The Pappardella was excellent while the trout was nothing special (no sauce, no almonds, not even butter on the fish). We arrived at 6:00 on a Friday night and had the place to ourselves until 7:00. Parking out back was easy. For the price, we would expect more.

although we had not been back at this establishment for some time, our previous visits were pretty good. this time my wife and I both felt it was overpriced for a BYOB. the portions were small, and the food was good, not to die for. the menu is limited, and pricing was high for this type of restaurant. We will not be going back.

My husband had the salmon and Sami prepared the scallop appetizer as an entree for me. Both were delicious. We never had a bad meal there.

Didn't deliver our order together or as described. Long wait. Disorganized. Food ok but not worth the hassle of everything else. I won't return

We love BYO restaurants and try to dine at a new one once a month. Sami's was our next stop on the BYOB list. It is a fairly new restaurant, open about a year. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was cordial, engaging in a quick conversation about wines , as he opened and poured our wine. To start, we split a wedge salad with bacon, blue cheese and cherry tomatoes. The salad with bleu cheese dressing was tasty and fresh but the tomatoes were not cherry tomatoes, instead pale slices of a seemingly hot house variety. Our grilled octopus, while seasoned nicely, was not baby octopus but instead large tentacles which were quite chewy. My entree of rainbow trout stuffed with crab meat and spinach was cooked to perfection and presented nicely. I made the mistake of not inquiring about the sides that came with the dish. A nice plate of potato wedges came out, but I was not able to eat them. The server and chef were very accommodating and swapped out the potato for grilled eggplant. The second entree was the cavatelli with lamb ragu, a nice choice if you like homemade pasta. Sami's pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and the ragu was hearty and flavorful. We finished our meal with coffees and a dessert. My only recommendation to the server is to canvass the tables and replenish the wine for the patrons. It is a nice touch for a BYO and greatly appreciated by the guests.

We have been to Sami's often since it opened about a year ago and each time is a pleasure. From the attentive staff through the enticing menu to the delicious meals made with great care by Sami and his chef, the time spent there is well worth the visit. Go by yourself or bring friends and relatives, the result will be the same: excellent food prepared by a devoted host.

My husband and I decided last minute to go out for dinner on Christmas Day. We went onto Open Table to check out available restaurants and we came upon Sami's Land & Sea. We could not have been treated better by the staff who were so accommodating and charming. In fact, the chef/owner came out of the kitchen to welcome us as first time customers. He apologized because one of the items on the menu was not available, the reason being that they did not receive a delivery on the holiday and everything is made fresh. The restaurant is really pretty and quaint and the food so delicious. The portions are large and we had a wonderful experience all around. Cannot wait to go back.

My husband and I dined on Christmas Eve. They regular menu was presented as well as several excellent specials. The service was great and the food incredible. You can tell Sami has a passion for cooking and it clearly shows in his dishes. We each enjoyed an appetizer, salad, entree and shared a dessert. We left full, satisfied and without an empty wallet. We would have paid double in NYC what was prepared for us here in Berkeley Heights. Because the kitchen is open, and the dining area small, it did get very hot inside, but it was a small price to pay for the meal. Finally, the location is a BYOB which is a great added benefit.
