Brought some out of town work colleagues to a brunch. Everyone was happy with the food and service.
Food, service and ambience was great as usual!
We have not dined here in about six months. The menu is tired and needs updating. The only update I saw is that they are now charging for the bread. It was not busy at all but service was very slow. It is not a vegetarian friendly menu unless you consider a salad your entree.
Excellent food and service!
Great atmosphere for a romantic date.
Crowded night, but dinner was excellent and loved our waitress Gretchen. We did have a reservation and the hostess seated us on time.
Great for a group 4 moms and 4 babies! We were set up in the back area with plenty of space!
Great place for brunch!! Spicy blood mary and everything from a burger to benedicts!
We enjoyed Easter brunch and it was excellent. Our server Chad added to the great food and made our experience very enjoyable!
One of favorite places when we want great food and a fun time!
Easter brunch with the family - great service, felt like we were with family when we were really just another table.
Food was fast, and with two kids - that is critical. Finally feel like we can get out for great food, at a good price, with the entire family.
Once again Salut was fabulous. The lamb curry could not have been better and the Duck was perfectly prepared. We want to go back for Monday’s with Julia Child!
This is one of our favorite spots when visiting Minneapolis.
Wonderful! Loved it. Although, the crème brûlée was cold.
Food was delicious: tried escargots then bouillabaisse for entree. Service was just good.
Skimmed down the menu and increased prices on everything includinf bread that uses to be free.
We (six women) had a dinner for a visiting friend from out of town here and it was wonderful! The ambience was lively and fun, yet there was no echoing din, so we could enjoy great conversation with excellent food.
Great spot even on a Monday night. Food was wonderful and had a nice cocktail list. Very impressed with the service and will go back!
I've visited Salut Bar Americain at least 25 times over the past 10 years or so, and it's about time I wrote a review for them. I feel as if I have a very good body of experience at Salut and each time I have visited, the food and service have been rock solid; both very easy and very nice. I always have good luck with their Tuna Niçoise salad coupled with a tasty baguette with butter and/or olive oil, and their service is usually pretty darn good. And for certain types of meetings, the location can't be beat. I think the bar area is too small and their wine list could be better, especially by the glass. But all in all, I like Salut and I'm sure I'll be back there sometime soon. If you are in the 50th & France neighborhood, don't hesitate to stop into Salut.
We were seated right away. The service was attentive and the food came out promptly. Seasonings were right on and the quality was excellent.
Muscles in wine sauce outstanding as was the steak sandwich with fries. Be sure to get the French bread (sweet, salty little baguettes) and the deviled eggs. Champagne by the glass is a bonus!
Omelet was very dry, crepes were good but how can you go wrong with Nutella... Kids brunch was very lackluster, $4 for what looked like 1 egg, no fruit or any accompaniment. Meh experience.
Discontinued many of the things we used to like; complimentary little bread loaf, 3 course dinner. Mushroom soup was awful; way too much sherry, little mushroom flavor. Received wrong entree twice. Server sort of shook off comments. We used to like this place but it has greatly changed. Won’t be back.
We were celebrating a birthday and since both of us are ‘francophiles’, it’s our fave place to rendez-vous. We love their HAPPY HOUR....great hors d’oeuvres & small plates !! Their cocktails are wonderful and quite the bargain. Finishing off with their chocolate molten cake was, as always, delicieux!!! Our waitress was superb...she had a great sense of humor and was attentive to us....making our early evening getaway absolutely perfect! [Though I rated the food 5 stars...as it usually is....that night only the slider appetizer...hamburger...missed the mark as it was much too well-done....but the french fries were crisp, hot and yummy, as was the poutine—a high calorie heavenly combo....but it’s a birthday night and calories DON’T COUNT!]
We love meeting here for Saturday brunch. Service and staff always so friendly and personable. Phil is our favorite. Like the brunch menu, including the cocktails.
Perhaps the best tomato soup I have ever had, along with great ambience and location.
Perfect Birthday dinner.
Love this place. Same lovely waitress has helped my groups and she is extremely good. Makes for the total experience.
Our party of three started out sharing the Pommes Frites. I ordinaraily do not order fries, but thise are exceptional and served with a hollandaise sauce as well as ketsup. Two in our party ordered the braised short rib served with cured tomatoes, herbs, and a home made pasta. This dish was heavy, but the beef was very tender and delicious. I brought 1/3 of mine home and enjoyed it for lunch the following day. Another member had the Boeuf Roti served with very tender beef, mushrooms, carrots, and brussel sprouts over a creamy polenta. This too was very hearty, but the leftovers were boxed up and taken home. There is lighter fare on the menu, but these were perfect for a sunday winter dinner. Service was attentive, but not overindulgent.
Food is always just ok (had a gift card to use). Noise was so loud that I could barely hear my girlfriend from across the table. Service was so so. Honestly surprised Salut is still in business with all the good restaurant options in the area.
Salut is a favorite go to restaurant for our family. We always leave happy and satisfied. I can’t think of a time when the food or service wasn’t really good and we’ve been there dozens of times. I love the escargot and the fillet in particular. Bravo!
Outstanding! The very best French Onion Soup Burger in the world!
Fun! Very enjoyable, high quality, fresh food.
Dinner was amazing. One of the best meals and service we’ve ever had.
The Service was awesome! The waiter explained the specials well, explained how it was prepared down to the chefs choices in ingredients. French American cuisine, lots of things I’ve never heard of. The waiter was very knowledgeable about everything. The food was awesome, my food had noodles and short ribs cooked to perfection, the noodles were made in house. Everything was done from scratch and I didn’t mind paying the price for it because it was crafted so well. They really put love into their menu. I would describe the atmosphere as vibrant and the volume was moderate, very easy to have a conversation. Definitely will be back for a special occasion, and will recommend to co-workers, friends, family.
Salut does authentic French food with American choices as well. Wait staff is always friendly, professional. attentive. Great for special occasions and Sunday brunch.
Very good meal on Valentine’s Day. Seated promptly at our reservation time. Good service. We both enjoyed the french onion soup. Our entrees were very good. One entree was cool when served. Probably sat in kitchen for a little before being served. Otherwise would have been rated excellent. Creme bulee was excellent.
Was our 2nd visit. Our server was awesome, as was the food & atmosphere. We'll definitely put this on our regular visit lust.
Top notch in every way. Going to go back and try some more appetizers and desserts. My girlfriend ate too many oysters and got crazy. -Mike
We had a birthday brunch party at Salut and the food and staff were fantastic. We had 8 adults and one 9 month old and they were incredibly accommodating. I highly recommend Salut for their fun atmosphere and attentive staff. Great for little ones too!
