Saluda's Ratings and Reviews
Saluda's is what could be a great venue for a nice dinner. However, no attempt has been made to mitigate its oppressive noise level . Fine dining should not sound like it is taking place in a middle school cafeteria. Put up ceiling panels or wall panels: anything would be an important improvement. A little technology can go a long way to make measureable improvements in a dining environment.
A large party was seated in advance of us. When it was time to cook their dinners, all the energy and heat out was sucked out of the kitchen for that one party. That kind of thing happens and we appreciate that everyone's meal is cooked to order, but it would have been nice if the waiter had let us know we might have to wait between courses. An even nicer touch would have been to bring us a little more bread or even a can of sardines during this "time of famine." However, no one said anything to us until the manager came over and apologized for the delay, as the delay ended. We were brought extra entree items after we had been served our entrees, which really wasn't necessary at that point, and seemed more like we were being given leftovers from another party. The gesture was well-intended, but a better gesture would have been an offering of a complementary desert or coffee. This is a management training issue.
The food was not special, but was tasty enough. I enjoyed the sweet potato hash very much; the pork chop, not so much. The waiter was polite and attentive although he did disappear during the time of famine when he was needed most.
We have been to Saluda's before and had a better experience and expect to return, but perhaps not soon, and hope to have that better experience again.
Our tab for five people was significantly over $300 -- not a record, to be sure -- but we expect more from a place that could be, should be, and can be worth that and more.
The food was made from some of our favorite local farmers' crops. Excellent preparation and execution on fish and beef offerings. One guest with salt restrictions found his pasta offering a little oversalted, but everyone else raved about the deliciousness of their meal. We will be back soon!
I have been to Saluda's with my wife on two occasions, both times were our anniversary, and everything was excellent from the service, to the food, and the environment. Even though my wife, and I have only been there twice, it's definitely one of our favorites!
I have never had a bad experience at Saluda's. The surf and turf smoked sirloin and shrim with freshly made pasta in Cajun cream sauce was to die for. Our server, Jessica, was attentive and quite knowledgeable of the specials and other offerings. Wonderful dining experience.
Food and service were wonderful. Long wait though. We had a reservation at 8 but didn't get seated until almost 9. Poor planning on the restaurants part. At 8:20 we asked how much longer b/c we were starving and we're going to order an app at the bar if it was going to be a while. They told us just a few minutes so we waited. Bad decision as it was another 30+ minutes before we were seated.
My first experience at Saluda's was much higher than my expectations. The food is certainly a bit pricey, but not out of the ordinary for the quality. The filet was cooked perfectly and presented in a unique manner, over gnocchi and vegetables. The ambience of the restaurant is perfect for date night or to celebrate a special occasion, nestled perfectly behind the fountain in Five Points.
Food was average at best. Bread came out cold and the mussels appetizer was barely warmer than room temperature. Steaks were cooked a perfect medium rare but the quality of meat was sub par. I shouldn’t be finding gristle throughout my filet. Sides w entrees were very tasty and the creme brulee was excellent.
Server had no personality...service was poor and needs improvement. Duck was good and steak was enjoyable but not as tender as we have had at other establishments. I had requested crispy skin and not prepared as I had asked.
I had RSVP as a 10 year anniversary and no mentioned of that when we arrived.
Service was superb. We were delayed and they kept our reservation. The menu is limited but the food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. It was perfect for our family dinner - quiet so we were able to hold a conversation and plenty of room at the table for the amount of people we had. Highly recommend - my only complaint was there was no chicken dish on the menu.
Incredible food incredible service they need to change up the cheese on the cheese board so delicious they need to have some variety it is the same all the time.. they should offer a few different options
The aged cheese bothers many people... like the aged cheddar can cause allergic issues ... more varieties like Brie or Campo de Montalban sheep or goat cheese these will be good additions to the blue cheese ...
Incredible filet with gorgonzola sauce...mmmmm
Overall incredible visit
Longtime fan or Saludas, but I had heard the menu had changed up some... so I was excited! My wife and I were both pulled away from our regular selections ( shrimpt & grits/pork chop).. and we didn't regret it at all! The Chili-Ranch steak was fantastic-sides even better (gouda mac-n-cheese!!!). The wife had the pasta special, and I stole several spoonfuls!
Weather was perfect for the balcony dining, so that made the night even better. Our server was excellent as well! Great experience... will be back soon!
After starting off with a delicious assorted cheese tray and an order of mussels, my husband and I enjoyed a perfectly done osso bucco for dinner. It was "fall off the bone" delicious. Our friend got the scallops and said they were exceptionally good. Our server (Jessica) was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and had a great sense of humor which added to the enjoyment of our dining experience. We shared the chocolate cake and pecan pie for desserts. Both were excellent. I love Saluda's and highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
The duck and magnum filet are amazing, as are the oysters. Took a little too long to get the food but such is. And the portions are rather small so if you're moderately hungry maybe order two apps. Def recommend for anyone visiting as we are from out of town
