Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and a wonderful brunch menu. We were very happy!
Excellent food We tried two of the summer small plates and they were wonderful An open fave sandwich with fried peaches and ham. Also the ceviche Excellent served on a bed of rock salt with really fresh chips. We also had the crab cake Oscar with a very smooth bernaise sauce. We ate on the patio and it was very warm but very pleasant Wait person was superb.
Great place for amazing food and a friendly atmosphere. Also kid friendly which is a huge bonus! They have an amazing ham and cheese crepe on the kids menu that my son loved!
Nice selection on the menu, good food, great service and great french fries. The only bummer is that I think the chairs are uncomfortable - go for a booth.
Happy hour drinks were fabulous. Our server was very attentive and made sure to get our orders in before happy hour ended. Appetizers were very tasty!
Very disappointing! The hangar steak was reheated and over cooked. The fries were cold and old. Bouillabaisse was below average and the oysters weren’t fresh. The croque madame was very good. Our waitress was fantastic and brought me a wonderful birthday treat!
It delighted us to have the choice of indoor or outdoor dining.
Have always loved Salut, but lately things aren’t quite as good. Service is slower - we barely saw our waiter and had to flag someone down for coffee. Croissants were still frozen in the middle and arrived after the rest of our food even though we ordered them as a starter. After sending them back to the kitchen they were still cold inside. Our egg dishes were also cold (3 for 3). The only thing that was still good as ever was their creamy hash. Please bring back the quality service - we otherwise like dining there.
We were seated at a table for two in the outdoor patio area that was just gorgeous. Started with a delicious fig covered brie that looked too good to eat. Beef filet not as tender and flavorful as I am used to but I am willing to try it again on another visit. Wife’s chicken breasts were scrumptious and tasty. Our server was Willy and he answered drink and menu questions with vast knowledge. We will return soon!
This was our second time eating at Salut in St Paul. We were seated next to the kitchen :(
The service was very good. The Caesar salad was good, but undersized.
Why is bread $2?
The restaurant comes highly recommended especially if you sit outside on a pretty day. We booked lunch and did ask for an outside table and although the reservation does indicate they don’t reserve outside tables we were seated outdoors by a very grumpy hostess. Our seats were in between umbrellas under a very hot sun and when we asked if there was anyway to move our chairs or the umbrella to get a little bit of shade we were told that we could not do that. Eventually we moved ourselves to a shadier table as the restaurant begin to clear out. Three of us ordered the exact same dish; the duo of tuna and salmon for lunch. When our food arrived, one of us had the tiniest piece of salmon that it was almost insulting compared to the other two plates which had very generous servings of nearly 3 times the size of the salmon. The tuna was quite small but tardy although not even warm. The inconsistency of the portions of the food was very disappointing. The flavors were excellent and our server was very attentive. We really enjoyed the lemonade. I will give it another try but feel that someone should address the issue of the portion sizes and the attitude of the hostess.
Great friends and ambience is great but salads are marginal. Not a lot of salad and not exciting ingredients. I always wonder why not more lettuce and tomatoes are included as they are not very expensive. Not a great deal for the price.
Service was a little slow, we had to look for server a couple times.
The food was awesome, as usual, and the service was good. The big problem was the drunken-sounding, extremely loud party in the private dining area. This was completely unacceptable, and unexpected, especially on a Tuesday night. We had chosen the restaurant as a place where we could have a nice dinner and good conversation with our friends.
We sat on the patio and it was wonderful. Ambiance, table settings, and food were great! The service was a bit slow but we enjoyed our conversation while waiting. You could have had two more drink sales if the server were to ask. All in all, however, it was a great experience!
Food is average. Wine and cocktails are fun. Ambiance is good. Patio is wonderful
We so enjoy the St Paul Salut patio. Service is great, happy hour is a screaming deal, and their pommes frites are outstanding w/ the bernaise sauce! The chocolate mousse is also the real French!
My family loves this place, usually good food and service however unfortunately we have learned that what we were told once before was beef only (French Moroccan meatballs) does actually have pork mixed with beef! Definitely should clarify that with hostesses and menu.
We sat out on the patio and it was lovely under an umbrella! Food was pretty good steak sandwich had nice flavor and fries were delicious. My friend had salad with tuna and said it was tasty. Not too crowded for lunch which was nice.
The service was a little slower than I would have liked, but it was easy enough to get our server’s attention when needed. Food was served in a timely manner. Asparagus was over cooked and very chewy.
Nice selection for a light lunch. Attentive service.
Service was slow. One of us got their tea and needed milk and they forgot it. We had to ask for it twice. I had soup / 3 course dinner and they brought my soup alone and then it seemed forever for them to bring soup and salad for everyone else.
My pasta was the worst. I could not eat it. The pasta was ear shaped so it can soak up the sauce. The saucer was lemony ans bitter. On top of the pasta were green beans that were hard, bitter and uncooked.
The waitress noticed that I did not eat my pasta; therefore, she brought French bread and butter. The chocolate mouse was delicious.
Lovely spot in the neighborhood. Smaller portions, but very tasty. I’ll take taste over huge portions any day. I also love that the patio is right on the avenue, but you feel like it’s closed off a little bit so you don’t even notice the traffic
I love this restaurant and especially the outdoor patio unfortunately on my last visit the service was very slow. Not sure if it was the kitchen or my server.
The service started out great cause we were the only table sat. Our server quickly got overwhelmed with multiple tables. We quickly got ignored after our order was placed. It was a family birthday and when we finally paid and wanted to go. We asked the server to take a picture of our family. He was quick to dismiss us cause he was too busy.
We celebrated my granddaughter’s 9th birthday! Our server was great, the food delicious and a memorable time for our family.
Nice variety of options. The mussels in dijon sauce was excellent.
We had brunch on Fathers Day, and the restaurant was crowded and understaffed. We waited a full hour between the time we were seated and when our food was served. We were fairly upset about the wait UNTIL we got the food, which was absolutely fantastic!!! The wait was absolutely worth it - although I might try to be there on a non-holiday in the future.
It's great to see that the food menu has been elevated. We have been coming to this neighborhood spot for a while and there was a time when food and service were so so. The last 3 weeks, we have eaten on several occasions and we were pleasantly amazed by how well everything was done - from attentive service to delicious food.
Great food and service. A little noisy by the kitchen, but wonderful dinner overall.
We ate on the patio. It was a great experience. Our waiter was exceptional, and the food was fabulous.
Was able to get us in right away on a Friday night which was great. We could not tell you our servers name as she never introduced herself. Everything took awhile to get to us drinks, app, entree. Even had people receive drinks and app that sat down after us. She seemed more interested in the elderly couple behind us (my wife’s in her late 20’s and I my mid 30’s). Drinks we did order were great. Cheese plate was okay, good variety. We love seafood and ordered the shellfish tower. With this being our first time to Salut it would have been great to know that this dish is served completely over ice, cold crab and lobster was a slight surprise. The ambiance was very pleasant. The big thing for us is customer service. I want to give you my money, I want to tip my server generously but I don’t feel great about it when it feels transactional and not an experience.
Great food, wonderful patio seating. A good taste of France
Good food. Enjoyable drinks. Cheese plate was yummy. Pork chop was good!
A mini-reunion of old professional colleagues after several years. Weather was perfect for an outstanding patio venue. Food was OK, & service was slow.
Awesome food, service, couldn't have had a better first time experience. Our waitress was on point with refills, asking questions, she answered some as well. Over all 10 out of 10
Kitchen was overwhelmed for Father’s Day although it didn’t seem that busy. Food and service were unreasonably slow.
We celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary there and LOVED it! It was our first time there and definitely would go back! Thank you!
Overall, it was okay. A burger for $16 seems high. Drinks are overpriced. The server did not check on us after we got our food, until we were already done eating. That was very disappointing.
Wonderful night out.
