The restaurant is beautiful and has a cool ambience. The owner was actually on site and was very friendly and courteous, even opening the front door for us and finding our reservation. BUT, I will say, it’s probably not the best idea to go near closing. We had a 9:45 reservation (the restaurant closes at 11) and it just seemed dead...it wasn’t as “lively” as I expected and we were tucked next to a loud group of ladies, who were laughing and talking loudly throughout our dinner date. (There were other tables, but I guess because of the time, we were seated right next to them) Our waitress also disappeared for over 20 mins, while the women next to us were visited multiple times and received “free shots”, while we weren’t offered anything. The food was amazing, portions were good, and the drinks were strong. I just think we went on the wrong night, at the wrong time. Seeing that it’s in our neighborhood, we’re willing to give it a second chance! :)
Brain is awesome great server good taste too will come again
Very good food and service. I would avoid the specialty drinks, as they were clawingly sweet.
Samui falsely advertised as being a participant in #EatThaiVisitThai Restaurant Week yet did not honor the special price advertised on open table. After getting mixed messages from 3 waitstaff, I asked for management. Upon speaking to management and explaining how far my group drive to try this experience, she said she'd discuss with the owner. the owner began to lie to us stating and retracting a couple comments. I mentioned writing a review on my experience and the owner accused us of blackmailing them for a discount. Appalled, we just left. I do not recommend this place nor will I ever visit. Their business accumen is disgusting!
Samui is an absolutely stunning restaurant. The decor and exceptional service make for a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend the cocktails as well!
Classy restaurant with amazing decor but service is slow with just two people on staff that evening.
The drinks were great. The food was horrible. Calamari that had been re-nuked from the day before had the texture of rubber bands. The entree was tasteless. Key Lime tart was edible. I'll never go back--EVER!
The best place to try a different type of food. The waitress was super nice explaining all the dishes. I'm definitely coming back ! The place is beautiful!
Samui is one of my favorite restaurants. Such a beautiful environment and decor.
Love this place, always good food, drinks, service and beautiful decor
The ambiance was terrific, great service and delicious food and drinks. Looking forward to to be back.
Devastatingly disappointing. Reserved a table for our anniversary at 8:30pm on a Friday night. Arrived bang on time. Gruffly seated and then ignored by every server, employee, and I believe, even the owner. Of course I cannot confirm - after 15 minutes of complete invisibility, we decided to depart and divert to a most enjoyable experience a short walk away at Gentleman Farmer.
This restaurant is such a good place, I just love it..
There was no hostess to greet us when we got there. There was a crowd of confusion with the customers in the waiting area. The owner finally came to sit us for our reservation at 8pm (and the lights in the restaurant were turned on as if it were 12pm and sunny) and she just took menus to a table never telling us to follow her. We sat down, there were no servers walking around, we sat at the table for 10minutes without even our drink order being taken. We decided to leave before any more disappointment. I will not return & I would not recommend!
Great food but on the expensive side. $34 for pineapple fried rice with a few pieces of fried duck.
love the décor. Service started out very slow and after I let them know, the service was much better.
Branzino with Panang curry. Crab fried rice. Clay pot noodles with shrimp. Duck plate. All really good. Delicious meal. Very very happy!
Nice ambiance, but the food was unfortunately very poor. Nothing tasted fresh, it all tasted like everything had been either frozen or sitting around for days. We had fired fish, the fish smelt old and had the consistency of being fried hours earlier - it was soggy not crispy. For the prices they are asking they need to get their food or chef together or they won't last long.
Great Ambience, with a greater service.. food taste is good very authentic Thai
Great atmosphere and vibe. Food was delicious. Drinks were great - a little pricey, but worth it.
Samui was a great find! It's in an up and coming location which makes sense as to why not many people have seen it but it's well worth it. Great food, drinks and table service. I highly recommend.
Absolutely fabulous atmosphere followed by great service, music and decor. I am definitely coming back!
Such a cute spot! Decor is fab, super trendy and picturesque. Great for groups, dates, girls night... don't let the strange location fool you -- there are lots of bars nearby. Great variety of creative cocktails, and yummy shareable plates. The service wasn't great nor attentive, but it was a slightly busy night so I can overlook it. Had to flag down a server more than once. Otherwise fun spot!
The overall decor is beautiful. The entire staff were extremely professional, kind and helpful with food amd drink selections. It was our first time but definitely not our last. Wish there were midweek specials/ happy hour.
This is my second time and it didn't fall short. The host was nice as well as our servers. The food was tasty and the overall ambiance was beautiful. Would recommend to anyone.
The food was great, very tasty and the ambiance was just right. There was no long wait for food and the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Will return again.
The food is average but the service is horrible.
The restaurant is extremely understaffed. We waited for 30 min for someone to take our orders. Than appetizers arrived before the drinks. (It also took over 30min to get the appetizers.)
Staff is friendly but they simply can operate efficiently which I think is the managements fault. Anyways never going back,
The food is tooo pricey for the amount u get.
The waiters kept bringing other people’s food to us which didn’t look so organized.
The drinks are expensive asf!
The ambience is beautiful ( what I actually think you’re paying for because everything else was mediocre to me)
Will more quickly send someone to Sea in Williamsburg than to this place.
Second time visiting the restaurant and this time was just as amazing as the first. Service with waitress seemed a little off at first, but it’s a Friday night and everyone was enjoying the vibe so I won’t complain. The food is authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The drink was fully quenching and the decor is just priceless. Just what I needed after a long week!!
Nice venue, but there was a huge party going on at the same time and it was very loud.
Great for date nights. Huge venue place. Would love to throw a large group party.
It was great we were always checked on food came out quickly and tasted delicious
TERRIBLE. Don’t waste your time or money. Worst dining experience in years.
Had gentleman with 3 screaming little kids seated behind me when place was empty lol...otherwise it was ok.
The food is delicious and the presentation is REALLY fantastic. Presents like a fancy restaurant but has extremely reasonable prices. Also the ambiance is beautiful. Makes for a great date spot!
On my birthday I attended Samui the food was great atmosphere great but the staff and customer service was extremely poor.
On my birthday I didn’t feel like hosts or waiters were attentive and when my boyfriend ordered me a birthday special cake it was done half assed lack of effort .
I honestly wouldn’t recommend anyone to celebrate their birthday here . However, takeout would be a better option.
Food was affordable and again the decor is beautiful, need new staff.
My boyfriend and I went to Samui after seeing the restaurant on the Netflix TV show, Dating Around. We loved the food, ambiance and service. This is the best date spot or simply a great place for dining with friends. The drinks are really tasty. We ordered the mojito and the margarita. Additionally, we ordered one of the carafe's of sake. The sake choices are awesome. Lastly, the food was incredible. We ordered the coconut shrimp, dumplings, wings, duck pad thai and fried ice cream. All of our food choices were absolutely amazing. I will be dining at Samui again in the future!
Great food, pricy - but great Salmon and drunken noodles!
We chose to eat at SAMUI because we saw the restaurant advertised in the Netflix show “Dating Around.” We trekked all the way from the South Bronx, across the borough of Queens and into Brooklyn just for this experience to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food was amazing! We ordered too much because the portions were decently sized so we had leftovers to bring home. The cocktails were flavorful but the ones we chose were VERY sweet. I’m sure we could have asked for them to modify the sweetness as they seemed to be very accommodating. They allowed us to change our table halfway through our meal to a more comfortable seating area, they brought our food out in a very timely manner, and they have us a free dessert with one of those big bright “don’t blow this out because it will go out by itself” type candles- the name of which is escaping me. At the end of our meal after we paid our bill, the hostess/possible owner, “A” I think she said her name was, offered is another round of drinks on the house, which we gladly accepted. I had another glass of Prosecco and hubby had a glass of Lambrusco. All in all we had an awesome experience. The only thing is that it took us a half hour to get there and parking is tough. I would definitely go back with a group of friends. Great vibe. DJ playing cool music, trendy atmosphere and excellent design aesthetic. 10s, 10s, 10s across the board for SAMUI!
We really enjoyed the food and ambiance. I just thought our meal was pricey for what we ordered.
Happy to have found this place! The food was wonderful, light + tasty. Everything was fresh and delicious!
