At last! A place where a vegetarian can enjoy a "real" entrée rather than be limited to some variation of greens and raw vegetables. And while being surrounded by lovely ambiance and music that so wonderfully "musical" rather than the pounding beat-beat-beat at so many restaurants. Well don!
Salut Bar Americain is my go-to place for a all that is the best when dining with friends! THANK YOU!
Really love this place. Excellent menu--great food and wonderful service. It is a real neighborhood gem. But I drive all the way from Eden Prairie to enjoy this restaurant.
Salut is always a solid choice. The food is good, service is nice and professional and atmosphere is classic.
Very nice place, wait staff very friendly, food was good
My daughter and her wedding party and I went here after picking out their bridesmaid dresses. It was such a lovely place to celebrate! The mimosas were perfect, not too sweet, and the hash was delicious! Our waitress and the rest of the serving staff were friendly and prompt, it really added to a special day!
Soups were terrible, service was slow despite no customers in the restaurant. Prices much too high for food quality.
Salut has a really nice formula. We go there a lot and enjoy the quality of the food at the pricepoint. The steak frites is always on point. Their oysters are really good. The Mother's Day brunch is AMAZING. Service is generally really good. Their wine is a good value. We will be back many times!
Comfortable atmosphere. Good food at a decent price. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff
Nicest and most attentive wait staff! Always a great idea to go to Salut on Grand!
My favorite place for lunch when I am entertaining for a business or personal occasion.
The oysters were so good we ordered seconds. We had a steak with fries and it was outstanding. The bean side dish was great. We had a wonderful bottle of wine and throughly enjoyed our evening. Highly recommend!
Had a chicken entree that was rather dry and tasteless. Very disappointed. Daughter had mussels and loved them. I may stick to an appetizer next time.
Service was great and daughter received a complimentary birthday dessert. She loves their Creme Brule!
Great food and very attentive staff and management making sure all was taken care of properly.
Rebecca is an amazing server !
My family loves Salut. We go at least once or twice a month. The food is consistently good, and service is great. Today I had the soup of the day (vegetable and corn) which was delicious! It was a great meal, as always.
Waitress was terrible. She gave incorrect information about the omelet of the day which had to be remade, she brought a side of jam to the table that was never requested, it took her 20 minutes to bring the check & another 15 minutes to come back and collect payment.... Horrible service!
Superb service, unique touch to menu items that made them delicious!
Every entrée that we had was very good. The portions were the right size, and service was attentive. the desserts took a bit longer to come to the table than expected.
Had not been here before, and we were very pleasantly surprised.
We arrived early enough to get some happy hour specials, and the tab was also very reasonable.
Very good pizza, beet salad, and meatballs. Also a pork schnitzel special that was delicious.
We will be back.
I have been going to Salut regularly since they opened. This was my first disappointing dinner. The waiter was unfriendly, unhelpful and didn’t know the menu. When asked about the oysters he said they had east coast and west coast but couldn’t/wouldn’t elaborate. He dumped food on the table, I ended up making room for the oysters as he set them down and said here and walked away. When asked about the specials he pointed at a booklet and said they were in the booklet. The menu was uninspired and apparently calling potatoes frites made the dinner French inspired. The pasta had no flavor, the short ribs were tender but bland. The crab cake was good (though had a few bits of shell) but the asparagus was woody and dry.
The best part was the Halloween candy they had. We grabbed a couple of packets of m&ms on the way out and had those for dessert when we got home
The bathroom was a mess, stalls didn’t have toilet paper and toilet paper pieces littered the floor.
Apparently the St. Paul location was sold and has a new general manager. The only person who seemed to have their act together was the hostess. I used to rave and recommend this place as one of the best places to go. It will take a lot to convince me to go back. It’s heartbreaking to see one of your favorites become so disappointing.
Busy but was great to get a table on a short notice! We love the fries!
Our server, Rebecca, was absolutely delightful. Not overly attentive or hovering about the table, but quick to meet our needs and with good humor. I love the Burger Bar Americain and fries, but there are many other menu items I've had and always enjoyed. I know I'll have a good meal in a good atmosphere at Salut.
We were a table of 4 people who hadn't seen each other in a long time, which was a good thing because the service was very slow. the food was adequate. We have been to Salut many times before and have had really great service and food which is why we keep coming back. must have been an off night.
Great food, fun, pleasant atmosphere. Server was somewhat gruff.
We were there on a busy Saturday evening. Food was very good and dependable as usual, except they were already out of one of the specials by 6:30. Server was a bit overstretched. He never even had time to come back and ask us how our meal was.
We love the food, drinks, and atmosphere! Our server though kept forgetting different drinks and food, overall they were fine but not the normal quality of service we get from this restaurant.
Excellent food and service. We had a comfortable booth, with tasty food and drink.
we asked to be seated in a quiet area for the restaurant and was happily accommodated.
What a great place for a lunch rendezvous with out of town friends! The waiter, Kyle, was just amazing; attentive, charming and humorous! The food was good quality as well as our French 75 cocktails. Very friendly staff overall.
Some of the best fries around, and good HH deals!
My husband’s birthday and we enjoyed dinner with friends. Only complaint was that staff and guests kept running into his chair. We obviously had a reservation, so a booth or less busy spot was expected (though not asked for, our bad).
The food was good however the service was slow. They were busy but we waited about 20 minutes for our entree.
We came for Restaurant Week and really enjoyed the meal. My one disapointment was the staff rushed the entree to the table before clearing our appetizer plates. We saw this happen to the table next to us so I know it was not just a one time circumstance. I can imagine that the kitchen was very busy and the staff maybe was overwhelmed on a Friday night.
Besides that minor inconvenience, the food was great and the ambiance was enjoyable. Thank you!
About a year ago I think I complained that the Cob Salad was not as big as it used to be. Now, it’s not only smaller, but on a smaller plate too. Instead of three halves of hard boiled egg, you get one half.
Nice lunch for friends, family and business colleagues. Great service, selection and environment. Soup and Salad duo was perfect. Will be back.
A very 'off' day. Waited 20 minutes to order cocktail, told ingredients were 86d, then bartender visited and said you did have ingredients. Cocktails were not the usual taste/recipe, however. New bartender. Very poor server. We were switched to another in the middle of service and were glad. Also, not the best food day. Server said next time we were in she'd but us dessert, however, that is not a remedy.
All this was a very unusual departure from our normal experiences. We left pretty down.
Great burger. Worst French I’ve had in long time: limp, clumped together , unseasoned

I love the food, service and ambience of Salut. The only thing I would change is that the noise level makes it difficult to have a conversation, which is the whole point of joining someone for dinner.
Asked the server, then the food runner, then the manager to turn down the lights since we were seated under what seemed like a flood light that was far too bright. There were lots of excuses, failure to follow through and just poor management. We really tried to help them correct the situation but it was so annoying and unpleasant that it was difficult to enjoy dinner. I got the feeling that nobody really cared.
