very enjoyable meal.
great pasta dishes
My friends and I took one of our friends there for her birthday. She picked this restaurant because it had Gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese cream sauce on the menu on line. When we got there it was not on the menu but they did have the cream sauce on another entree. They made gnocchi with the sauce for her. She was so happy, it was delicious.
This is a small restaurant which I didn't know when I booked it but it was perfect. Not loud or too busy. Staff was so nice. It is a BYOB which I didn't know so we didn't bring any wine. I believe they may be getting a liquor license soon.
I would definitely go back.
The food and service were outstanding!
My favorite restaurant on Arthur Avenue, as they are all excellent but this one stands out as superb.
We went here for Mother’s Day and it was amazing! My boyfriend and I got there on time for our reservation at 1 but my grandma and mom were 30 minutes late because Arthur ave was blocked off and they needed to walk to the restaurant. We explained that my grandma has COPD and didn’t bring her oxygen so it would take time for them to get there and they were so understanding!! Even though it was a busy day for their restaurant, they were so kind and did not rush us one bit. The food was also delicious!!!
Food and service was outstanding. We were a group of 8. The food came promptly and was delicious. Every dish. Wait staff was super accommodating as well. We will certainly return.
The food wasn't good. Tomato caprice was bland and did not have basil. The fish was served whole including the head. Requested to have the fish filleted, the waiter decided to do so in the middle of our table, causing us to lose our appetites. The fish still had lots of bones, which my girlfriend got a mouthful of. We sent it back and was not offered a discount or alternative dish. When we asked for it to be removed from the bill, the waiter yelled at us. Very unprofessional. Don't bother with this place
The food was delicious, the waiter was wonderful. He made sure we were comfortable, gave us great suggestions on the menu, and protected my son's dish from the rest of us since we all wanted to try it, so funny! Great night, will definitely come back.
WONDERFUL FRESH PASTA....great service. Lots of fun
We came to San Gennaro to celebrate our 33-1/3 Anniversary and were extremely pleased. Starting with a classic Cesare salad we then shared two specials, a Limoncello-ricotta cheese Ravioli with basil pesto sauce, and Pollo Rosalinda which was a tender chicken breast with spinach and prosciutto with winter vegetables in a brown gravy. Everything was really delicious, and then we ordered the Limoncake which was stunningly good, moist lemon cake with limoncello mascarpone cream layers. We dream of when we'll be able to have that cake again! Both our waiter and the chef were very friendly and made our anniversary visit special.
This place is amazing!
Too cold to dine outside - quality was disappointing. Staff was lovely
They had the place set up beautifully and seemed very COVID responsive...we arrived early for our reservation and they still accommodated us...service was energetic and friendly though you could tell they were a bit under staffed probably another COVID fallout...branzino was excellent as were the caesar salads, pasta Faggioli, and linguini with clam sauce. Gorgonzola gnocchi and chicken dish were both good but not quite as amazing as the other items...wine was reasonably priced and portions were generous. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and would definitely go back when in the area.
Very good food and good service. We will go back soon.
Very excellent! Owner was so welcoming, warm and personable. Food was DELICIOUS - especially the eggplant. Highly recommend.
From the moment we arrived we knew our choice was a good one. We sat outside in a shed that was open on one side. It had heaters to keep us comfortable during dinner. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. The wine choices were very good and reasonably priced. The owners were friendly and willing to please. The bathroom was clean and cozy just like the restaurant inside. I’ve already recommended this place to others. We will be back again soon.
Great food and excellent service
San Gennaro is always the perfect place to dine. The service, food and atmosphere are always perfect and the Chef Gennaro is always friendly and makes sure his customers are happy. We have been going to this outstanding Italian restaurant for years and never disappointed. Highly recommend!
Great service A+++++

Francesco the waiter is Italian, very nice, professional and attentive, as well as all the staff even the owner Gennaro is Italian. I’m The food it’s “oh my god” delicious and fresh!
I'm literally addicted to the Nudi pasta but everything it’s amazing.
The food in all of the restaurants on Arthur Avenue is terrific. However, at San Gennaro, everything was excellent! The people are fun, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an authentic Arthur Avenue experience.
Such a cute Italian restaurant! Loved the food and the wine. An excellent experience all around!
This is my second time in this little place they never disappoint me food and service they are outstanding!!!!!! 100% reccomend
The food was absolutely delicious. The waiters were very friendly and nice. What I loved was that the food was brought out to our table in a timely matter so that was a plus. :-) I had an amazing experience there and I definitely will be back to dine there again. I couldn’t have picked a better place then San Gennaro. This was a perfect choice. Thank you to all the staff at San Gennaro for a lovely dinner. You guys are absolutely amazing. And to anyone thinking about going to San Gennaro to dine I highly recommend to go! :-) Thanks again.

Nice place, the food was great. The service was not great.
It was very good.
Good food. Not staffed sufficiently - very mediocre service. Owner/waiter was a rude big mouth.
Beautiful place love the staff are always so welcoming and the food is great thanks again
Service was timely and friendly. Th anti pasta was great.
Our threesome shared our dishes. I loved the veal Gorgonzola w walnuts and my chicken cacciatore was the group fave.
Awesome homemade cannolis for desert.
Go and enjoy
The food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is small and quaint.
This was the first time we’ve eaten at San Gennaro. We’re from Staten Island and we go to Arthur Ave a couple of times a year, usually after a visit to the Bronx Zoo Or Botanical Gardens. We went on New Year’s Day with a group of 14, including 2 children and 2 vegans! We decided on San Gennaro because they take reservations and were enthusiastic about our large group.
The service and food were outstanding. In addition to the regular menu, they offered a good selection of tempting specials. I ordered the branzino special, an entire fish surrounded by shrimp, clams and shrimp in a slightly spicy tomato based sauce. Absolutely delicious. 2 of the guys ordered the ribeye special, which I tasted, and it was excellent.
Prices were very reasonable. Entrees under $30, many under $20. Shareable appetizers around $15. The imported buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto and arugula on flatbread had 4 good-sized pieces. And it was exceptionally delicious.
Very impressed how quickly the food arrived for so many people!
We will definitely return next time we’re in the area.
Great local gem, food was fantastic, staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating.
Delicious dining experience. Wonderful service. Must visit
We were party of 9 they took reservation, and it was awesome - great menu, food, service, wine & cozy casual setting. highly recommend!!
