Salut Bar Americain - Edina
Phenomenal experience. The only desire is that it would have been great if it were a bit quieter than it was. We were hoping for something a bit more cozy and quiet. However, the food and service was incredible and would go again.
Server not happy about us ordering their good onion soup for a table of 4. Water glasses not filled. We were in the middle of a noisy desert. Oh and the table ordered a glass of wine and a cosmo. Cosmo took 20 mins to get
Dinner at 6:30, the restaurant was full. We had great service and our food was even better, highly recommend Saluts
Food was good. Great for a date. Great atmosphere.
Delicious food and wonderful menu. Love it that Monday nights are 'Julia Child Night.' Always great service and the ambience is charming.
My friend and I met for dinner. She asked for tuna rare and I asked for my steak medium-rare. Both were overcooked. Both were almost medium-well. Aside from that, it's a very fun place.
Thank you for making my birthday special!
Good food, nice restaurant. I think that they might have been down a server or two that night. Our server was good but she seemed a little overstretched.
Had a nice family dinner at Salut on 50th. Food was very good and service was excellent. A little irritating that you have to spend $2 to get bread, when the entrees are $25-35/each.
Our service was slow at first/wine/cocktail. Overall a great dinner. Still think it is a shame to charge for bread.
Salut is one of my very favorite restaurants! We love the French onion soup, the lamb meatballs or sliders, the bouillabaisse, the bread, the crab cakes, and we haven’t tried everything on the menu but I’m sure it’s all delicious. I like that I can make a reservation so I don’t have to wait. This restaurant is usually quite busy.
Salut is an excellent restaurant for date night. My wife and I made it early enough to enjoy happy hour with some great selections. The bread and butter is amazing, a must have! We were treated to some lemon pepper popcorn, awesome. We each tried something new for dinner and enjoyed the steaks sandwich and soup. Creme brûlée for dessert, fabulous. We will be back, soon.
The food was extremely disappointing. Breaded pork was tuff, tasteless. Pears on the salad were dry and not ripe.
I don’t like paying for others health insurance when I also have to pay for my own.
We came to celebrate our daughter’s 16th birthday & my husband’s too . They are bone o n the same day.
The server was very busy & took a long time to greet our table. He was friendly, but took a very long time to deliver our drinks & seemed to have too many tables to take care of ours. He took our order & I thought he wrote down . The food came out & he didn’t check on us for a long g time. The filet was over cooked & very burned. He didn’t really ask us how there dinner was over all. He did remember that we had two birthdays to celebrate, but by that time it was so late for us. This was an $$$ night out and just so very disappointing evening out!!!
The food and service is consistently good. My husband especially enjoys the crab cake dish. I got a hamburger this time and found it to be very satisfying. We miss the bread that we used to love and would have been happy to pay for. They now charge for a larger chunk - but this recipe is not the same as the old one. We won't be ordering that again. The bill was quite a bit higher than we expected partially due to the drink tab. The drinks he gets in other restaurants at $11.00 were $14.00.
I love the food here!
Took a few to get a server, but once we were “found” everything was great.
Food and service are always especially good.
Fantastic short ribs with pasta. Excellent wine list and cocktails. service is attentive, but not annoying.
We never had to wait; our party of 6 was seated immediately. Jordan, our server was amazing. Gave us helpful recommendations and was so professional and friendly.
Our favorite place for a night out. The food is wonderful and the staff couldn't be better. Of course we will be back.
Great restaurant for a larger group. Service was top notch and we all really enjoyed the food.
Food was great. The service was great, too--we told the server that we were on a tight time line, so she served us promptly including bringing the bill so we didn't have to wait for it.
Our first visit in years. Had reservation and were seated promptly. Service was spotty at best
2 different starter salads both well presented and tasty. Pasta of the day and Crab Cake Oscar were very good. Hot, bold, black coffee significant;y better than the dessert which accompanied the coffee.
Making plans to return for another visit.
Everything great, except not being credited with our OpenTable reservation
Great as usual.
I would still recommend Salut to friends, based upon my past dining experiences, which have mostly been excellent. However, this time, the French Onion soup was not as tasty, nor as cheesy as in the past, and over-filled with bread in the cup.
Dinner portions were markedly smaller....my Herb Roasted half chicken was very tasty, but very tiny, more the size of a Cornish Hen --- which is not what I was expecting based on past experience ordering this entree. The skin was not crispy for having been 'roasted', as it was in the past---though that may have been at least a year ago. Perhaps a new chef??? Still it was apparent that portion sizing had decreased -- again, comparing to past experiences.
The French Onion Soup burger was short on caramelized onions and cheese with a huge bun than over-powered the much smaller beef patty. Our waitress was exceptional and everyone appreciated her attentiveness and great personality.
Four different food items for our party; all were great. Good service but it was a slow meal time with few customers. We even got a birthday treat for one of our members.
It's an attractive place, there is ample parking in two ramps, and usually the food is first rate. My salad nicoise was not very flavorful and the vinaigrette really needed Dijon mustard.
Family in from out of town and always want to dine at Salut to get the bouillabaisse!
Always an excellent experience. Wonderful choice for birthday celebrations.
I love this place. One of my all time favorites.
One of us ordered a steak sandwich and there was hardly any beef. The flavors didn’t quite mesh, the bun was dense and hard to chew. The other meal was a burger with onions and blue cheese. It was so messy I couldn’t pick it up if I tried. Flavors were ok, but the onions were cooked like it was from the French onion soup. And I did not order a French onion soup burger. French onion soup was actually pretty good. French fries amazing but a tad salty. Love this place and wish they would bring back the Boursin Cheese stuffed burger!
Great wait staff. But they used to give mini popovers for brunch before your meal but now you don’t get anything which is too bad because it set them apart from other places. My Mom loved to go there for those - so it’s too bad.
Ate outside today. Just beautiful. Sunday breakfast is a special treat at Salut.
Always going here and bringing out of town guests. You can have a full meal or a lighter fare.
Always the best food. The French onion soup is my favorite.
Always enjoy the great food and variety on menu... we are never disappointed!!!
Reservation asked for quiet booth because hard of hearing. Put in booth in center of room & told all other booths were reserved. Apparently our reservation did not count. Seated by hostess with no menus. Waitress came by 10 minutes later & brought us menus. She disappeared for 15 minutes & only came back when I clld her as she was serving another table for the second time. Food was good, service spotty, noise level above what I could take to hear the people I was with.
