Our last visit to this place was a joke...it deserved to be closed.

Rude and sloppily dressed servers complaining about guests, drinking at bar, manager dressed like a garage mechanic, long wait for undercooked shrimp and overcooked steaks, cold temps, etc etc.

The greeter and bartender were the only employees who still cared...I hope they find a better place to work. The rest of you should go apply at McDonalds....and hopefully not the one I visit on occasion!

Sammie—stick with the sports bar concept you are out of your league with high end dining.

Went to Sammy's on the recommendation of a friend and were disappointed in the final result. First, the restaurant was freezing cold and we were told it was due to them needing to keep it overly cool to avoid moisture on the floor. Understandable but uncomfortable. Next, our server was horrible. The list of her poor attitude and service are too numerous to list. She was not friendly or nor concerned about serving us in a manner expected when spending $100 per person on dinner. She never spoke or checked on us once we finally had food. Kitchen took way too long to prepare the food and it wasn't even that crowded. Overall our food was okay but the ambiance and service was horrible and to boot the restrooms were out of order. I'd spend my time and money elsewhere

The food was very nice and service was pretty good. We had a nice table by the fireplace. It’s a nice place to go if you want to have a dinner conversation without shouting over music.

Our first experience at Sammy’s about a year ago was unremarkable. We decided to try them again and were amazed! The atmosphere is very quiet and romantic. The service was polished and unobtrusive. Our meals were cooked perfectly and tastefully presented. The manager stopped by twice to check on us. Great location nearby the Regal Theater for a perfect date night. We’ll be back soon.

Sammys is a very good place to get a nice steak in a not too fancy atmosphere in Katy area. Prices are reasonable. The brussel sprouts are a little bland on the taste meter compared to other places. We had an enjoyable dinner and would recommend.

My wife & I decided to try the steakhouse for our 16th wedding anniversary. We did some pre-visit research as to what the house specialties were, previous customer reviews, etc so that we could get a feel for what was good and/or enjoyed. We loved the intimate setting. We loved the menu choices & drink selection. The food (for the most part) was very tasteful and came out in a timely manner & was cooked just like we love it. The one complaint was that for a "premium" or "prime cut" choice of steak, it was rather tough, stringy and had lots of gristle & tendons. It was something that we would not expect from a "prime cut" $50 steak selection. Frankly, it wasn't any better cut than something you'd get at a much cheaper chain steakhouse such as Outback, Saltgrass, etc. It was rather disappointing. However everything else was very delicious & enjoyable & our server Howard was top-notch amazing! We would go back again for another try, but I think we'd have to steer clear of the NY Strip steak. Far too disappointed in the cut for the price, and it's concerning since this *is* a premium steakhouse.

The food was good but the service was lacking. Ordered 2 steaks and both tasted wonderful but hers was under cooked severely and mine was a bit overcooked. Staff can be a bit more attentive to detail. Manager definitely took care of us. We will try again.

The food was excellent but the service was a little off this time. Seemed like they were short staffed, but it was a Monday and were not expecting it to be as busy??? We ordered apps, salad and entrees. Steak was cooked well.. would definitely go back. I heard brunch is amazing.

Crab cakes did not have hardly any crab in it--all breading. The lobster mac and cheese had almost no lobster in it. The steaks were excellent. Asked for salt, did not get it. Asked for a second glass of wine, and did not get it. Asked for dessert menu, and did not get it. The people next to us asked for butter and did not get it. For the price, a horrible value. Expensive restaurants need to have great service. Will not return.

My husband and I enjoy fine dining and were excited to try your restaurant. However, when we came in for brunch we were disappointed. We were one of two tables and I thought it strange that the meal came out one plate at a time. I was halfway done with my crab benedict.
( poached egg was overcooked) when rosemary potatoes came out, waited longer for ketchup. I had to ask for refills on my coffee, I was never offered another glass of champagne, and my husband sat with an empty water glass for too long before it was refilled. The bathroom was dirty and no hand towels. I found it disrespectful mgr. kept calling me "Hun". The waitress was dour and not very engaging. Not a very good experience. Definitely not a "fine dining" experience.

Food was kind of hit or miss. The crab cake was a little too cakey and slightly dry. The shrimp cocktail was good, but one of the shrimp was of poor quality and not edible. My wife loved her Seafood Risotto.

My husband and I loved the service, it was 5 star all the way. All the staff were attentive without being intrusive. So much attention to detail. The fireplace and music are so cozy and romantic, definitely could've danced to that Fred Astaire music if we hadn't been enjoying our conversation so much. The food was amazing!! I would love to hear a better range of music styles, that is my only minor suggestion. Crab cake and mushroom soup are a must! We will have to go back to try everything on the menu. This will be my Birthday dinner spot! We love the fact that such a high class dining experience is so close to home and the prices were what you'd expect for the quality of food, service and ambience.

Second time to Sammy's and for a suburban steakhouse it is remarkably good. We had an outstanding dinner of filet, mac n' cheese, and roasted Brussel spouts. All were just perfect.
Wait staff were very friendly and the manager attentive. We will definitely go back.
Pricing is like downtown steakhouses so a filet 10 oz is $46. Menu items start in mid to upper $20's and all sides are like $10-$12.
However, food and service were fantastic. Nice environment and setting

We were celebrating two birthdays and we had a party of 8. Becca, our wait staff, was EXCELLENT! She was helpful, organized and had a great sense of humor that we greatly appreciated. The manager came over several times to check how we were enjoying the meal and we felt very important and special. We had the Houston Food Bank Specials which were delicious and priced just right. We will definitely go back for a fourth time in one year.

We were a divided table. My husband said his food was very good. Mine was not. The soup was incredibly salty. I got the quail with some sort of corn thing, and it was only ordinary. The corn dish was bland, and the quail was supposed to have a bbq rub, but did not have any of that flavor. It was our food server's first night, so any hiccups could be excused.

Surf and Turf Taretare was a little too spicy and salty for me. Truffle fries were amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection. Scallops were slightly overcooked. Tom Collins was perfect, and the carrot cake bread pudding was a nice conclusion. Molly and Beckah took care of us, their service made the experience amazing.

The food was excellent, the service was less than stellar but it was not lack of an attentive server. Our starters came out before or cocktails and this is big deal for me. They seem to have eased up on the salt, making the dishes as close to perfect as I have seen from this establishment.
Fix your service
Don't bring starters out before the cocktails are out.
Being attentive is not enough, manage the dining experience.

I wasn't so sure about this place, considering the slightly higher price and typical low quality of restaurants in the Richmond TX area. However, I would put this restaurant up against the best trendy places in Houston and possibly even New York. Apparently the owner and chef was also a winner on Hell's Kitchen...it definitely shows.

Our server seemed to be out of it - she wasn't very outgoing nor did she smile ever. The restaurant was really warm and we overheard another server saying there was a problem with their A/C so I'm going to assume that was just a temporary thing. Other than that it was a very nice anniversary dinner.

We've been to Sammy's several times. The food is always excellent. Well prepared and wonderfully presented. However, the service has just been weak the last couple of times. Very slow to get our drinks and slow to be served our food. Seems like there is plenty of help...and not many patrons, so we're not sure what has happened. It was disruptive last night.....some man who looked like he was in charge kept walking briskly back and forth from the kitchen to the bar area several times. In jeans and keys on the belt....not sure what he was doing, but very distracting to the meal and the waitresses.

Food was pretty good. I enjoyed the lamb chops but my date did not care for the scallops. The place has potential, but the evening we went to the restaurant the air conditioning was not functioning properly. Way to warm to enjoy the meal and ambiance. In many respects, it soured the evening and our view of the place. Even after speaking with staff, no offers of discount at a 2nd visit or for the inconvenience of dining in those conditions.

Visited Sammy's as part of Houston restaurant Weeks, very nice surprise. The value for $35 was exceptional, food was good and service very attentive. Only complaint (and reason for 4 overall rating) was the temperature in the restaurant, slightly warm, could have piped a little more AC in. I am not a fan of the overly cold restaurants that seem to be the norm these days, but Sammy's was a bit warm for our entire group, has to be something in the middle somewhere.
