Samba - Montclair

This was a great spot for a later dinner, very cozy like you’re in the jungle with all the plants there. Great atmosphere very friendly and attentive staff. I would highly recommend

One of the best restaurants I have been to in Montclair!! Amazing atmosphere, great service and absolutely delicious food! My husband and I had a table in a private little corner and it was a very romantic perfect evening. I will be back!!!!

Cute ambiance. There was a musician playing that night and it was very romantic. The food is good and decent price. Great date spot. Do bring your own wine.

Me and my friend were so excited to try this restaurant. However, we ended up being disappointed. The service was poor. We asked to take the food home and the waitress gave us the boxes and let us do it. I think this is unacceptable at any restaurant, also I had ordered gnocchi so it had liquid and I could have made a mess because there is not much room. We had to ask twice for the dessert menu because none would bring it to us. The waitresses started to clean the restaurant while we were eating (it was 9:20pm) and made us seem they wanted to kick us out. The guy was literally waiting with the broom right behind my friend. Overall, I do not think we are coming back. I am sad because I have seen all the nice reviews and we did not have a good experience. The food was good.

I have been frequenting samba for almost a decade since they opened.

I can honestly say I have never had a bad dish and never had bad service.

This is genuinely one of my favorite restaurants.

Plus the BYOB is a nice perk.

Somewhere that feels like you went somewhere with eye-catching decor and Brazilian food menu appealing to all. Custom-made fruit drinks (that, if desired, you can BYOB to add to) were delicious and felt bright and exotic on a cold and rainy day. Food was also delicious! -- We only wish that we had known about the dessert menu ahead of time so we could have saved some room for it. We were able to talk and hear one another but still feel energy of other diners. Felt COVID-safe re: space between tables and kind, friendly, mask-wearing and professional servers. Will definitely return and would recommend to others.

The food was at best. Average. Service was average and the quality of the food certainly did not warrant such high prices. When we go out for dinner, we are looking to escape the stresses of living in a divided world. Therefore we do not want to see peoples beliefs displayed on the back of the employees tee shirts.
We will not be returning!

Best Gluten free restaurant I’ve found in NY metro NJ. Not sure if “holiday” menu prices will persist into new year but generally higher than expected

It was an awesome experience, at the restaurant. Food that we ate was really great and the drink was sub par. could have been better. Only surprise was they add 20% service charge which I was not aware of and food was bit on pricey side.

Also, portion of vegetables on plate was terribly small. Ambience & service is good. But overall, a poor value. We would not go again.

We went for NYE. All safety precautions made us feel comfortable. I am pregnant and the coconut lemonade was delicious and made me feel like I had a cocktail :). Food was amazing and I highly recommend getting dessert!

Food was good but service was poor. We sat down and when our party arrived we were ignored for a long while and then felt rushed as soon as our waiter came to the table. We were not greeted or anything, he just came up and said “do we all know what we want?”. We did, so we ordered and from that moment on we were rushed. They gave us our check before we even all got our dessert and coffee and they awkwardly stood there while we enjoyed our dessert and coffee. When we got up and left I turned around and saw them just stare at us with their hands on their hips. Felt very unwelcoming.

We had a wonderful time at Samba. The ethics are warm and inviting. The food was delicious. It is our favorite restaurant to celebrate all of our special moments, or to have an evening out to dinner. We always look forward to coming back.

We went to Samba to have my parents experience Brazilian food since my husband is from Brazil. Overall it was ok. Appetizers were dry, entrees were very salty and some lacked flavor. Desserts were both very good. Ambiance is nice, the live music was great. Service was attentive as well, minus the constant reminder that we only have the table for two hours, which we only stayed for 1.5 hours. It was just awkward since we already agreed to 2 hours before making the reservation, as well as reminded again when we first sat down.

I went here for my birthday with my family. The food was delicious. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The ambience was lovely! Would definitely be dining here again.

My wife and I went for a much deserved evening escape and it seems we could not have chosen a better spot than Samba.
The decor is very creative and quaint, the staff was friendly (to us) and the food and the presentation was spectacular.
We started with the bolinho de feijoada which were delightful. My wife had the skirt steak which was just right and I had the pork chops which were amazingly juicy and tasteful and included the side of fried bananas with a powdery topping, which gave them a unique flavor. For dessert we shared the bolo de mandioca which was heavenly.
The only unfortunate incident was a waiter which was terribly rude to the two gentlemen in the adjoining table. All they did was request a menu and this triggered a completely uncalled for response where the waiter was beyond rude telling them they had to use the QR code (although printed menus were readily available). Despite the rudeness, the customers kept their composure and left the restaurant. Although it upset an otherwise perfect experience, Samba is a true gem and we look forward to returning with friends.
