Our reservations are designed to give you the first available table at your booking time. Please keep in mind that we do not reserve specific tables, or areas of the restaurant. We maintain space for walk-ins, so if you’re having trouble finding a reservation, please stop by when you get to the neighborhood.
We serve traditional and contemporary Italian in one of Seattle’s oldest homes. Our menu changes daily and features handmade pastas, peasant braises and traditional veal, lamb, and seafood dishes. We offer vegetarian and gluten free options daily.
Our reservations are for 2-hour time slots. We do our best to accommodate as many guests as possible, so please be considerate of other diners when you are finished with your meal.
What Insiders Are Saying
San Fermo is a charming Italian restaurant in an old house where an indie rom-com would take place. Use it for a first date in Ballard.
The waitstaff (assigned to our table) was quite pushy, and seemed impatient about taking our order...
otherwise the place still remains a great local spot :)
We've been to San Fermo in the past and it was flawless. On our last visit we were entertaining my son from out of town. The food was excellent as always, but the service completely lacked the warmth it usually has. The order of food was rushed, our entrees arriving before salads were done. Wine order not being filled until entrees were half gone (and that was with an attempt to wait). Very very poor. They add a 20% service charge to the bill. I am in favor of that, but 20% is supposed to be for a service level above normal. This was well below. We'll likely return, but this definitely left a bad taste in our mouth. The gentleman at the table behind us, from the "industry" as we heard couldn't stop saying F-this and F-ing that throughout our meal. Really loud and annoying. Too bad for such a quaint little restaurant.
First time here for Restaurant Week, the rabbit, spaghetti bolognese and bruschetta was delicious, and their panna cotta was honestly the best one I have ever have in my life. Our waitress was very attentive and provided suggestions for our first time there and the overall restaurant gives off a homey feel. Will definitely be back!
Food quality was lower than we have experienced at least six times over past two years. Caesar salad was less tasty and pasta carbonara was gummy and too thick. Beverages and service was very good as usual.
Lovely service and ambiance. Some of the best Italian food in Seattle
Cozy place ! The variety in the menu is ok, I think it could have a few more entree options.
The food was very good.
The food was amazing! Small menu but they really focus on the quality. Very cozy and wonderful ambiance.
Discovered San Fermo through restaurant week, and I will happily return! The atmosphere and decor is modern yet cozy, and the open kitchen design allows an irresistible aroma of authentic Italian to waft through the restaurant. The menu is unique and often changing, ensuring fresh products and delightful dishes.
The host was prompt and very nice, the waitress did the bare minimum, not even close to the good enough to warrant the 20% surcharge. The panacotta was was astounding best dish wall night and my pasta was perfectly cooked! Another great choice for restaurant week
Restaurant is in a house which makes this place feel very homely. But the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. I guess because they change the menu daily I expected something REALLY good. Prices weren’t all that reasonable, I know the ingredients were high quality but the portions were small and $20 for a small plate of okay pasta just seemed a little excessive when the plating wasn’t all that amazing either.
Great service, amazing atmosphere and to-die-for pasta. Everything is delicious. Year-round outdoor seating can't be beat!
We went for Seattle Restaurant Werk. The food was delicious and the space was beautiful. All the serving staff was very helpful and attentive with good knowledge of the menu. We appreciated the wine recommendations from our server. We will definitely be back for the food and the atmosphere.
Waiter was wonderful, great wine pairing recommendations and didn't rush us. Food was as good as all reviews professed. This was our first time but definitely not our last! Thank you for doing your thing so well!
A wonderful experience all around. We will be sure to return again and again.
Very charming restaurant in Bellevue with really great Italian food. definitely will become one of my favorites!
I love this restaurant. The food is always amazing and the service is great. It is so cute and fun and I always have a great time.
Kitchen is small so expect to wait between courses. Food is very tasty!
Our meals weren't as great this evening as they have been in the past, but it's still a lovely place.
Our favorite restaurant in Ballard! It never disappoints!
Fantastic brunch on the patio!
This place is a little gem. The food is wonderful, the building itself is charming and the service is great.
Excellent service, beautiful building, the drinks are amazing, and the pasta is sensational.
Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. I am telling everyone I know to add it to their list of go to restaurants.
WE really like San Fermo, but the serving of Bolognese this time , and also the previous time we were there, was woefully petite. One of our servings of bread and butter this time, was too.
Very good service, and it wasn't too loud to enjoy our companions.
Awesome food. Fantastic service! Loved sitting outside.
We normally love this place and it is our first choice for a romantic evening out. The service was good and the atmosphere is excellent. Although, the food was off this evening. The pasta was OVER salted. We ordered another plate (risotto) and it was parsley with Risotto. This was our first bad experience and it wasn’t that bad because we still enjoyed ourselves. We will go back. Maybe they had a new chef that night.
San Fermo is amazing. Their dishes are inventive and at the same time homey, comfort food. I've never had a bad meal!
Our regular date night spot. Always something memorable on the menu.
We sat in the front dining room, where you feel a part of the kitchen. It's an amazing dining experience to see food being prepared and plated like this. The service was top notch, and the food even better.
The food was superb and the atmosphere and service was outstanding.
The only negative about our experience was a drunk man at a nearby table. Really loud, stupid and using the F-bomb every other word. The only thing we hold against the restaurant is that they should have cut him off much earlier, and asked him to pipe down. Otherwise, cute little place, great service, good food.
The only complains I have are about food. The appetizer was good - we ordered Farinata. The main course was very bad. I had risotto which had over cooked rice and too much garlic. The only flavor I could fell was garlic. My husband had pasta. Pasta was over cooked and the souse was at the bottom of the plate as a broth which was not nice. Overall for Italian restaurant serving over cooked pasta and risotto I believe is very bad sign.
Thank you for a wonderful meal, hopefully I’ll be back much more often!
Great food and definitely a gem of strong Italian food using local fare in a great Seattle neighborhood. Some aspects of the ambience (music) was a little distracting from the atmosphere and overall experience, but overall a great experience!
Service was terribly lacking. We ordered salads and they brought them out quickly, then we waited about 45 minutes for our entrees. At what is supposed to be an upscale dining restaurant, you would think they would have figured out pacing. There was also no server presence. They did not check on you, ask you if you need anything, or even update you as to the length of time your food was taking. Truly disappointing and I will not return based on the poor service.
Nice restaurant , amazing food . Very nice atmosphere.
My wife and I went for our anniversary last week. Inside the house is tight quarters, but very fun, and all of the staff were great. It was hard to hold a conversation, as there were a lot of people around us and sound echoes there. The food was disappointing - I had jufki with a pork sauce and wife had polenta with prosciutto. Since jufki and polenta are easy and cheap dishes, I expected the meat to be the selling point. Instead, it was the worst part. For the price point, not worth it at all. The rest was good, and otherwise we had a great time.
Great place, beautiful setting, wonderful staff every time!
Excellent restaurant! Feels like you are eating a home cooked Italian meal in a cozy home
A very cute space for a restaurant. The food was fine, but the service was not very friendly or attentive.
