Service and food so-so
Excellent service and food. Will return.
Salut was one of our past favorite dining spots but we hadn't been since the pandemic. The servers and host wore masks and the outdoor tables were appropriately distanced. It was wonderful being outside with friends enjoying a great meal served by pleasant, competent servers in a safe atmosphere. We'll definitely
be back soon.
I stumbled upon Salut while visiting MN from CA many years ago, and it became a "must-go" each time I visited thereafter. I now live just outside of Minneapolis and introduced my new friends to Salut after the Fall Into The Arts Festival. They loved it too!
One of our favorite places. Excellent service, but we were disappointed in the Carmel apple crepes ( almost no Carmel and cold apple slices around the crepe… very underwhellming
Expected a better restaurant. Vinyl table clothes, silverware and dinner plates that were the same quality level as a diner. Building has the smell of an old building that was very noticeable. Food was ok, not worth the price, won't go back.
The ambiance was wonderful but our food was very average. We probably won't return because of this.
We came to Salut on a mission to find great French onion soup. We found it and the staff were amazing and the manager, Caitlin was very warm, accommodating and friendly, while remaining professional. We’ll be back!
I had the steak frites, rare, and the meal was delicious.
Our reservation was for 5.15 p.m. and we were promptly seated outside per our request.
Wait staff was quickly attentive and helpful.
definitely not forgotten in the outside location
French onion soup was perfect
We had the Mussels appetizer for a main course it was huge
Bagette was the usual excellent
My Bacon Cheese burger royal was nicely prsented and perfectly done and large.
The ratings I gave for “noise level” and “ambience” pertain to the outdoor seating area.
1) It was incredibly noisy exposed to busy France Ave. Not the traffic of cars, but the HUGE trucks, garbage and construction trucks that sped by, were ridiculosly noisy to the point of irritating. Wish the restaurants on France could unite to persuade the city government to restrict that thoroughfare to HUGE trucks, banning them totally!
Or at least, place a strict 20 mile per hour speed limit on all vehicles!!! —-but that would not affect the noise level dramatically, since these trucks are noisy period!
2) The food was exquisite for lunch! We had the quiche lorraine and the croque madame….the quiche was the creamiest, richest quiche I’ve ever had!!! With a glass of wine, I was in 7th Heaven!
The food and service was exceptional, I met a friend to discuss business and the atmosphere was perfect
We ate outside and the atmosphere was delightful. The food did not disappoint! I think I'll try EVERY appetizer next time.
We brought a friend visiting from the east coast who loved it almost as much as we do!
The server was a bit over the top and at times pushy.
Salmon was delicious
D’Anthony was awesome! Very friendly and funny we enjoyed having him as our server. We loved the drinks, specifically the smoking salut cocktail with dry ice. The food was very good as well.
Delicious brunch on the patio with parents visiting from AZ. My mom had the Chicken Crepe, my dad had salmon and I had the Bouillabaisse. All were excellent.
I enjoyed the Pomerita mocktail; it was flavorful and tart, which I prefer. There was plenty of crushed pomegranate in the Pomerita, so I eventually added some sparkling water to it. I’m sure it would have been excellent with tequila or vodka. :)
The three of us split the “Two Person Lemon Tart” for dessert; it was actually perfectly sized for three people. There was quite a bit of whipped cream on the lemon tart, so if you don’t want that much whip I’m sure you could ask for it on the side (or skip it altogether). I think the lemon tart would have been delicious without the whipped cream, but then again, I’m someone who prefers tart to sweet. My dad loved the decaf latte so much that he ordered a second one, and I enjoyed my espresso.
Salut always seems to make it into the restaurant rotation when my parents are in town, and to date we’ve never been disappointed. Great food and stellar service.
The brunch menu is down to 5 or 6 items. Service is just ok. The food was similar. I'd hate to see this place go, but it seems to be headed that way.
Best bread ever. Nice booths. Not terribly crowded.
So enjoyable. Ian, our server was excellent,so pleasant.
Delicious impossible burger! The salmon was good although the portion was a little small for the price.
Great experience as always. Seated outdoors, nice breeze and great service. Recent experiences in other restaurants have experienced shortage of staff but super attentive and staffed well to make it a wonderful dinner with friends
Our meal was not up to Salut’s standards and usual fresh and well prepared menu items, we were disappointed. Service was nice and pleasant but not the food tonight.
Our server was wonderful and host was kind enough to accommodate our table change request!
Food great as always!
Excellent food and wine, with a beautiful outdoor patio. Service is also goo.
Salut is my favorite restaurant. We go there -- to both Edina and St. Paul locations -- for special occasions throughout the year. On our visit 8/18/21 to the Edina location, we were a bit disappointed with our Croque Madames. The chef was kind enough to prepare them on baguette at our request, which was much appreciated (because baguette makes for a better Croque Madame than the sandwich bread, even if it isn't as authentic, perhaps). When our meals were brought to our table, we were rather surprised to see that our Croque Madames were half the size as they usually are. Literally. And about half the amount of French fries. I know this because I have taken photos of all my birthday meals -- I always order this same entree -- and this time they were clearly half the size. Bummer because they're so yummy and that doesn't seem right to pay the same price for half an entree.
The food at this French restaurant was excellent. We went with a friend who grew up in France and whose mother was a great cook, and she swears that Salut's mussels were better.
Our waiter was D'Anthony, and he was a delight. Hard working, funny, and very professional. Bravo!
Sitting outside on the patio at Salut is a summer treat that combined with the food, service and price/value, makes this a go-to for these warm months. Great time, service and meal!
Our server was amazing! Super cute Parisian vibe—great patio!
Great service & food! Very enjoyable evening!
Many were eating outside on this Thursday evening, so the inside was quiet and enjoyable. We had friends visit us from Des Moines and we again visited Salut, our favorite place to take friends so we can visit with the noise a comfortable noise level.
Excellent bread and meats. The mussels were divine. The bouillabaisse was very good. Service was outstanding. I was surprised they had no pastis.
Our food was delicious, our server attentive and friendly - a lovely place with our senior friend who uses a walker - staff was very kind about finding the right table for him and us.
Great food & service. A great evening to sit outside too!
Salut deviated from the classic salade Nicoise I had enjoyed there many times.
The server was fantastic and it was a great atmosphere!
In the "post" covid Era they did a fantastic job! Food was excellent as usual and service was the best it has ever been!
