Our friends (who drove in from Plymouth, MN) were notably impressed with the attentive service and ambiance. My wife and I would add that the food (I enjoyed the generous and spicy lamb special) were my wife and my high points as well.
Salut on Grand is still my favorite place to go, and has been for many years. I love how they manage to hold on to really good employees for many years, it shows in the great service you get there.
My kale salad was quite tasteless despite the addition of "sweet walnut" beet and feta cheese, as advertised. It sounded like and appeared as if it would have wonderful flavor, so what a surprise once I took a bite. It seriously had almost no flavor, it was so uninteresting, with little flavor of any of the ingredients at all. I couldn't believe it didn't taste like anything. I didn't finish it. My boyfriend and his brother ordered the same item for their dinner, which was one of the specials that night. Lamb. It was very spicy once they tasted it, and they were not forewarned about that on the menu nor by the server. My boyfriend just pushed his food around the plate. Too spicy to eat, but he forced some of it down. He commented that there was barely any lamb itself in the dish, and the appearance of the plate resembled a bowl of mush. He never criticizes anything but that's what he said to me. The lamb, all cubed up and tossed in with the rice, rather than being served cleanly, next to it on a plate was a bad presentation for a featured special. His brother didn't mind the spice as much as my boyfriend, but he said his meal tasted fair at best. We felt the price was very expensive for a meal none of us was at all happy with. 3 people, $177 which did include 4 drinks and our generous 20% tip despite the food experience. Very disappointed, as we enjoy the other location at Edina and have been there many times.
Our waitress was so nice, knowledgeable and funny! She added a fun experience to a wonderful brunch!
Always a great choice in the Crocus Hill neighborhood. The large menu has something for everyone, from burgers to salads to steaks. The service is always good, and the ambience is wonderful. Can't wait for warmer weather and the patio!
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had the kale and quinoa salad which had tasty elements but I would have plated them differently. The baby kale with the stems were sometimes awkward to eat without cutting. I would have preferred having the quinoa served on the side. Their flavor and crunch got lost when they were mixed with the greens.
I would perhaps select a different salad next time.
Always enjoy a meal at Salut. A surprise this time was that they charge for their excellent bread now. I'm ok with that. But when asked, our waiter brought a small portion - not the full mini-baguette of the past. "Charge ok; but then bring a full serving!" my lunch companion cried.
We have been coming here since the first night they opened in St. Paul. I think we have had 1 meal here that wasn’t consistently great. Service is always great and I know that if we go for dinner we will be very pleased with our meal and our choices. It is nice to have a neighborhood restaurant that is an easy choice.
Sat in the bar. Onion soup was better than I had in Paris!
got there in time for their happy hour which is very good so yeah for that. good service as always.
I'm stuck on the short rib pappardelle... it's awesome. Get the large and you'll have yummy leftovers for lunch the next day.
The atmosphere is lively and food is goo, but I think priced too high.
I love this restaurant. I’m French and it’s nice to have similar dishes growing up with or similar taste. The food is great and the ambiance is good. I’ve celebrated or had a lot of dinner dates with my husband or brunch with girlfriends and it’s always been a favorite of mine.
Steak is always cooked to order and done perfectly!
Service was horrible...................hamburgers well done not medium
While the ambiance is lovely, the food is overpriced and mediocre. The service is just so-so. So many great restaurants to try out there. Will enjoy summer patio for happy hour.
Definitely overpriced relative to value but it was a great experience overall.
The food was very good, but our waitress was only fair. Unfortunately we were seated near the kitchen/prep area where there was a lot of traffic and commotion. I have been to Salut before and even tho it was very busy, the service was much better. I plan to dine at Salut again despite this less than stellar visit.
Very disappointing for the second time. Service was non existent food was sub par. I had the worst Cesar salad I have ever had. The lettuce was brown and I have had better salad dressing at Perkins. I am assuming we got poor service, bad food, and a Horrible table in the back room because it was Valentines Day. This restaurant used to be one of our favorites.
Our second visit and equal in quality to the first. Food was very good although my apple pastry dessert was NOT. Service is exceptional; our server was knowledgeable and when she couldn't answer a question, she found someone who could. The bar is great, stylish and staffed by excellent bartenders. We made the mistake of ordering rail drinks and were disappointed in the quality of their house gin. Our bad. The martinis we usually order are well made but the generic ones are mediocre at best. Still one of our favorite places to eat and have a drink.
The staff was friendly and very hospitable. Server was very efficient and attentive and checked with us appropriately. Dinner was wonderful. All around great experience.
My first experience with Salut was amazing! A girlfriend and I celebrated Galentine’s Day with amazing food, great wine and exceptional service. I can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant. I’ll definitely be back again and again.
Great server. Great recommendations and very attentive. Sorry I cannot remember his name to give a shout out.
We had a super waitress who took great care of us!! Jena made sure we all were happy with our meals and things she had suggested. Very attentive -- to just the right degree. Thanks.
Great food, a warm ambiance and terrific service by Jenn. Thanks!
Multiple selections of house wines. Very nice.
Able to accommodate gluten and vegan requests with good food.
Liked the options of portion size half or full.
Great Happy Hour options. Great food, great service. Lively atmosphere. Always a good experience.
Enjoyed a wonderful pre concert meal. The chicken special was fantastic. Our server was very informative, and provided fantastic service. We will be back! Thank you!!
Crazy busy on a Friday, good thing they take reservations, even at 5:15! Seated right away, good server, interesting cocktail, nibble bits and wide selection of entree to suit every type of diner.
Good food, attentive, but not annoying servers. The host was kind to allow us to switch from a table where neighboring guests were barely two feet away, to a booth. Their happy hour menu is delicious and well-priced. I've had the shrimp po' boy twice now and it was delicious both times.
A nice place to have a conversation with a friend. Food was awesome!
Fabulous lunch and service great - Kyle was our server and was very attentive
We ordered dessert that was amazing!
Great food/breakfast with a French touch. Expected more selections though.
Salut is my fav! It’s my choice for my birthday celebration every year for the last decade! The Pomme Frites are to die for...and I dream of that Crab Cake Oscar regularly. Our server, Kyle, was super busy on a Friday night but still took the time to make my day special. Every time I come in Salut gets better and better. See you again soon for patio season!
Great service and food.
Food and drinks were awesome. Service attentive, but not rushed.
We try to stop here whenever we are in the Twin Cities. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Can't ask for more!
Food was delicious as always. However, was disappointed that they now charge for bread. Would recommend the seafood oscar crêpes, creamy hash, and cappuccinos. The bread is worth paying for (the whipped butter is great), but it was definitely better when it was gratuit.
